Finally got round to doing a test kit backup. On iPhone I loaded my own sample onto a pad from iCloud, then backed the kit up saving it to iCloud. I then opened digistix on iPad and restored from the iCloud file.

Result: The sample came across with the preset!

This is what I’ve been wanting for ages! I wonder if the samples get stored in an au instance as well. Will see if I can confirm.

    Very cool!

I can confirm that kit backup and restore works fine in the AU as described above. DigiStix is ace.

Still can’t decide wether to get eg pulse as well. Not bothered about the sequencing stuff as I do all that in Xequence, but the slicing thing looks great! They’re both missing full kit export including samples I think? This would change the game.

    Yep indeed

  • Has anyone got Trigger Velocity layers working properly? (very likely I'm missing the obvious). Is there a way to trigger different samples within a single pad independently via Velocity level? My goal is to 'sample flip' via velocity.

Bonus inquiry: is there no way to mix levels of multi-layer (stacked) samples within a single pad other than editing the sample themselves beforehand?

Sure, it works fine. You have to set the sample option for layering (it isn’t on by default), and then you can tweak the velocity ranges. There is probably cross fading going on though. I’m not sure you can get a clean break between sounds (haven’t tried it).

Long-press the pad to get the options dialog to turn on layering, and again to get the separate multi-layer configuration dialog.

Thanks @wim and I've gotten that far (I think) but can only get the softest-triggered sample to play by itself - any others are triggering further layers With the lower-velocity-triggered layers playing as well.

I might be missing the point of this feature but it seems like there should be velocity Zone settings rather than just a minimum velocity per layer. As it is now it would appear the velocity layers are additive as opposed to being able to target 5 distinct layer-triggers within a single pad. Fingers crossed I'm just missing the How To here.

I see what you're saying now. That sure looks like a bug to me. Round robin works, but velocity layers is borked.

  • Right: round robin works like a charm // I trust the developer will sort Velocity Targets too. Love the app.

Anyone know how to contact the developer for support? It is eluding me.

Unfortunately it does not play back my beats which I recorded previously using GM mapped drums. The only solution I found is to use the digistix map in X 2 but I had to move all the various drum sounds in my pattern in X 2 piano roll until it would send to digistix. ha ha that was time consuming just in 2 bars of music

I am new to drum maps but messed around with the midi mapping in both apps for a while but just could not make sense of it.
Digistix bass drum is on C2 but it shows up in X 2 as C4
In X2 GM map the bass drum is on C3

Hope something can be done through mapping in one of these apps.

I completely agree. I would love Digistix to provide ability to create complete GM drum maps so I can use it in Auria,AUM,MTS,Cubasis as a drum module for all my sequences.
Same for EG Pulse. I own both 😎

@Moderndaycompiler @_mwallace happy I made gm midi work using the midi mapping in Digistix I made a gm kit

Testing I used a simple pattern in X2 just bass drum, snare, closed hihat and cowbell. In Digistix user copy of acoustik kit.
In X2 I could only hear the cowbell pattern but with the sound of the hi tom. X2 drum map showed G#4 for cowbell. In Digistix the hi tom is on G#3 I replaced the hi tom with a cowbell. I noticed several sounds mapped in Digistix display an octave above in X2

Then in Digistix's keyboard I found the bass drum on C2 so remapped from C2 to C1 and the snare from C#2 to D1 and then remapped the hihat with same logic. When Ipressed play in X2 I could hear everything using the gm map. When remapping in Digistix it only worked for me when X2 is not playing. Could work similar with gm midi from daw

For those of you who have the acoustic drumkit pack in Beathawk, I’ve created an AUM template with Beathawk and Digistix.

Digistix uses a dummy kit. It contains samples but I’ve muted all the mixer channels in Digistix. Loading samples was necessary to change the midi mapping to match that of the Beathawk drumkit.

The only two problems I’m facing are:

    1) the velocity is not always consistent when playing the patterns back: playing the pads results in louder sounds than playback of the patterns (on some notes).

    2) the timing of the notes is off. Straight 16ths sound as if
there is some kind of swing on. Have fun

  • Only thing I haven't been able to find is does Digistix allow for stereo samples? So far, I haven't been to impressed with 4Pockets apps. Tried Chameleon, hated it. Shimmer is underwhelming. I'm hesitant to buy any of their other apps, but I do want a AUv3 drum sampler for my AUM sessions.

Well if you don’t like 4pockets why not look at EG pulse, personally I like shimmer a lot

I'm checking out both. Gotta give each a change, but I can only buy one.

Pulse won’t sample in AUM. You would need to record in AUM first, then import the sample.

I can live with that. I don't do much live sampling like that for percussion, so the rare times I do, I don't mind the extra steps.

I ended up buying both. Pulse has the edge on sample editing and playing, but I prefer recording beats on DigiStix, which just feels a bit more responsive.

Both good apps, depends on how you’ll use it I guess.

One point worth noting though, the Pulse dev is super responsive.

  • How do you save a MIDI map? Is it saved per kit?

  • Love this app. Think polyphony can get maxed a bit too easily though. Long samples get cut off in busy patterns, no choke group in effect either.

Humm? There are four available choke groups (labeled “Mute” groups) in the app.

According the notes it’s saved per kit and per song.. I haven’t used this feature yet though

  • Another update

  • Yeah, nice update that.

  • Scales the whole GUI down in letterbox mode...not my preference but probably a necessary compromise

  • Just made a beat with the new update in Cubasis.
Would be nice if he could make the icons a little bit bigger.but still a good update
