Does that mean your problems are gone now?
I didn't try the export loops option

No, unfortunately - I’m trying to export the loops.

  • Hi @JudasZimmerman will investigate this, sorry for the trouble you're having!

Thanks, really appreciate it (and your app!).

Also: One can work around this by recording a performance - it just takes a bit longer. So if anyone is wondering if they should get Koala, the answer is still very much 'Yes'.

  • Anyone else unable to use Koala inside Audiobus?

The app doesn't even open on my iPad mini 3. It works fine on my iPhone SE though. Both are running the latest versions as well as iOS 12.4.1

  • This might be related to a recent problem with AB3 pls see here: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/34030/urgent-psa-hold-off-updating-to-ios-12-4-if-you-use-apps-in-output-slot-in-audiobus

What if you launch koala by hand first?

I thought I've tried that already, but it seems I didn't, and it works! Thank you!!

She's already watching you playing with another Koala, hope she's not worried about it o:)

    Beautiful!

  • Just noticed Koala was update with among others a 'Crop' feature to cut out slack that is not needed :)
And well possible to zoom the sample for more precise editing (two fingers to pan while zoomed in).

  • Love the update!

I saw this and immediately thought of you. Destructive crop FTW!

  • sigh ... still no landscape mode. I just love this app, and definitely appreciate the update! but ... I live on my iPad 99% more than the phone, and I just can't bring myself to use portrait only on iPad.

I wish at least it had simply an iPad only rotation, even with no change to the design, just rotated 90 degrees with the same portrait aspect ration. Sure there would be blank space to the sides. I don't care.

oh well, It's still a great app. I just use it far, far less than I would normally because of this thing that seems like it could be relatively little effort.

What you suggest would be quite easy (much easier than redesigning a proper landscape interface). My main hesitation is that people would get annoyed with it as a stop-gap solution and leave some bad reviews. If you really think that’s not the case and that people would be ok with it I’m happy to get cracking on it next week!

Yeh, that's a distinct possibility. I can't say if it's a good idea for you or not - only that it is for me. :D
I definitely wouldn't do it on my account if I were you.

Another thought is to simply arrange the panels side by side rather than in tabs ... if that would fit without major reworking.

But - you should stay true to your quality principles. I'll be fine. snif, snif. :'( B)

  • @wim thanks for the reply! Unfortunately there’s a few things that would break conceptually by laying out the interface side by side as you say. I’ve given it a bit of thought and still haven’t cracked the problem of how to do it. If only 16 was divisible by 3 then there could be 3 rows of pads per bank!

I was thinking to put a switch in settings for now to enable the stop-gap landscape mode, which would maybe make it clear that a better solution is on the way. Maybe I will do that for now if it’s possible.

This app is wonderful. Please brainstorm some IAP: I didn't pay enough for Koala!

    Yeah!

I’d be happy to use it with a “rotated” interface as an interim/alternative setup.
Obviously, a landscape specific layout would be better if that is possible in the long run.
Either way super app that largely remains unused by me due to a overwhelming resistance to rotate and handle my device in a portrait orientation. :D

I wonder if there's a medical designation for this dread psychological malady. It's debilitating, and seemingly incurable.

    make iPads square ;)

  • @elf_audio thanks for the brilliant new update - crop samples and zoom waveform :) this app just keeps getting better

  • I am positive that a landscape mode will bring more users. No predictions about reviews, but I'd be happy to beta test.

Looking at the koala layouts here, it looks like most screens can be split at the mid-line, with the bottom half moving to the right and the top half moving to the left on an iPad. Sort of similar to iMPC Pro 2?

  • +1000 for landscape mode.

Appreciate the design talk, sounds like a nice solution.

I really was hoping to use koala as a sampler in my workflow, but it seems like it's intended to exist as an island. The lack of useful MIDI implementation (midi learn for all params, program changes, etc) and landscape mode are deal-breakers. trying to use this with my AUM/hardware setup, and it just doesn't cut it.

Feels like an audio toy that could easily be a pro tool if it got Auv3 treatment and landscape layout (as is the standard for audio apps).

(sorry to be harsh, I realize that the intended use was as a little solo sampler groovebox thing.. But the thing is.. it's not hardware! imagine if an audio app for desktop was rotated 90 degrees. it would be weird and you had to run it in the background behind ableton. That's sort of how it feels trying to use this with other apps.)

  • Landscape as a switch option with the 'temporary' sign AND make it an IAP because if I've paid I understand the deal and if I haven't I won't bitch and moan.
