What do you really expect here @McD? A meeting of the minds? We are not experts. Just a bunch of upset people. Your people, my people, his people, their people. Those who claimed over and over that this is being blown out of proportion, no worse than the flu. Have you heard any folks describe their ordeals?
Are we awaiting the hospital overload? Is the government of some state offering a pattern so housewives can sew masks for nurses and docs on their home sewing machines? Did 1000 retired docs and nurses volunteer in NY to help? Did the infection rate in NY double overnight? Did the prez just say an anti malaria drug is working successfully against 19? Did the FDA immediately say it’s a lie? Has Fox suddenly changed their tune?
I am a lost sheep but not a blindfolded one. We wasted weeks over ideology. False ideology. If one embraced those ideals, shame on you.

as gentle an "attack" possible but it does reveal potentially intense frustrations. This IS the VENT thread. Venting at idiots in general is OK. Targeting by name is bad. (I know there is some history but still... not the time.)

There will be rounds and rounds of finger pointing and justifiable claims of mismanagement
but it's a no win situation. Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst.
We have become inured to the realities of large scale loss of life: that will change. Just managing the remains will be an exercise in facing the harsh reality of existence.
A Why Me? moment of grasping to understand the magnitude of the loss without an end in sight.
It will tax the humanity in all of us to put our world back to some sense of a new normal.
Internet food fights just seem like a waste of our ability to communicate. We are essentially not that different in these circumstances.
It's a biological weapon of mass death... beyond our ability to contemplate. I pray I am overstating the potential psychic pain of this year. I fear I am not. We will become numb.
Why start raging at each other when it won't help.
The front line is in the medical community. We are just trying to stay out of the path of transmission for as long as each of us can. That's our role: buffers, insulators, inert matter.
My an earlier decade my wife would have been pulling double shifts on the front lines. Now she's an at risk survivor.

We disagree on this; I’m hopeful that one (and maybe one of the only) positive outcomes of this horrible situation is that it will end the polarization and anger between folks. We’re all humans, right?

While I can understand the need to keep schools open for the children of certain professions, the arrangements have been less than impressive. Surely governments have plans in place for this already? It seems not the way the list of those fitting the criteria is vague and has changed over night. School heads need clarity or they will be putting their staff in danger.
I hope all countries learn some good lessons and plan for any future problems.

There is no spell. Many people felt obliged to follow a certain path due to the choices being limited at reflecting their personal opinions. Hence the many changes of usual behaviour patterns.
Being all righteous and ‘smug’ does not break any spell or even help explain why some disagree - being righteous and smug only polarises opinion to a greater degree and even pushes away possible allegiances. ‘Live and learn’ in this scenario is just as patronising and likely to push people away further - but I somehow think you guys know all this and are just out to get your political jollies lol.

Were you attacked outside of a 7-11 right after 9/11 by a group of camo-wearing men who didn’t know you but assumed that you were an Arab because of the way you looked?
During your college years, did you deliver pizzas in the inner city and get attacked by a group of thugs who thought you were part of a rival Hispanic gang?
Have you ever been denied service at a bar or restaurant because of your appearance? I’m not talking about showing up looking like a bum without shoes. I’m talking about looking slightly different because of being mixed-race.
