Thank you very much @Michael_R_Grant for the information.
I have iPad3 and I am waiting for the new iPad6 to come out (2GB crossing fingers).
I will take a look at the videos you recommended.
Awesome!!! Can't wait to try hooking up my MIDI controllers and give it a shot.
still has a terrible interface.
yeah, i said it.
Very tempted to pick this up, but a couple people have posted about performance problems when the app has more than a few sounds going. I have an iPad 4...would I be affected as well? Even on sale, I don't want to spend $10 on an app I can't use to its full potential.
How do you stop the view jumping between each 16 beat part of a pattern while playing it? I know it's possible, because I've seen the view stop on... say... the first 16 beats while the pattern carries on to 17-32 before repeating, but I don't know how to enforce/change the behaviour reliably. How to stop that and then how to start it again would be a useful tip for me!

i had lots of performance problems with it on an ipad 4, so many that i stopped using the app fairly soon after i bought it.
if i were you, i would wait and see what people say after using it for a little while, and on different ipad models.
I'm pleased I waited, this was on the list for last week but I got side tracked
Think it's time to pick this one up. A little worried about performance on my iPad 3 but 6-24 channels of MIDI addressable drum synth (with CC support) and the ability to use the internal step sequencer along with MIDI program changes (to make an externally driven song mode) is just too much to pass up for ten bucks.
Is there really no noise oscillator? Seems weird.
How can you MIDI program change, exactly? Step by step for external MIDI noob, please!
@syrupcore, from the manual - The Noise Generator offers white and pink noise which is sent to its own multimode filter offering low- and highpass modes with 6 and 12 dB and bandpass and bandstop with 12 dB slope.
Cheers @Fitz. Was only going by screen shots and the discchord video. Glad I just missed it!
@michael_R_Grant depends on the host you're sending them from. From the description, you send a standard program change and the number you send along with the change (the value) will tell Stroke Machine to change to that pattern.
I don't know how to send a standard program change, though.

I'm really interested to hear how it behaves on your iPad. I agree that $10 for the app is a great deal, but I'd want to know if I'll run into performance issues after a couple instruments/patterns.
I'm really tempted to get this but I don't know if I can put up with staring at an app with developer's name bang in the middle of it. Slightly off-putting to say the least. Sorry mr. Franke.
I think that's been done away with, Dom. A previous commenter said so, and I don't see it in Tim Webb's video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8UB-JdAyvE
I guess the dev just hasn't updated his screenshots.
Oh, you are right- it's there in all the screen shots and even in the still from Tim's video, but not in the actual video.
Actually, it pops in a little ways into the video. Maybe there is a way to toggle it on/off? I was also going by this comment
There are two parts on this groovebox, Melody and Percussion, on the Melody part the dev name is replaced with a "Glide" parameter (on the sound page).
Is it just me, or is there a bit of a bug when you change the sound that you assign to a particular part? The sound that used to be there seems to stay playing and can't be silenced.
EDIT: Hmmm, I reloaded and this isn't happening anymore!
Thanks for clearing that up (about the logo) Doesn't bother me in the slightest either way.
Maybe its me, but I cant assign a new pattern in the pattern browser, following the instructions in the manual, tried four times and its still the same pattern as was originall there, any help please
I'm on iPad2 - May update someday, but not imminently. Stroke Machine is appealing because few apps apart from this one and SeekBeats do drum synthesis, but I worry about performance on my older device. May be at least worth a shot at the 1/2 price.
Is there any other colour theme. This looks like Tokyo red light district, if there is one.
There is...do you need the address?

I just tried this and it seems to me you can only assign to the empty pattern slots - 50 and up. The only way to clear a pattern slot is to delete the kit that's assigned to it, meaning again you can't change the first 50 because those can't be deleted. I don't know if this is a bug or just the they wanted it to work/edit: or if I'm missing something
Isn't this one the "subdued skin"?

Yes please! No I actually found it but it only activated when I restrted the app. Strange.
Now's better, my retinas were about to pop.
How does this compare to SeekBeats? (SB can't be used with external sequencer, right?)
Update is live! I really like the app so far! Don't know how the sequencer was before but I find it super easy to program. Great variety of preset sounds too.
