How manu AU are there and It’s apple’s plugin standard. We’re talking audio damage here. They have released plenty of AU before. I would maybe understand a first time dev but no. Anyway apple should be renamed Banana instead.

It seems to me that everytime anyone submits a new app, a completely new person is assigned to the review process. I've now released two AUs as well and every time, the reviewer was not aware of how an AU is used, and I had to guide them through the review process, essentially communicating with a black box.

Thats why its best to just resubmit - it eventually goes to someone that knows!
Initial launches are always harder than updates...

That's what you think, until some bungclown rejects your update because they think one of the App Store images doesn't comply - in spite of these having been approved a dozen times over an 18 month period already.

The review process is a bottomless pit of random frustrations.

I really wonder why Apple doesn't seem to bother to improve this process. It would be easy by just a little bit of tuning. For example, assign a fixed reviewer to every app. That would solve 90% of the frustrations, because that person would be aware of the app's peculiarities. Or if one developer is known to produce "specialty" apps like MIDI AUs, they could assign a "special" reviewer to them permanently, even for new apps. Apple needlessly make fools of themselves here.

  • All the devs need to get on this thread and vent. Might be therapeutic! We appreciate all you do for this community!!!!

Sounds like you need a developers union.

That is what I've understood too, it's complete insanity to be honest.

I do wonder what would happen if enough audio developers would collectively raise their voices during WWDC'19?
Would they get their developer accounts permanently suspended?

What kind of 'training' do the app reviewers actually get. It feels like they have almost zero practical experience with iOS and the technologies it provides...

How come all those sht apps (Games and Copycats etc.) get thru all the time while more serious productivity apps get pssed on??

I would have most likely gotten medical treatment for severe high bp long time ago if I was a developer.
It's pure insanity at it's finest...

  • Utterly frustrating. I can only imagine that Apple is focused on their 30% AppStore profit, so they only invest their staff time into those pointless games that bring them millions of dollars each month from IAP purchases.

Seriously just one single well-trained employee could handle all of the iOS music app submissions and make a huge impact on the actual value and creativity that is coming out of the iOS app ecosystem.

I'll do it for $4000 per month using a remote connection from anywhere in the world :D

Spotify publicly calls out Apple's business practices around the App Store. If Spotify can't do anything right according to Apple, what hope does "the little guy" have?

    https://timetoplayfair.com/

If there was an equal alternative to iOS for mobile music, I'd look to switch.

My fingers are still crossed that Enso can cross the (moving) finish line sooner rather than later. Good luck, AD!

Maybe a developer doesn’t want to take that risk but what about enlisting one of the iOS music journalists to bring it up with Apple at the next event on their behalf.

    Maybe a spritz of lemon?

  • So, er, how long does it usually take for an app to propagate the various App Stores?

Drag downward so you get the spinning ‘refresh’ icon.
