@4Pockets I still think lack of mutes is something that should be addressed, but I have been even more impeded by the lack of ability to move to different step ranges in the controllers section. To me, the controllers tab is where a lot of magic happens and you can either keep the transport running and hope you get things set as things zoom by--or you have to go back up to the events controls that are two panels away to change the step ranges to set pitch, velocity, probability, etc. That is tedious. Why not let the user swipe to the next range of steps right in the controller tab?

Just turn off auto pattern follow. The + button next to the Song Mode button. It’s all on one screen.

Yes, that helps to stop it from zooming by but it does not help with moving between step ranges in AUv3 or iPhone view (one panel at a time). I incorrectly stated that it's two panels away--it's one panel above and it does work ok in standalone mode when two panels are visible. But it's a pain in the one panel view for sure.

OK definitely an issue on the phone. In NS2 the interface is the same size as the standalone.

  • Ok I tried reading through the whole thread but not closely. Paul mentions importing sample loops. I’d like to import midi patterns into it rather than punch my own up. Is this possible? And if so, can anybody recommend a place to grab patterns?

  • Probably a simple answer once you build up a song chain can you loop the chain / song if so how ?

  • This may sound like a dumb question, but how do I lengthen the pattern? I can input notes in events 17-32, but they won’t play. The pattern just loops on events 1-16.

    Set time signature to 8/4

Thank you! I was wondering about that, but I thought that would do something different.

Yes thank you both! Good question gets good answer

  • Shame you can’t sync Song mode to the host. I’d hoped to create a chain of patterns that progressed automatically, while I was busy tinkering with synths and stuff. Seems it has to be started manually, which is difficult to get in time. Also a song repeat would be good, unless I’ve missed it...

Which host? Song mode syncs perfectly for me so far in GB

    Syncs perfectly in NS2

Yes, works great.. and I made a drum map for Xequence 2 (the pads are mapped but each kit varies so the labels would need to be changed accordingly)
    https://dropbox.com/s/0kpufczbfq09fd5/DigiStix.xeqdrums?dl=0

Thank you for the drum map it works great when I play the pads in Xequence 2 into Digistix!

Unfortunately it does not play back my beats which I recorded previously using GM mapped drums. The only solution I found is to use the digistix map in X 2 but I had to move all the various drum sounds in my pattern in X 2 piano roll until it would send to digistix. ha ha that was time consuming just in 2 bars of music

I am new to drum maps but messed around with the midi mapping in both apps for a while but just could not make sense of it.
Digistix bass drum is on C2 but it shows up in X 2 as C4
In X2 GM map the bass drum is on C3

Hope something can be done through mapping in one of these apps.

I completely agree. I would love Digistix to provide ability to create complete GM drum maps so I can use it in Auria,AUM,MTS,Cubasis as a drum module for all my sequences.
Same for EG Pulse. I own both 😎

    You’re welcome.

Yes, if you’re switching from an existing GM pattern you’ll have to adjust the notes to match DigiStix mappings. Xequence makes it pretty easy to do that especially if you’ve got a bunch of linked patterns.

Start by switching from the drum pad view in Xequence to the keyboard view then click top left icon to see the piano roll. ‘Select All’ and use the up arrow in the ‘Select’ menu to move all notes up an octave.. that should get you close.

Next, select any single note in a row that’s not playing the correct drum, open the ‘Select’ menu and click ‘Note’. It will auto select all the notes in that row and you can move them wherever they need to go. Do the same with any other rows that are wrong.

Once all that is done, you can switch back to the DigiStix drum map to get back to the pad view.

I think that’s the easiest way, if anyone has a better solution please chime in.

AUM. My mistake - it had reached the end of the song so I thought it wasn’t playing, seems you have to hit the back to start button every time first, and I didn’t have the song screen up.

    So yeah, does work.

Is there a way to go back to the start and loop the song, rather than manually enter 64 steps?

I haven’t tried this but sounds like a perfect job for Enso.. until another solution presents itself.

  • Version 1.04 incoming, including my feature request to add the ability to latch the pad modifier keys.

I’d rather just be able to loop the song to be honest, less hassle and strain on my old Air 2. I guess I can always record it and play it as an audio loop in AUM.

Another request would be for the pad/sample editor to play the sample selection, rather than start at the beginning of the sample each time. Save time working with longer audio files.

  • Bypassing the step sequencer entirely and going straight to Controllers: Velocity to enter notes = pure magic.

Add Probability etc and DigiStix is ultimate joy.

  • 1.04 is out 👍

  • Nice little update dropped this morning.

  • Amazing run of productivity with Digistix and also EG Pulse. We’re spoiled.

  • DigiStix are amazingly productive. I wonder when they will release a Drambo-like app (probably before Drambo ;0)

  • Still can’t decide wether to get eg pulse as well. Not bothered about the sequencing stuff as I do all that in Xequence, but the slicing thing looks great! They’re both missing full kit export including samples I think? This would change the game.

Yeah, the sample section let's this one down a bit. Having to start each sample from the beginning and not being able to preview the selection in edit mode, no transient markers, slice to pads etc. But then again this one is nearly half the price of Pulse so I can't complain really, though it'd be nice to have these features...
