  • Digistix on sale for $6.99 usually $8.99.

  • Does it come with a bunch of preset patterns?
Looking for a good AUv3 drum machine with a bunch of presets I can string into songs.
    I’m a guitar player, not a drummer.
Also needs to work well with Auria!

    Thanks

It has about 45 kits, I like them. A lot of them are pretty good for a guitar player(I play too) plus you can make your own kits. Not sure how it works with auria and seems to hiccup a little with timing on older devices but I tend to favor this one over eg pulse. There’s a few videos out there on YouTube I believe from the dev and from Doug as well

  • Yeah kits included but not patterns. The randomization button is pretty good at creating unique beats.

  • Looking for PATTERNS not Kits

Pulse actually does have some patterns with some good kits as well then

  • Just picked this one up a few days ago and it's now my default drum app. I feel like I'm on a good winning streak the last couple of weeks with this, Synthmaster One and TB Reverb. I've been able to delete a lot of other apps from my iPad with these three purchases. Mild regret that I'm sure we all feel with all the money I've spent on other apps over the years that I will probably never use again but I think my total all in cost including my new iPad from black friday is probably still less then my old laptop, FL Studio and vsts I purchased in the past

  • I use it in every single Jam/Song/Track

  • Do the pads have envelopes at all? Looked around and can't see them on any videos or images...

  • Is there any support for 4pockets apps? The App Store link brings me to a generic site for Motorhomes. The Ableton link feature only appears to work in one direction. I can control the tempo in the Audio Unit via midi but this does not get sent via link to AUM. Bit of a lame workaround but I’m trying to control tempo in AUM using my microKontrol2. This iOS model of no trial versions and limited support seems a bit weak to me, I’ve bought way too many apps that end up being a waste of money.

  • I don't know but I've sent a couple of emails with no response to their support email address. Others have reported differently though...

I had a response to my first support email, eventually. No response to the second one, a few months ago now.

To be fair I haven't checked out the last Multi Track update yet, so maybe they fixed the bugs I reported.

  • Cheers @MonzoPro it's only been a couple of weeks for me, was just about some interface things, think they tried to fix the timing thing and it seems a little better...

OK. Give up. Where is this magic button?

Can't see Ableton Link mentioned in app description.
Even if Link would be included it would only work in standalone/IAA mode. AUv3 instruments will always rely on host for tempo. You can set the tempo in your host and the AU will follow, never the other way around.
Unfortunately AUM doesn't allow midiCC control over its tempo, but you can use tap tempo feature inside AUM or use AUM & AB3. AB3 will let you use midiCC to adjust tempo and AUM will follow if Link is enabled for both of them.

Hit the + sign at the top right of the pattern grid. "Random Pattern" is at the bottom of the popup menu.

I have found that it can be useful to send follow-up emails (gently following up rather than expressing annoyance at being ignored) periodically when I don’t hear back related to issues of importance. Some people are just bad at keeping up with email.

  • Yeah, I've taken that approach, a kind word or two plus indicating and appreciating what I've noticed happen in between in change logs, I imagine there's a lot for them to deal with having all those different apps out... Not sure how big the team is even?

If 4pockets is like me, when he's in development mode, he's probably so totally focused that communication goes out the window. When he comes up for air there's such a backlog, that some gets addressed and others rushed past. Given his pace of app releases, I suspect intense development mode is the norm, and communication is something he has to force himself to do. B)

The respectful reminder of unanswered questions has worked well for me too. Some things that just don't seem like good ideas or relevant issues still end up getting ignored, but I just let those go.

  • Hey all..... question for you. Is there anyway to show in folder or tell me where I got my original sample from that I imported??? There is a sample that I have assigned to a pad that I totally want to use in a different app, and for the life of me cant find it.

I’m having a problem with the editor failing to (re-) open in Cubasis 2 (iOS 12 / iPad mini 2), just get a blank black space? Does anyone else get this with DigiStix or other plugins?

This is happening after switching between the plugin and piano roll a few times.

    (Edit)
The thing I was doing which might have contributed to this was using AudioShare to preview samples, with Cubasis background audio off. I’ve just turned on background audio and not had a problem.

However, another question - is it possible to go back a folder in the (iOS) file picker while importing a sample?

  • Considering this over EG Pulse, I have a question about Digistix:

    1. I love using randomisation, can Digistix randomise every time the pattern loops? Can I assign an endlessly randomising high hat for example?

    2. And can the 'rotate' function work in the same way? Ongoing rotation, like in Patterning?

It's these 'humanising' features that will really make me decide between EG Pulse and Digistix.
    many thanks!

The answer I found after purchasing is...
    1 No.
    2 No.
    :(

  • You can create a lot of patterns and randomize only the hat if you want won’t be infinite but you could make many many patterns and chain them together. I know it’s not the same but it’s something

  • Or I like to add in different probabilities which make it seem random every time it’s played.

  • Yeah, I tried to convince Paul on some of these randomization enhancements; he said he'd consider and add to roadmap but he didn't seem convinced (at least over email). Seems a real shame as this app is very, very good and could replace some of my IAA faves (like Patterning) with even just basic per pad sample randomizations.

Why don't you run something else to generate the MIDI for the randomising and rotating hi-hats?

Well, sure, I do. But that's multiple windows and tools to keep track of. Which I can do, but sometimes a single focused experience is just better for creating "flow" with regards to creative process. I'd say that iOS, in general, is maddening in the overhead that it inflicts on the creative process. I spend more time considering "how the hell do I do that?" then I'd like... The benefits outweigh the drawbacks overall, so I'm here to stay. But that doesn't stop me from complaining about it.
