@ALB did you set the MIDI note for each pad in the kit EDIT view? Also you need to set each pad to HOLD

    @Faland thanks :)

Fix submitted, I hope Apple will review it quickly

    It’s here..

The ability to sample synths in AUM caused me to purchase this. Looks to be a very versatile App with a very user friendly interface.

(note that after I turned off the pad x-y velocity feature. I'm noticing that rolls don't hold that off setting when the pad is held down for more then about a half a second)

My main question at this time is....

Is there is a way to save the samples I record using this App in a format (like a wav file) that would allow me to use the samples I make while using this App, with other Apps?

I saved the samples I am working on in the main bank selection menu. This created a file that ended with a file type ending with " .egdr ".

Is there a way of getting my samples out of this .egdr file in a common type of exchangeable file format? Or some other way to export user created samples?

I really like the prospect of having a rhythm sequencer app like Pulse, that will allow me to easily sample multiple layered synths and effects directly from within AUM. Then work with those samples immediately.

I understand that I could create the samples using other methods, then file drag those samples into pulse.

But I really like the spontaneity of recording samples in the App that I am "in the moment" creating patterns with those samples.

I find this type of work flow to be a far more creative than first pre-recording samples with a deferent App, and then dragging them into the rhythm sequencer App.

Being able to use Pulse to "also" create libraries of samples that could be used with other apps, would make the EG Pulse App extra extra cool IMO.

Thanks for the great App! :)

I hate to mention another similar app in a thread such as this, but @horsetrainer, you might want to check out DigiStix for type of things you mention wanting to do.

[edit] my bad! I was confusing that with the export to wavs function in Fractal Bits. I don’t think there is an equivalent in DigiStix.

Back in business on clearing pads. Thanks @ElliottGarage

  • @horsetrainer @wim you can already do this in EG Pulse with no need for other app ;)
Simply share the kit (not the present) to get a .egkit file. Rename the extension in zip, and you'll get the samples of your drumkit in wav file

    That's great!
I'm going to be spending a lot of time using Pulse because of that.
    Thank you so much. :)

  • I know this might screw things up for kit import but...
...I’d like to see an option to start the app with previously used bank/kit.
(Ie. If I close the app and forgot to save...).

Mine starts with the kit with 'Dump' on the first pad no matter what kit was selected when I quit the app :(
I'm on the just released 1.12...

@Samu actually EG Pulse reloads the last saved or manually opened preset. Also when the app goes in background it saves a temp state, that should be reopened; I need eventually to add a temp state saving also when user forces quit the app

everything you are adding is TERRIFIC! :)
though after a couple of days recording stuff in via shure mv88 and now grabbing stuff from au instruments I am seriously needing a way to rename the samples i am creating..
is that on the cards anytime soon... or am i being a dingbat and not seeing a way that already exists for that??

  • @RockySmalls thanks :)
Yes I'll add the sample rename anytime soon

  • Is there a way setting that every time open app have blank project? In lieu of factory groove/songs/patterns?

I don’t know if anyone answered this, can you export zip of pack of user created kits?

So if you do kit on iPhone you can Xfer samples to hardware or iPad version?

  • @Faland said:

Damn. I put a security control in the audio engine to prevent crashes playing empty pad, but that avoid to delete a sample too. It’s a 1 minute fix but I’m out of office. It’ll do this in few hours. Anyway you can still overwrite a sample with another one in the meanwhile.

This is what happens when a passionate dev try to put every requests made by the customers in his app. Calm down and take some rest. Your apps are great, no need to be in hurry, we’re waiting for ages from others for the 10% of what you gave us in few weeks...

    +1.

(Edited to add: Never Mind, I know how to convert to .Zip using AudioShare It would be nice to have a "save as .zip" option when left swiping to share a user kit) :)

I've discovered how to left swipe on a user kit to share it.
And managed to get the resulting .egkit file into FileShare.

But I don't yet know how to change the file extension from .egkit to .zip.
(I'm still on iOS 12 on my music iPad)

Maybe I can use iTunes on my Mac desktop to off-load the .egkit file via USB cable, then change the file extension to .zip on my Mac? Then manage my samples on my desktop Mac....

I have another iPad reserved for graphic art use only. It's running iPAD-OS (aka iOS 13). I might load EG Pulse onto it to see if the upgraded Files App provides and easier method for renaming the file extension, then opening the .zip file.

I'm still in the learning phase for how to best accomplish this.

You can change the extension in AudioShare. I think it may be possible in some of the file manager apps, too -- like Documents by Readdle

Ok, thanks, I'll have to explore AudioShare and figure this out.

You just save the file to the audioshare file location, then in Audioshare long-press the file and select rename. De-Select the box that says "Keep extension", then change the extension to .zip. Now when you touch the file in Audioshare it will ask if you want to unzip the file

  • So eg pulse doesn’t have a library for sounds if I’m correct. I have to create a kit for each sound I sample or basically a kit will be a folder?

    Did it. It works!!!! B)

Now I can build a custom sound library made with from multiple synths and effects in AUM.
I've been waiting a very long time for an App like this one!

Once you have a sample in a kit, it's possible to copy that sample to any other kit without having to re-import the sound. To me that is a library of sorts, but organized by kits rather than by sample type.

    Duplicate post

  • Just put it into the fx slot in garageband and was able to resample some Alchemy synths. That’s pretty awesome. Hopefully that’s not a hidden secret Apple will

EG Pulse Quick Tips - Record audio from other apps. How to sample them.

I appreciate you doing the quick vids, but there wasn't enough info here for me to make it work. At 26 secs you say 'Press The record button and start sending audio' but nothing captures here so I obviously don't have it setup/sending right, which is my bad, I'll keep noodling, but just alerting you to the fact that vids with minimal info are great when all's great :) I know, hard to have to be a developer AND a film director :)

EDIT: I was using Animoog, rather than whatever you had in the setup. Please let me know the synth you were using and I will replicate. Thanks.

The synth is EGSY01, one of Elliott Garage's other synths. But, it shouldn't matter what synth you use as long as it's in the instrument slot and Pulse is in the FX slot of that same channel.

[edit] I just tried with Animoog, and it works fine.
