Did the clicks get fixed? Or did everyone's iPad just get faster? (I'm still running an Air 1.)
Here it goes again. Dope. Dop! Dope!! Give it to me! I need it in my veins. I mean on my iPad and then in my ears.
Anyone else got hooked on Black Friday?
I promise to seek appoholic anonymous as soon as Xmas madness will end.
this is EXACTLY what i did during one of the the last sales. like identical lmao
I just got Gypsy Jazzy, but will refund it. It’s mostly loops and the few instruments included sound strange. If you’re looking for loops it’s probably fine. I only use BeatHawk for playable instruments and they are just not doing it for me. 😤
I‘ll look at the accordion pack next. Maybe that’s more to my liking.
Gonna try and get caught up early on this sale window so I'm not scrambling like a madman to get the sheet updated...

Accordion is pretty good @Artvarg. I agree with you about Gipsy Jazzy - thought it was going to be more instruments.
@dokwok2 no issues with Ravenscroft here. Ipad 6th gen and iPhone 8 Plus.
@Paulo164 you will not regret the acoustic grand.
Beathawk is great, but I just bought "Brass Riffs" pack and something is wrong with this pack too. Many trumpet sounds as if the volume jumped up and down, I don't know how to exactly describe this effect - defect, as if something was interrupting during play samples, check this example: http://dakti.ppa.pl/dakti/temp/trumpet.wav
EDIT: I know what cause this, stretch feature, this example is with stretch OFF (now is OK, but that is not the point to turn off stretch feature..) Do you have similar issues with another packs?
http://dakti.ppa.pl/dakti/temp/trumpet-no-stretch.wav
@dokwok2, no issues with Ravenscroft for two years, afaik, when the pedal noise issue was resolved as well. The best, useable iOS piano.
@Artvarg, the Vintage Accordion from Apesoft is the best. @Daveypoo has a very good vid.
@Paulo164, the Beathawk acoustic won the piano poll 2nd or 3rd place place way back. You can search it. If you donkt have Ravenscroft or Module American D, those are, by far, better choices, IMO. I will, hopefully, do a demo for you, tonite, tho.
I went back to it and it worked fine... I'm sorry for putting out a negative comment. It's
a very clever slicer. I hope you have the time and energy to update it to a newer connectivity API.
Oh dang it. Or maybe thank you, because now I will save money
That's one of the hard parts regarding some of their packs. Trying to figure out the balance between instruments and loops. I don't care for the loops, mostly
I used to have glitches on Ravenscroft but not any longer. I don’t know why exactly...
For me, it seems related to a quite recent iOS release but I can’t say for sure.
Anyway, it’s good and Ravenscroft is clearly my favorite piano on iOS.
Thank you @LinearLineman . I have Ravenscroft and Ivory (not American D).
I prefer Ravenscroft over Ivory. I tried American D during the trial period but I think I still prefer Ravenscroft so I will refrain from buying Am D.
My only complain with Ravenscroft is a release time issue on keys just below G#5 when “timbre” parameter is set to negative values. Has anyone else noticed ? I wrote to UVI’s support to report the issue and see if they can do something.
You have the content of the pack in the description so that you know before buying the number of instruments, loops, etc.
@Paulo164 a quick test of BeatHawk, Ravenscroft ad Module American D in that order.
Thanks a lot @LinearLineman, that's a great reference!
And a good example of how there's no simple "good" or "bad" in the better pianos. Each has its place.
@rs2000, can you interpret the SoundCloud visual readout. I mean, look how different they are yet it’s the same midi. What does it tell you about the difference in the pianos. Better, here are the waveforms...
@senhorlampada do you remember what time signature the Gypsy jazzy loops were in? Hoping for 4/4
The visual waveform representation on Soundcloud has almost nothing to do with the actual waveforms, it's a low resolution rough chart that seems to be sampled at random positions.
@rs2000 on the project screen... is it different volumes that account for the difference?
No, I really think that the low res shape is using sampling intervals that have nothing to do with the musical content so even if you repeat the exact same audio in one file, it won't necessarily look like that on the SC waveform.
I would totally ignore it, nothing you can do about it anyway.
People watch waveforms and spectra too much, this is not how our ears and brain work.
Are you asking how the audio waveform relates to the MIDI?
Audio waveforms are simply a graphing of the signal amplitude (volume) over time. Not really related to MIDI except in a roundabout way (just like it isn’t directly related to the music notation ... which would be mappable to midi).
Appreciate you doing this . I remember you did for BF too. 👍
Thank you very much for this comparison.
I must admit I am pleasantly impressed by Beathawk Acoustic Grand. Of course, listening is not playing. Maybe I would feel the difference if I were playing this piano besides Ravenscroft, as I do playing Ivory.
I think acoustic grand is a light version of their « Model D » desktop app.

@LinearLineman , do you know if Acoustic Grand offers sympathetic resonance as does Ravenscroft ?
Another question : I didn’t see any comment on their Electric Piano. How does it compare to Electric Vintage, House mark I and other EPs ?
I've been waiting for House Mark I to go up to regular price. Sales benefit Music Unit of the Creative and Performing Arts Division at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, so I want more money to got them.
@Paulo164, I don’t think there is string resonance on the BeatHawk pianos. I even wonder if it is important on iOS. The samples are just not detailed enough to make a difference, I think.
As far as electrics on BeatHawk, I have them and never use them. @McD recommends the Colossus electrics, tho pricy. Otherwise, NeoSoulKeys, House Mark1 and Vintage Electric should suffice. IGrand electrics are also good.
That is true. But on some packs, the description tells how many instruments there are, but not necessarily what they are (can't recall which now
)
But I never had issues, actually....
I don't have it
I was replying to @Artvarg who bought it
My bad, @Artvarg tag you’re it
