Just did a quick session in AUM. BS-16 sequenced by Atom, L7 into the FX slot. No crackles or crashes so far, and started L7 direct from AUM.

    ipad Pro 12.9" 2017 Gen2, iPadOS 13.3

Ok, weird - - but thanks for re-checking - just noticed that I am on 13.2.3. - maybe that’s a reason - will update over night and see if it solves the situation ,,,

You're welcome. Which iPad do you have?

  • I get the crash in AUM, too.
I have a feeling it is crashing when trying to load the previous project on startup.
I either get a crash to background, or L7 spends about 5-10 seconds on a black screen before it successfully opens.

I wish it would load to a new project or load project state instead.

A little buggy in AUM. Crashed a couple times. However, I used it in apeMatrix with seven tracks recorded including some source from apeMatrix and it didn’t crash at all. Very stable.

Not noticing any bugginess on my end. Could you post your AUM patch so I can take a look?

I didn't save it as an AUM patch, but I just played with it again and got it to crash. I did notice something odd that may be a clue.

The BPM in L7 while loaded into the FX slot didn't show anything. No BPM, only a dash. My AUM session was set to 60bpm with link enabled. Link is enabled in L7. When I manually set the BPM in L7 to 60... it worked fine.

The next time I loaded it, L7 matched the BPM of AUM as it should. But I noticed twice that L7 showed no BPM and only a dash. Those were the two times it crashed.

Got it. This helps a lot. Thanks!

Just played again in apeMatrix instead of AUM. Noticed link wasn’t turned on. So, I turned on link in apeMatrix and L7. Also got crash and weird BPM behavior like I did in AUM instead of stable like it was before. Looks like the problem might be related to link

Edit: just played again in apeMatrix with link off and still getting crashes and weird bpm behavior

I think I’ll wait until the next update to play with this anymore... feels like I’m beta testing an app I just paid for ;)

  • Having this as an AU Plug would be the dream. Could be pushing Enso from the throne 🤭

Is it possible to set the app to keep recording/overdubbing after the loop finished recording the first time. Some sort of auto overdub or stay in record mode or whatever? Haven’t found it. Would be essential for me (at least)

I had an issue this afternoon.

As soon as I can I'll try and see if I can replicate it again.

I had L7 running on both of my idevices.
Something happened with link and AUM whilst using it.

When I stopped the transport using AUM,
the play button kept on toggling between play and pause.
The same thing was happening within L7 as well.

When I switched of L7 on the iPhone, it kept on doing it on the iPad
until I had to restart the apps by clearing memory.

  • The AUM issues seem like they're intertwined with Link. I think I found the issue today and resolved it. Pushing up an update today. Hopefully it will be approved by Thursday!

  • Version 1.2 Release Notes

Thank you for your continued support! We've added even more goodies in this update:

    • Track reverse! Just swipe left or right on the waveform to reverse, and swipe again to un-reverse.
    • Adjustable metronome volume while importing audio.
    • All add loop buttons are always visible, no matter what the max loop is set to. This means you can quickly record loops that are longer than your initial loop without changing the max loop setting.
    • "A" button records up to 32 measures, no matter what the initial max loop is set to.
    • I/O buffer duration setting - set this lower to improve input latency.
    • Metronome mute button on the main screen (icon in the top right)
    • Setting to load a new session on startup.
    • Fixed crash on overdub.
    • Fixed bug where tempo couldn't be set over 150.
    • Fixed a few IAA and Ableton Link bugs.
    • Performance enhancements.

    Thx!

  • Am I the only one that can’t seem to get this working directly as IAA in AUM?

I can see it in the effect slot but it’s not available as a source. It looks like a few screenshots and videos have it showing up as a source.

I’ve gotten it to work in AUM through Audiobus but shouldn’t it work without AB?

  • First of all, I would just like to give my respect to the creators of the Audiokit Framework and to the developers of this and other amazing apps based on that framework, who's work is making music creation accessible to so many people.

I would just like to say something about the usability of AudioKit L7 - Live Looper as an IAA right now. My purpose is to load L7 on an FX slot on a DAW (AUM in my case) and then create loops of virtual instruments. What happens is that L7 is loaded in fullscreen, making unable to see the virtual keyboard of the virtual instrument, so one have to switch apps to play the notes and control the loops, which is pretty much unusable.
I suppose this is beacuse L7 is IAA. If it was AUv3, it wouldn't happen, since L7 would be loaded inside a resizeable window and then both L7 and the virtual keyboard are seen at the same time. Am I right?

Any thoughts on this? Is someone using L7 with the same purpose and using a more usable way?

    Cheers!

GTL works with slide over function so being IAA is not a problem if the app manages that. AUv3 will be more useful for AUM/AB users of course...

Thanks for the update - but I have to say that most of the buggy behaviour from the previous version is still present for me.

    • the loading crash in AUM seems to be solved

    • but the audio crackles and the BPM-change-crash (as described in previous posts) is still happening - I can provide a screenrecording if needed

And yes, I updated my IOS to 13.3 - am on IPad Pro 12,9 2017 - AUM - at a Buffer of 1024 - running just one instance of Klevgr´s Hilman as an input - into one single 8 bars loop in a 32 bars max timeline inside L7.

  • Anyone found how you reverse a sample yet ?

Just swipe left or right on the loop with a single finger to switch direction ...

Hmmm, good point, that’s an issue for me as the slide over option is a right hassle on my iPad.

    That's unusual.

I tested it a couple of days ago and managed to get 7 tracks of audio looping,
I also have it on my iPhone so I was testing both iDevices at the same time
routing the audio and synths out from the iPhone into the iPad.
I have a template in AUM setup specifically for Quantiloop.
With a couple of modifications I swapped out Quantiloop and put in L7
routing my four inputs straight into L7 with Neo Soul Keys and iGrand Piano
via a couple of AUM channels.

    Works solid.

My only complaints are that it's not in
stereo yet and it needs multiple audio outs.
The stereo part is going to be sorted
out in the next couple of updates.

I had a few crashes with Ableton Link but that's
been fixed in the recent update apparently.
    I've yet to test it.
I've got loads of other stuff happening musicially.

iPad Pro 9.7" 1st gen , iOS 13.2.2 buffer set to 256 samples

I tested again after reading your message - at first I lowered the buffer from 1024 to 256 - both inside AUM and L7 - and at first I thought this caused the problem - but after a while of testing I would say - crackling is less at 256 then at 1024 ... but still there ...

Then I switched off Ableton Link inside the settings of L7 - and as far I can see it right now - Link being enabled caused my problems .,,

I could literally switch Link off (no crackles) - switch it back on (instant crackles) - switch it back off (no crackles)

So - have you had Link enabled in your „stable“ set-up?

  • I have the same experience as @Gravitas No crackles, working perfect.

Stereo and multiple audio outs would be great!

Makes no difference. Very odd that you have crackles, you have the same hardware as I have. Already did a hard reset?

  • @Bon_Tempi sorry that it’s still crackling on your end. I know it must be frustrating to have other people with the same setup experiencing no issues. I can assure you that we do test this stuff before pushing updates. Unfortunately iOS likes to fight back sometimes (especially with 13).

Could you send me an email at [email protected] and include a video of the problem? That would really help me understand your setup so I can debug this.
