The thing is... I’m not trying to fine tune or even make tracks. I just like screwing around with sound apps. What’s the plain ol’ fun factor with this one?

Hihi, very functional not high on fun factor, fabfilter is prettier.

It is my main fun EQ, it works with automation superb, so for Growls/Neuros/crushed sinewaves etc, automating some notchs is excellent fun for example.

I respectfully have no idea what you are talking about, and i have no issue with your statement on how fun a Eq is 👍

It's very intuitive, haven't scratched the surface but figured out the main things quickly.
Double tap to add bands, change the UI is top right, spectrum analyser on the bottom.
Grappling a few bands and moving them around while making a noise put a smile on my face immediately.

I think you might enjoy this @skiphunt

Double tap in different places you get different filters added, so low freq on the zero line will add a hi pass, hi freq on the zero line will add low pass, middle on the zero line will be bell, corners will add different filters too ;)

Thanks for the tip, I rarely read the manuals!

  • Lol I’ve been ending up using this more often than even fabfilter sometimes. I really like this eq a lot. I also really like that they got it universal so quickly, maybe they read the forum :)

Non of that is in the current manual, the manual is currently 05/19 but those have been added since.

  • Bought it. Love it! Thanks all for the feedback and info. :)

Fun even just playing with mic feedback.

  • I’ve noticed that with some of the presets, some of the bands appear to be dynamically automated and animated. Not talking about the analyzer, but the actual bands. How do I add that behavior to new bands and what is that doing exactly?

If you see bands moving, that's the dynamic EQ.

Unfortunately there aren't many good YouTube videos on TB EQ (yet), but if you watch any decent videos on dynamic EQ (such as Pro-Q3) and experiment with TB you'll get to grips with it pretty quick.

It's a very nice and handy tool and it's hard to go back to a PEQ without it...

Yes, I get it mostly... but I don’t see how to make a new band dynamic. They only behave dynamically with the dynamic template preset and a couple of others. How do I add dynamic behavior with a new template with newly added bands?

*(Edit) Never mind... I think I figured it out already. You have to set a dynamic range etc. for the new band.

    Cool :)

  • edited July 2019

Open the node editor, click the little dial button, the expanded controls will show, dynamics is in there.

  • edited July 2019

    Thanks @recccp

Some of those TB-specific icons seem to confuse new users until they've used it a while.

  • edited July 2019

I actually figured it out reasonably quickly on my own. I find the interface fairly intuitive.

Haven’t even glanced at a manual or any videos yet.

I only played with it a little over an hour before I figured most of it out.

Just had to compare the dynamic template settings to my custom one.

    Thanks anyway though!

ps. I personally prefer icon driven interfaces. And when the icon images chosen work, they make it that much more intuitive. The way I figured out how to set the dynamic stuff... had mostly do with meaningful icon graphics.

  • I sure hope ToneBoosters release their other plugin. This is a great EQ. Is the dev reading this?

  • I’ve been very happy with this one.

Rumor has it this was a test to see if it’s worthwhile to release the others. I can’t think of one TB app I wouldn’t buy on iOS. I think I may send an email of encouragement in case he doesn’t frequent these parts of the internet.

  • Hi there - dev speaking - visiting this forum every now and then to read comments and suggestions :-)

Here's a video that explains most of the features of TB Equalizer (not produced by ToneBoosters, but by Ed from Apps4iDevices):

The plan is indeed to release some more of the desktop plugins for iOS/iPad. We have one new one currently sitting in the Appstore review queue alongside with an update for the Equalizer (to allow full screen in Garageband, and to facilitate improved manual entry of parameter values using the onscreen keyboard).

If there are suggestions on what plugin(s) to port first, simply chime in!

    @DJB
Welcome! I still can’t believe I’m using TB EQ on IOS, awesome!
Just to let you know that any plugin you guys release on IOS will be an instabuy for me, but if you start by Barricade, EBU Loudness, or Ferox I would be more than happy ;)
    Cheers!

  • @DJB I would trade my second born for Reel Bus 4 and my third for Reverb 4. After that, I’ll take them all.

  • Morphit first, that will be a complete overhaul of monitoring with headphones.
    Barricade Second.
    ReelBus third.
    Reverb fourth.

  • Welcome @DJB 🙌

Awesome plugin. The fact that it’s universal makes it a Pro Q beater for me!

    Can’t wait for Barricade!

  • Realbus, Barricade.. but whatever the dev brings.. will be happy..
Think I will get this eq for desktop... it will mesh well with Sonar..

Can the presets in iOS transfer to desktop and visa- versa?

    Thanks..

Well, We still don't have a fully featured and semi-modular (ie. freely order the effects in a processing chain) channel strip AUv3 on iOS unless we build our own in hosts such as AUM.

So with the tools you already have available there at ToneBoosters it could be a nice idea to do a 'channel strip' consisting of a Gate/Expander, DeEsser/EQ/Exciter, Compressor/Limiter type of plug-in where the order could be freely chosen.

Another one would be just a plug-in to do gain staging (Gain/Trim, Gate, Expand, Compress & Limit with optional 'creative' saturation and enhancing/exciting options).

I know, this is just wishful thinking but there, I've let the wish out in the open :)

    Please release them all!

And, for entirely selfish reasons on my part, I hope your foray into iOS is a huge success. More money for you, more plugins for us.

Morphit... definitely, something we don’t have on ios yet AND that seems a strange thing considering how it is THE portable pro prod platform..
this would be a step up for all of us here that end up producing stuff commercially on ipad.... also for selfish reasons as currently each time i attempt to mix on speakers it seems the guy doing up the house next door plays “spot the hideous loud noise” for the day..
next up Reelbus, we have a few vinylisers now and a couple of tape sims but nothing as fully featured as yr machinery... go for it! :)
then... all the others.. maybe leave the reverb until last... we all probably have a menagerie of those.. but then again yrs might be one of the nicest ( i don't know it ) so ignore me on that..
then... the bundle at a price that No-One can resist! :)

p.s. looking forward to WHATEVER it is you have in the review queue..

  • how does the UI scale in cubasis?I like the way Pro Q does, leaving space for the arrangement screen.

  • Hi @DJB, and welcome!
Thanks for jumping aboard. Wish you luck and success on the platform!
I’d love to see barricade in the future.
Also if you don’t mind... some requests for your consideration regarding the eq :)

    • pre fx spectrum visualisation
    • input metering or even just numerical feedback of input peak/rms.
    • 2 fingers gesture to adjust q (pinch or when 2nd finger is down vertical - gain - becomes q.

    Thanks again!

Good news! Your plugin will be instant buy for me.

One comment is the interface for editing the eq point is a bit small. Anyway to make it bigger? Specially the Q.

    Barricade first
Morphit Second. This may be tricky. In iOS. Maybe make it a master bus plugin.
    Reverb third.
    ReelBus fourth.
