Another vote for being able to name samples, it would really help when exporting

+1 also some way to see the name of files in the project. After I chop up a sample it's good to note which one I used. If I haven't worked on a project in a while, I forget. So many samples in my library.

It would be a nice addition.

I missed the update, I have ben having crackling issues with the audio since I bought it, I will give it a test again to see if it improved.

The only thing I find lacking from koala is insert or send FX per pad (or at least the option to bypass the fx per pad)

I'm just rediscovering Koala, it finally clicked for me and yeah it's insanely good at what it does. A lot of power is in that resample from app option. You can add FX per pad, but you bake it in (by resampling with the fx hold button on) rather than send it through. A bypass option would be good though.

  • Damn, visuals update is insane!

I’ve asked several times for Koala velocity pads, here is a cool way to get them :) :

    Thanx! 🔥

    You’re welcome ☺️

That way via AUM and slide over you can have Koala fastness and Velocity keyboard sensitive playing. Best of both worlds!! iPad multitasking and modularity sinergy!!

Yeah you can do that, but a couple fx send would be way quicker, and is not the same using a sample with delay and reverb printed on them than actually applying the effect to the performance.

looks nice too! The mpd 218 looks like a perfect match for Koala too!

  • Anyone know what the “VEL” on the piano roll does? I assume it’s velocity, but I can’t seem to get it to do anything.

    Thanks

    Thanks

Tap it, then drag up or down on notes to change the velocity. If more than one note is selected, all are adjusted.

    Nice! Thank you.

OK, so it lets you change the velocity per each "note". Hmmm, if you make small enough note copies in a bar, you could then make some velocity changes that aren't completely smooth, but that do change across each step.

Between using this, the Attack and Release, and create separate pads with different velocities, we got some options. Just not the curve we'd get on a DAW.

  • The velocity option has been a life saver for me, now I don’t need like six slots for a closed hi hat and get completely lost when I’m trying to arrange my exports

  • I just became aware that there’s a free Mac version of Koala. No VST or anything, but it’s pretty fun over a virtual midi connection. You can even blackhole the audio into your daw.

Thank you, as a long-time Mac owner!

  • I just realized something brilliant about koala sampler: much like the digitakt, it seems if you drag a sample to another pad and make alterations, as long as you don't "bake" the sample, it references the original imported file without increasing the file size of the project. That means you can functionally make a bunch of slices or stuff similar to parameter locks without bloating the file size.

Not a huge deal, but for those of us that don't have a lot of drive space left or are using very long samples it's super helpful.

  • I'm using like @Samu Koala in Master track as FX, improved my workflow in 200% haha. But i have a question.

Anyone is having problem when press play in AUM, all my Koala loops doesn't start in count 1, sometimes yes but 80% of the time start late. Almost all my samples are loops, not one shot sounds

    Any solutions here?

Does pressing the rewind button in AUM before pressing play help?

  • I haven’t had that - but I have had Koala crashing on me a good few times recently - especially when moving back and forward in AUM.

I don't have AUM yet but if using a MIDI controller with your set up, could you see which pads are in use (different colour or something)? I have a Launchpad X and I mapped it to Koala, but I can't see which pads are engaged.

  • Okay you Koala Sampler fiends.

What do I need to look out for?

    Yes, got Samurai edition. 🥷🏾

    I’d say just enjoy it!
It’s a blast and loads of fun :sunglasses:

For now It works very well in the effects slot in AUM when used in slide-over mode.
Launch the app first, and add it as an IAA to an effect slot in AUM or any another host.

Koala is getting better all the time hehe…

Yeah, i always pressed the rewind button but... i feel that the Loop starts half bar after.

It works reliably for me if InterApp Audio sync is turned on. But Link seems weird.

Even with background audio on, initiating playback from AUM is not resulting in Koala playback starting even though Link start/stop is on in both apps if Koala isnt in front. Pressing play in Koala will result in AUM starting up. So the issue seems to to be on Koala's side.

If I put Koala in slide over mode, I get something like what you describe...but the behavior is inconsistent. It seems like AUM has two beats of pre-roll for link. (pre-roll was off in AUM). I was always rewinding AUM's timeline. Sometimes, Koala starts playing from where playback left off when it was stopped. And sometimes it behaves like I would expect.

I'm exactly using Ableton Link for sync.
Thanks a lot for not being the only one with the same trouble. Yes, exactly ! So sometimes u really don't catch the "groove".

Sometimes i press play and start perfectly and sometimes is just half bar o even a bar behind AUM (Now i'm even using Ableton synced with AUM passing via audio).

@elf_audio any ideas? :D would be amazing to have some help with it :)

I guess i don't know how to do that. I need to sync every app to AUM internally?
