Is anyone using L7 with an iRig BlueBoard? I'm using one to trigger loops to record, but when I press the assigned BlueBoard button, it triggers multiple loops to start recording simultaneously.

That is the exact device I used to test it. There was a moment when I had 16 tracks get prepped for record because irig blueboard sends out on all channels by default, but then checking the channel fixed it. I'll double check this today and I will upload a revision if I can reproduce and fix it. Stay tuned.

    You rock, man. \m/

tldr; Uploading v1.12 to the AppStore with this fixed.

    More info for the curious:

I was just about to write that it works for me and then Aha! Reproducible. I got it. For me, this only happens when changing your MIDI configuration after loading L7. But of course on iOS changing your MIDI configuration is as easy as launching an app with MIDI input in the background. Anyway, for every midi device change, there was an extra program change message coming in. I'll eventually add a MIDI input selection screen, but for now this is a good enough update.

I am happy to release these tiny updates for people, no skin off my back - I hope its not annoying to anyone!

My day job is software development (business systems…yawn), so I feel this. You’re being awesome about making all this happen on the fly. Agile, as they say.

The dev appearing to be "on it" is the only reason I keep coming back. To me, it's not about $4. It's about the fact that I have an embarrassing amount of apps that I never use... forgot I even have... have been abandoned by devs... or they really weren't the app for me in the first place—I just gave in to users excited about something that was really more their speed and not mine.

So, although $4 isn't much and this does seem like a responsive developer... I don't want another app that I'll mess around with for 2 days then forget that I even have it as soon as the next shiny object is hyped on the forum. ;)

    >

Exactly the same for me. I gave the bloke in the shop an extra tip after fixing my PC yesterday that was more than the price of this, but I buy so many apps I have to try and keep it under control, and just buy things I think I’ll use.

Good response from the dev though, so highly likely I’ll get this when it’s back on 12x.

Okie doke, that’s tonight’s project then.

I'll likely grab this later tonight too... or tomorrow. Gotta run out the door now and I'm afraid I'd wanna play with it and miss the movie I'm meeting a friend to see.

Will this still be on sale for a couple more days?

On a side note... I thought my laptop died yesterday. I was devastated. No life, no charge, nothing... just dead as a door nail.

Thought I was going to have to go into debt for a new one that I can't really afford right now.

Then on a whim I pulled the cover and unplugged the internal battery from the motherboard and plugged the laptop into mag/safe power. Came right up! It was just a dead battery. Ordered one same day delivery from Amazon for $32. Installed, recalibrated... and back up and running.

I think I'll celebrate not having to buy a new machine and get this app later. ;)

Also, if this happens to anyone else... your macbook pro WILL run off wall power only without the battery installed, but it will seem super slow and sluggish. I learned this is normal. The macbook pro will throttle and clock the cpu down without the battery because the power off the wall isn't quite enough. If you have cpu spikes it could crash your machine, so as a safty measure the cpu get's throttled/clocked down when it doesn't have a batter. After I installed the new battery it came back up to normal speed.

That reminds me... I need to do a fresh back up too!

  • I really like this app but I had to delete it anyway because I couldn’t find a way to export the audio and when I wanted to record my loops via audiobus It just didn’t Play any sound

You can export each individual track by long holding it and choosing export. Re: the audiobus thing: in aum it needs to be in an effect slot, idk whether in AB3 it’s an output or an effect slot, but I’d try both :)

You might not have heard anything due to monitoring being turned off.

Getting massive crackles using L7 in AUM while playing back the recorded audio - this happens even with just L7 running and with just a single loop running - so I guess itˋs not the typical cpu-crackle we are all familiar with - also the crackle sounds different ,,, -

  • It loads in the AUM fx slot but only in 1 strip. Can we not have multiple instances at the same time in different strips ?

not with InterAppAudio. That sort of thing make sense for an AUv3 filter. I'm not really sure why I'd want to distinct loopers running, so I don't think I'd build something capable of doing that. Normally I like to say yes to such things but in this case I'm just scratching my head. Sorry!

