Visual Mixer by Mani Consulting Limited Company

https://apps.apple.com/app/id1482739499

Description:

Visual Mixer is an audio unit plugin that puts the volume and pan controls for all your tracks together into one simple interface.

In any mixing session, the most basic and often the most time consuming work is balancing the levels and setting the pan. Visual Mixer does the same thing that the volume and pan controls in your DAW application, but it puts all the controls in one place so you can see at a glance which tracks are panned left, centre, and right, and what their relative volume settings are. The ability to clearly see where your tracks sit in the stereo field makes mixing music easier, and can even lead to better sounding mixes.

The most unique feature of Visual Mixer is that every instance of the plugin communicates automatically with every other instance, so that when you open any one of them, you can view and edit volume and pan, mute and solo for every track at the same time.

Once you have used this simple tool, you won't want to do a mixing session without it.

am i right in thinking you can ‘group’ sliders on this and control all with one finger?

Any good? Could this be used live to mute and solo tracks on-the-fly, stuff like that? I’ve wanted something that mkaes these things easier to do for a while, so it would be great if this enables it.

You can group tracks, but it doesn't look like you can control all sliders in a group with one finger 🤔
At least I haven't figured out how to do it.

strange! i wonder what the track groups are for then?

is there a way to assign a midi controller to a group?

    According to the manual:

Assigning tracks to groups allows you to show or hide each group of control points to keep the UI uncluttered.

oh well! that’s that dream woken up from... :)

  • I like that you can manage all instances within one interface. Kind of on the fence because I have my AUM template with midi mappings all set.

  • hmmm, I wish there was more info in the description. For example, I see there are two pan types. what are they? Also confused about what the groups do. And the mixer faders don't look very compact, which sort of seems like it might miss the mark for me.. I use AUM and wish there was a way to collapse the faders to a narrow view to fit many more on one screen.

I'd love to see a video or something to get more of an idea what this does.

The Mute button mutes the selected track and the solo button mutes all tracks except for the selected track and the other tracks that are in solo mode.

Me, too. It would be great if groups of tracks could be controlled by their own sliders. The potential of the app - or this sort of app - is tremendous, but there’s not enough information to buy it just yet. Keeping my eye on it, though.

Thanks. So, what do you think of it, overall?

  • Aha! okay, that really is amazing. From the images on the appstore, it looks like you have to scroll around to get to the channels. The photos and description don't do it justice! Definitely getting this!

  • Thanks @White

    This is very usefull.

@White how is it on CPU usage and is it latency free? if not latency free does AUM recognise it for latency compensation?

Looks very good, that. Off to the stroke to purchase it. Great way to mix, and hopefully to mess around on-the-fly, too. Thanks for posting Doug’s vid.

  • Just tried it and it works great - except playing anything through Poly 2 results in no panning at all. No doubt this can be addressed in an update. Nice little app, though, definitely. Would @Blue_Mangoo or James Milton have any ideas? Can’t remember James Milton’s handle but will look for it now...

    Edit: @JSMilton ?

  • Brilliant idea. Should be integrated natively in AUM!!
Is there a possibility to pilote CC messages the same way ? I would like to be able to control everything from one place

That’sa great idea. If it can be done, it would be ace.

  • What an amazing plug in. Love the grouping

  • @Blue_Mangoo
this looks exceedingly useful... any chance it can be made available to ipads still on ios11 ( maybe with a caveat? not supported fully etc etc.. )

  • Agreed on midi cc support.
