@Blue_Mangoo not to go too much off topic but would you consider developing an AU app that can route whatever audio source via the ipad like Soundflower OSX. Load it in any DAW as an AU just like Tube AU
    https://rogueamoeba.com/freebies/soundflower/
I ask you because your Tube AU is sort of a similar app / audio router. :)
Could maybe call it Audio Router AU. I would happily pay good cash for this

We would do it in a heartbeat if we could figure out how. Soundflower does it by writing custom audio device drivers. That would be an impressive bit of engineering if someone could figure out how to do it on iOS.

    @Blue_Mangoo agreed.

@Blue_Mangoo I've noticed a bit of audio lag when hosting in apeMatrix. Is this something you've experienced?

It's not a huge deal as I'm not interested in this app for the video, but of course it would be nice if everything sync'd up. Might be an issue with the audio being routed through the host, though...

Let me know your thoughts. Love the app - definitely NOT interested in a refund and am not asking for an extended feature-set! ;)

It usually seems pretty well synchronised to me, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you notice some lag in videos where a video audio timing mismatch is easy to spot. How much lag are you talking about? More than half a second?

If we could make an audio unit looper that does the same thing that the iFretless looper did, but runs externally as an audio unit, ...

The issue is that I see the need for the looper but I estimate it will cost us about $1500 to implement it. If it were sold as a general looper audio unit that works with any app, then it would have wide appeal and we would make back the development cost plus some profit. If it’s integrated into iFretless, an optimistic estimate is that it would increase iFretless sales by 1%, which would not pay for the cost.

I wish we could say we just make great apps and don’t count the costs, but as a manager I have learned the hard way that counting the costs is my responsibility to my employees and their families.

Oh my sweeet sainted Aunt! I would buy that in a heartbeat! Right now for AU loopers we only have Enso**, which is great for some things and quite unique, but not really the simple stable audio looper AU I was hoping for. Something that would quickly and easily do seamless loops, trigger record, overdub, erase, playback, and adjust volume via AU parameters, and then to export clips would be Amazing! It would probably have to utilize disk streaming, freeing it up from AU ram restrictions as much as possible, which is where Enso seems to trip up a bit.

You’d have to stick firmly to a limited feature set since you’d get bombarded with 100’s of opinions about features and workflow around here.

    I hope you do it!

( ** and clever use of echo loopers like RE-1 and Kosmonaut )

Maybe I’m missing something, but is there a way to navigate “back” within the YouTube browser?

I can’t seem to return to the search results after viewing a video which makes navigation difficult.

If you’d rather questions be directed at support, just let me know.

  • Just to correct myself: it does seem to be working. It went blank for a short while but is now back.

Sometime when I played video with long duration (more than 2h+), it not working for me.

when the play button(on top-left) turn to red, then it not working, But then restarting AUM should make it comeback.

You can tap on the youtube logo on top left of the window?

This isn’t working for me again. Well maybe on like 2% of videos. Can’t figure out what is making those 2% of videos work in contrast to all of the videos that aren’t working.

Same behaviour on all 3 of my devices. These problems have to be coming from YouTube right? Only explanation I can arrive at, considering they’re problems that only appeared after release?

Sorry @Blue_Mangoo but if no alternative streams are planned to be added I’m going to have to grab a refund. It just isn’t working properly for me, even after the fix, and seems like YT issues will be ongoing :(

Or is it still working on all videos for everyone else? If so, I have no idea what’s up here cos it’s flakey to the point of ‘unusable’ on all 3 of my devices :(

If certain videos aren’t working, send us a link and we will fix it.

Before release we spent some time browsing YouTube to find all the different types of video settings and encodings that require special handling. But I’m sure we didn’t get them all yet so just send us the link and we will add code to handle those cases.

It isn’t a matter of each individual video needing special code; but there are certain situations that are special cases and need special handling.

Thanks :) But I must have tried about 50 videos and only a handful worked. My 2% wasn’t very accurate now I think about it ;) but it’s close... will take me forever to send links to that many videos and would probably be easier for all if someone there at your HQ just randomly searched?

But the concern is that when it first was released, I didn’t have problems with any videos at all. So to go from that 100% to the current unusable hit/miss ratio, seems like it isn’t because of coincidentally suddenly hitting different encodes/formats?

I’ll reset all devices (did this already tho....) and try again this afternoon. Maybe it was just super coincidental and the worst luck ever in terms of clicking random videos, fingers crossed. I’ll let you know how it goes :)

Each person has certain preferences with regards to videos. Two people at our office spent time watching random videos for a while and didn’t hit any problems. But what we are calling “random” here is not random at all because everything YouTube shows us is related to past browsing history. So if you are watching some things that don’t play properly because of the type of video, it’s extremely likely that what comes up in the suggested videos will also be similar and therefore not play.

If you prefer to give up and get a refund instead, I understand. However we won’t get these issues fixed until someone with a similar problems sends us a link. In all likelihood it will take just one link for us to fix all the videos that aren’t working for you, because they are probably all not working for the same reason.

Cool :) I’m on it! Will gather the links :)

I should mention that there are two types of video we can not make to work:

    1. Videos that are so long that they can’t be loaded into memory
    2. Videos for which the uploader has marked them as unavailable for embedding.

Longer than 2 hours or so. It may depend on how much RAM you have available.

All on latest OS. Thanks for offering to check some :) Will share some links in a bit. Was totally random selections last time, maybe I just had really, really bad luck! Will do same kind of thing again and note links for any that are a bust..

Probably not luck. When we were testing, once we get onto a video that doesn’t play, the suggestions from YouTube full with related videos and none of them play either.

Ok... so the first video I hit this time worked fine on my iphone 7s.

So out of curiosity I then tried it on my iPhone SE. Works.

But then I tried it on my iPad (2017 9.7”)...and it doesn’t work on there..

Only a short video. Shouldn’t be a RAM problem?

All devices running same OS. Same AUM channel config and no other apps open.

    Any ideas?

Something I noticed during this time was that the Tube AU video playback position slider keeps disappearing on my phones in AUM. The grey underlay for the slider is there, but no actual slider..

Thank you. We will check on it.

The vanishing playback slider on phones is reproduceable.
Load Tube au in AUM. Hit play on a video and then double tap top of the TUbe Au AUM window for full screen. Might need to repeat the full screen/minimise double tap a couple times to get it to vanish.

Slider comes back for me when I do a few resizes. Seems there are few sweet spots for it to show.
