Virtual midi just works.....no setup needed in gadget.play/record gadget from cubasis, then twiddle you knobs::::)

    (But no sync yet)...

    In korg we trust....

    Thank you korg ppl.

  • Virtual MIDI? Oooh.

The function button works a LOT better now. I'd still like the ability to move clips around easily like in Electrify NXT, but the UI is definitely slicker after this update.

  • AB is a great step forward, and some useful other enhancements too.

Virtual midi...works for playing/recording gadget from cubasis,BUT...will not record any of my previous recorded gadget tracks.

Michael you need to be on a gadget instrument for cubasis to recognise it.

    Edit....

midi channels correspond to each other..
    1-16:)

  • I love that they made it much more smoother. Everything is super snappy now. Browsing drum samples was tormenting me.

    We love you KORG.

Btw: I've bought a Microsampler & and Electribe ESX this month. That's how much I love you :))

  • @Dham: me too. They have a very nice portfolio of apps. They're all awesome.

  • Not encouraging

    • Audiobus support (iPad Air/iPad mini Retina recomended)

That leaves a lot of people out in the cold

  • Looking forward to upgrading my ipad air TBH......

  • Wow, did not expect that much in first update. Can't wait to update tonight:-)

I don't think we will ever get a landscape view, the whole app is designed to be portrait, including the gadgets.

  • You're right, Simon, but maybe the great update will be when an iPad with 2Gb RAM comes out.

The latency is lower (at least on Air), and it's much more tighter and responsive when recording irregardless of latency/buffer, very noticeable when going nuts on London's drumpads. Great.

Anyone know what the yellow-ish lights above each gadget in the mixer is for?

  • Think yellow light is to show what instrument is active when used with another app via midi..?

Yea, do yourself a huge favour and wait until the next iPad comes out. The current Air and rMini are = thumbs down.

Ah might be it. Gonna try it out. Before, you had to go into the gadget/piano roll view to activate the midi.

Edit: Yea it's for activating the midi on that particular track. Great!

  • I have cracking/sound-dropouts when using gadget > turnado > aufx:space on my iPad mini Retina 7.0.4.

Or, if you want to make music now, not in December 2014, get an Air or rMini.

iPad 4 should be just fine until then. iPad 2 as well if you really don't mind freezing and conserving CPU / RAM all over. Would be a waste of money to purchase rMini or Air at this point, since they are "lemons"...Kinda like iPad 3 was. :)

Loaded up the demo with 14 gadgets going, Turnado in the fx slot, space in the output slot. And it held up, used 8 effects in Turnado (filter pattern, spectralizer, stutter, vinyl thingy, slice/dicer etc). At both buffer settings in AB. But, I'm guessing if I'd used the most demanding effects in Turnado (vocoders, spectralizers etc) I would get stutters at 256 buffer setting, maybe even at 512. So it all depends on what's going on and what effects are being used in Gadget and Turnado, some are way more demanding then others.

Edit: Forgot to mention I did this on the Air which is 100mhz higher clocked, and keeps a higher CPU performance for a longer period of time when comparing it to rMIni. But we're still talking really minor differences in performance here.

  • I would dispute that they are "lemons" . If you are always waiting for the next one you will never upgrade. I had the original ipad mini which was great, and with the mini retina having 4 or 5 times the power of that it is perfect for me at the moment.

  • Yea, the CPU is great for sure.
