lmao this is kinda crazy.... I'm reading a lot of "wow it does this, but can it do this, this, and this complicated thing pertaining only to my workflow?"

    This x 1000.

If I had one minor criticism of the AB community in the short time I’ve been a member it would be this.

I’m not saying that ideas expressing areas for app improvement aren’t valuable, but there seems to be a tendency for us power users to focus on the limitations of apps within the context of our own workflow, rather than simply appreciating what an app brings to the table, mostly because we are the types to look for workarounds and fixes that casual users may not.

Sometimes this can read in comments as dissatisfaction or ungratefulness, but I know most comments come from a good place.

On OSX I use Snapper a lot, seems similar to Resonic. https://www.audioease.com/snapper/
Would be very useful on iOS

    Cool, it does playback speed?

Ya, it’s not immediately apparent, but you can add half and double-time to the toolbar menu. TBH, the app is sometimes a frustrating experience, lots of weird little glitches and triple clicking to get things to work. Extremely useful if you can get past that.

I think if someone bought an app, then they already showed a fair amount of appreciation in advance ;) And if someone didn’t buy an app but is saying there are subjective flaws/omissions etc, and that’s holding them back from buying, or that they’d like to see an entirely other app that would solve problems for them etc, then as a dev that’s something I’d want to hear ;) It’s free market research/focus group etc....companies used to actually ‘pay’ people to whine about stuff, pre-social media/forums ;)

That's operating under the assumption that all feedback is valuable feedback. I can gripe about small things in any app that I want changed to suit my personal workflow, but these changes wouldn't necessarily add value for anyone else but me. Devs have to balance feedback and criticism with available resources and realistic sales projections. They gotta eat, too.

Not saying we're not all entitled to our opinions and we shouldn't be able to express them freely on the internet. If a dev makes a shit app, it's our free market responsibility to drag them through the mud. But sometimes we sound like spoiled children with impossible standards. Coming from the pre-AudioBus days of iOS music making, it's nice to occasionally stop and smell the roses.

What a curious country you coding characters inhabit ...making something and then letting the market work out what on earth it could be good for ... it's probably how the wheel started.

Indeed. All of the apps we have built until now have originated from my personal idea of what the market should want. But this is the first app where the idea and design came from another member of our team, who is a coder, as you correctly surmised. So far we are very pleased with the result. (Technically I was also trained as a coder but I spend most of my time solving equations or drawing graphics, not coding.)

Sorry for the OT interjection: perhaps you would consider tackling an IR convolution AUv3 (for reverb and cabinet emulation, etc). There currently isn't such a thing. There are a few apps (like Altispace and Fiddlicator) that do it but no AUs.

It seems right up your alley.

That IS right up our alley. It didn't occur to me because I thought it was so obvious that it must have been done three times already. I'll put it on the list. Thanks for the suggestion.

... But I'm lazy to go looking for impulse responses. Do you have any suggestions about where to get good ones that we could include in the app? Convolution reverb is pretty easy to implement because the method is well documented. The hard part is getting a good collection of IR's. That's where AltiVerb really shines.

Yes, AltiVerb is a gem. I love their Taj Mahal. Let me start another thread about IRs so as not to hijack this one. I know that there are some sites out there with a pretty good selection both for reverb use and guitar cabinet use.

    My thoughts exactly.

I used to be a product manager for app development and can confidently say that the best feedback is solicited feedback and responding (developing) to the whims and desires of the vocal minority of users is the fastest way for an app to go off the rails.

  • I bought this earlier this evening and it worked perfectly. Now it won’t load any videos at all. I’m hoping it’s a temporary issue and that YT have not pulled it. The standard YT app is working perfectly but Tube AU loads into AUM but goes to a black screen on video load. It’s the same on my iPad Pro 2018 (running ipad OS beta) and on my iPhone 7, running iOS 12.3.1. It was running without problems on the iPhone when I first tried it, but now I can’t get it to work on either device. Anyone else?

  • It does not work anymore

  • YT lock us out? Not working for me anymore now.

Just checked. Same here.... was fine an hour ago...

Might be time to put those extra stream sources in there? If it’s going to be like this with constant cat and mouse with YT then it’s going to be hard to justify not grabbing a refund :( Damn... was really hoping the YT aspect would be around for a long time. Will keep it if other stream sources are inbound tho @Blue_Mangoo ?

Or is it just a temporary issue? Does seem like possibly more than a coincidence tho...

Yes, it went down about an hour after I bought it, sadly. Will keep an eye on it for a bit then, with a heavy heart, return for a refund. I’m hoping Mr Magoo can sort it, though, because it’s great when working.

  • wow, that was fast. also not playing videos here (search works OK)

  • Confirmed - just picked this up earlier today and now videos don't play.

    @Blue_Mangoo Thoughts?

  • NOOOOOO...! Following this thread here like a sports game I have money on ... checking the score ... say the dream hasn't ended this quickly..

  • Hmmm, PlayerExtreme still works

I won't be asking for a refund request. My 10$ can go towards paying for ten minutes of hardcore deving on the future 'File Browser With Pitch Preview AU' (working title/fingers crossed/kisses mangoo flavored ring).

  • Our corporate overlords have spoken. RIP

  • @uckinnnnn youtube!!!!!!! BooTube :(

  • Yup. Managed to get one rip in after purchase then finito..... :-(

@Blue_Mangoo This might be a better candidate for the second app you were talking about (one where you could load local videos from your device), but my first thought when I saw this app was that I'd love to be able to use it to do scoring. This would require the video playback to track with the DAW transport, of course.

    Is that possible?

I like this idea because the use case is so clearly defined and easy to understand. There’s no ambiguity about what what features it needs to have. Keeping the video playback synchronised to the timeline will imply some technical challenges, but that’s right up our alley.

I think the dev wants to make more simple apps like this and likes getting our ideas/money. ;)

    This is absolutely correct.

  • Dead here too and I was set to spend hours tonight sampling...

Holding on refund for now hoping it gets resolved.

  • anybody else having trouble with this in aum. I can see the browser, but the videos do nt play

  • You know they’re coming for us next, right?

  • Yep. No go in AB either.
Feel like it was too good to be true.