  • I'm finding the A button doesn't continue on the phone,it stops after 4 bars but does continue until you stop it on iPad,will there be a fix or am i doing something wrong?

I think you'll want to press A to start and tap the waveform when you want to schedule the stop. I have wanted to tap the A button again too, so maybe that is the better workflow.

Hi everyone. I am Daniel Kuntz, one of the L7 developers. Sorry for my absence on this thread thus far. Had to “apply” to be a member of the forum and it took a long time to get approved.

I’ll be joining Aure in answering your questions about L7, so feel free to direct stuff at me!

Quick preview of what's coming in the next update:

    • Track reverse! Just swipe left or right on the waveform to reverse, and swipe again to un-reverse.
    • Adjustable metronome volume while importing audio.
    • All add loop buttons are always visible, no matter what the max loop is set to. This means you can record loops that are longer than your initial loop without changing the max loop setting.
    • I/O buffer duration setting - set this lower to improve input latency.

  • Ok, so I bought this. I like it. Intuitive. Didn’t take long to get the hang of it.

Agree that the sound quality seems a little degraded from source. That’s likely due to mono.

Sometimes I get a click at either end of recording. Wish I could trim that off.

A little buggy in AUM. Crashed a couple times. However, I used it in apeMatrix with seven tracks recorded including some source from apeMatrix and it didn’t crash at all. Very stable.

The voice tune thing is cool but I haven’t completely got the hang of that yet. Not sure what the speed slider is doing.

The announced swipe to reverse will certainly be a lot of fun, but I’d like to seem some interesting time stretching too at some point.

All in all, happy with the purchase and having fun with it. :)

    Multiple audio outs?

Yep, this is correct. Working on adding stereo recording in the next update.

I am noticing this too. Definitely annoying, will be fixed.

Not noticing any bugginess on my end. Could you post your AUM patch so I can take a look?

The voice tune thing is cool but I haven’t completely got the hang of that yet. Not sure what the speed slider is doing.

Speed slider controls the speed of the portamento between notes. 100% speed is no portamento, which results in a vocoder-like effect (sometimes called “hard autotune”). If you bring that slider down, you’ll notice more of a smooth glissando between notes.

The announced swipe to reverse will certainly be a lot of fun, but I’d like to seem some interesting time stretching too at some point.

Just finished this feature yesterday. Excited for you to try it!

I didn't save it as an AUM patch, but I just played with it again and got it to crash. I did notice something odd that may be a clue.

The BPM in L7 while loaded into the FX slot didn't show anything. No BPM, only a dash. My AUM session was set to 60bpm with link enabled. Link is enabled in L7. When I manually set the BPM in L7 to 60... it worked fine.

The next time I loaded it, L7 matched the BPM of AUM as it should. But I noticed twice that L7 showed no BPM and only a dash. Those were the two times it crashed.

Hi Daniel and Aure - were you abled to reproduce the crackling in AUM? Or shall I provide more information or a screenrecording?

What I noticed - I get more crackles when it’s just a single loop running - the more loops I create (about 4) the less crackles.

I also see a weird behaviour of the BPM while Looper being in sync to AUM via LINK. On my first changes of the BPM inside of AUM the BPM in L7 follows as supposed - then when I keep dialing in more changes it all of a sudden freezes on the last amount and doesn’t adapt anymore to further changes.

And what I was also wondering - should it be possible to start/stop L7 via the transportation control of AUM when being activated in the LINK Menu - if so - it’s not happening like that for me ,,,

Also - I do experience many crashes while loading L7 directly from AUM - it crashes in 8 out of 10 attempts - and it crashes both - AUM and L7. The safest way is to load L7 first as standalone and then load it to the FXSlot in AUM - then it always works. But of course it’s a bit complicated - and a bit risky - when the whole sessions crashes ... for the case one forgets about it ...
