@elf_audio I think it's about time to bring out the, ehmm, 'other way' of importing and loading samples no?
Soon! But for now, just hit the MIC button and change it to IMPORT FILE
@elf_audio Is there any logical answer to why selecting L or R for the USB Audio interface still creates a 2ch recording?
It's 1 channel input but duplicated to L&R thus eating up double storage and memory, so to save space I have to do a 'Convert To Mono' and 'Keep Left' or 'Keep Right' for every single recording...
The L / R selection could also be pretty handy for the AUv3 especially since we have to deal with the current memory limitations?
Cheers!
@espiegel123 , @elf_audio thank you.
Slide over and alt MIC mode are great options.
Also intrigued by @Samu's hint
Hello, just a quick question for recording songs, where does the file go once we have recorded a song!? Does it work like a tape recorder? I mean will it record any audio that i play and effects I tweak!?
Nvm, figured it out
is there a way to select a pad without triggering the sound? For example: I want to play a sample chromatically i tap the pad the sample is on and play chords/melodies/whatever of that sample, but when I hit the pad I can hear a sound (I mean that is how it should function lol), is there a mode for hitting a pad without sound actually playing?
Yep! Hold the Edit button and tap the pad.
Also worth noting that if you mute a pad, you don’t need to hold the Mute button to un-mute — just tap the pad again and it will unmute without triggering.
ive been loving this app more with every update. its been slowly completely supplanting BM3. and its great as a catcher in AUM. i do have fingers crossed for a danker onboard reverb some day as i do a lot of ambient with this (catching an arp jam and slowing it down -12 plus reverb , be nice to do it all in house )
Guys, might be a stupid question: you can’t control faders and pads of the koala with a volca sample 2 or Roland t8 compact because they do not have midi cc, right? Thx
I'm not sure how the Sample 2 or T8 work in terms of sending MIDI signals out but you can absolutely control Koala faders and pads with external devices
Not a stupid question at all.
You can control what you need by going to Settings > Midi and turning on Use MIDI Mapping, then tapping Map MIDI. Once you've done that, tap the control you want to map and then send the control from the Volca. When done tap "Stop Mapping" at the bottom right of the screen.
Update your iOS app for 250 free in build sounds. Thx marek
anybody knows what to do when koala somehow has become the default app for opening music files on iOS? I cannot for the life of me find a setting for that.
I've been getting to grips with Koala sampler, thanks to a sample pack and sample track from an ambient guy I support on Patreon. But I have a question for you all here. Do I need Koala FX to go with Koala? I have plenty of FX apps, and can run with them in AUM quite happily, but I'm wondering if the FX app might be a handy tool for sketching sounds out in Koala, or if it would be a waste of money?
No, you probably don't "need" it if you have lots of FX apps.
But forget need - you might enjoy mucking around with Koala FX. Have you watched this video...?
Thanks @Simon, I'll take a look.
I have one more question about Koala.
If I wanted to load Koala on my iPhone, and send the audio to my iPad, to process in AUM, for example, how would I best hook that up? Also, how would I do that iPad Koala to iPhone AUM?
I know I can load it in AUM direct on my iPad, and process it there, but I would like to have both interfaces at my fingertips.
Another Koala question.
Is anyone here using the Launchkey Mini Mk 3 with Koala for pads? If not, what midi controllers are you all using with Koala?
@andowrites Seeing your interest in Koala and ambient, I believe it is worthwhile having a look at this tutorial that was posted earlier. It is a good one.

Thanks, heading there now. I'm really liking Koala as part of my workflow now.
hallo, I came across all net for a problem that maybe comes from Koala. when exporting a song for Ableton all stems, the unzipping situation doesn't work, the unzipper can't find the directory on my mac mini, also tried many unzippers with no luck, anybody has this issue??? Thanks in advance
No problems here on my Mac Mini, I just double clicked the file and it automatically unzipped.
Sorry about that - it’s a known bug - I’ve fixed it for the next version but can’t release it just yet. PS there is a bug tracker. Please do not add feature requests to it, just bugs.

Is there any way to find out from Koala the names of the samples (wav files) I loaded into an old project ? Or even, going forward, a way to have the file names automatically applied as labels ?
If you saved it within a host it may be there. AUM for example.
