That’s not true, or at least it didn’t use to be. I got a refund for Modstep ages ago before I could no longer resist its pull and bought it again.
@ExAsperis99 I hope you are right. It is not something I have tested in a very long time. It could have been an error/ fluke in the Apple system.
@Hmtx I’m sure I brought Scythe Synth when it was released which was terribly buggy to begin with got a refund and brought again later down the line after it became stable.
App Store - Status: "in review"
Not sure about that. I’ve had a few apps refunded only to buy them again when functionality improved.
Maybe I just have had good luck calling support.
The last guy who helped me spent a good 30 seconds sorting through recent purchases to find the app I wanted refunded and said, “wow, you really must like making music,” and I responded, “almost as much as I like buying music apps, it seems.”
Here in the uk ,you have a statutory right of cancellation within 14 days for anything you purchase. I cancel apps and get a refund all the time. Just go to Apple report a problem and you will get a refund no questions asked. You are not banned from buying apps twice.
App Store Status: ready for sale
... but wait a few minutes before downloading. It's not on the servers yet.
Yup, it's 14 days from receipt of your invoice...so if your invoice doesn't come from Apple straight away, you get longer.
Downloaded, it’s working fine again, thanks 😊👍
@Blue_Mangoo
working Nice one Cheers.
True, but you can get your account blacklisted if you do it too often.
No , that’s a myth ,
that would be against the law,
I have been doing it for years. I do it with most app releases. Buy it , check it out and if it’s rubbish get a refund.
I probably do it once a week.
Controversial app is controversial no doubt...
BOUGHT.
Ready to steal shit.......
Kidding.
Instabuy.
it’s back and working perfectly here
I think it's fine as long as you use the Cancel this purchase option within 14 days.....If you use Request a Refund option a few times, they then force you to use their online chat in order to request further refunds for a while.
Yes, true , that happened to me before I became aware of the 14 day option.
Updated and works perfectly here. Guys, we are kind of pioneer with our music on IPad and geek mindset. Let's move forward with this beautiful app. No matter the "risk" of getting caught...
I get refunds all the time. I even got one this morning - not for Tube AU, though, which I've decided I'm going to keep regardless of what happens from hereon in. @Blue_Mangoo has been very good in dealing with this issue, so much so that I think he's a dev that should be trusted to work through things as best he/they can. It's working for me again now, too, and I'm going to be using it quite a bit. Tbh, I've never really been a person who samples a lot, but this app is so nicely integrated into the host that it's just begging me to grab some tasty clips. Of course, I would never dream of breaking copyright ;-)
Thank you @Blue_Mangoo for the swift response to the bug and for the honest and transparent communication.
@Blue_Mangoo not to go too much off topic but would you consider developing an AU app that can route whatever audio source via the ipad like Soundflower OSX. Load it in any DAW as an AU just like Tube AU
https://rogueamoeba.com/freebies/soundflower/
I ask you because your Tube AU is sort of a similar app / audio router.
Could maybe call it Audio Router AU. I would happily pay good cash for this
+1000000000 🙏🏻
How is this different from Audiobus?
That is not cool.
As an app developer, I have come to see this kind of purchasing behaviour in a positive light. Apple makes it somewhat complicated for us to implement a sales model where you get a free trial period and then have to pay for the app to continue using it when the trial expires. When developing audio unit plugins for desktop platforms that is standard practice. I would give 14 days free trial period on all our apps if I could, so this system does that in a way that’s totally transparent for me. I don’t even have to know that it’s happening. The only thing I don’t understand is who pays the 3% credit card transaction charges in that case?
I thought devs lost money when an app is refunded? If not, and it doesn’t bother you then carry on.
The losers are the developers, whose apps are being downloaded for nowt, and the shop analogy is irrelevant - you get to keep the app you haven’t paid for.
You are not cool.
We would do it in a heartbeat if we could figure out how. Soundflower does it by writing custom audio device drivers. That would be an impressive bit of engineering if someone could figure out how to do it on iOS.
Well I haven’t actually done the math to see if the amount refunded equals the amount paid. But Apple doesn’t actually send us the check for app sales until about 90 days later. So if you get a refund in that time period we see it deducted from our estimated earnings. But we don’t actually loose money. We just don’t get paid. But that seems fair, if you aren’t buying the app. My only concern is that once Apple actually charges your credit card, there is a Visa transaction fee and i doubt if that is refunded, or if it does then somebody has to pay for it.
