  • Anyone know if the IAP GeoSWAM instruments in Geoshred Play are interchangeable or transferable to the full Geoshred app?

    Thanks

No, the IAPs only work in the version you bought them in.

But I recently queried them about GeoShred Play vs. Pro and any possible differences regarding IAPs - because we have all seen cases where people do a "pro" upgrade in the "lite" or free version vs. buying the full version, but later regret it because the pro and lite versions separate in functionality or available IAPs. They replied saying GeoShred Play and Pro are the exact same code base (both apps come from the same software coding). So if you buy IAP's in Geoshred Play (like the Pro upgrade or the GeoSWAM instruments), they were saying you can have confidence that Play and Pro will always work exactly the same. Your investment will not pigeon hole you.

That being said, given a choice, always buy the Pro or Full version of an app vs. doing an IAP upgrade from lite to Pro if you haven't already started investing in IAPs in the free or lite version. Just keeps things simpler just in case there is a divergence.

    Thank you for your reply.

Yeah, I had got the Play version free on Black Friday, but hadn’t upgraded it.
I learned my lesson a few years ago with the IAP’s pro upgrade route instead of outright buying the separate pro version.
I do see the pro is now on sale, but with funds a little funny I was hoping I could purchase the $2.99 sax in Play while it was cheap, and later transfer to the standalone Pro app when I had a better forecast.

Thanks again for the info, now to decide how bad I really want it. 🤦🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

  • Ya, I was in the same situation - I got Geoshred Play for free a while ago and wanted to buy the full GeoSWAM IAP on sale a couple weeks ago, but I needed to buy the Play IAP upgrade to Pro first. The Play to Pro upgrade was $14.99, but Geoshred Pro was still $24.99. That's why I asked them about it - to see if I could get the Pro version for the $14.99 sale price. They actually offered me a discount to buy Pro (not the IAP in Play), and I immediately bought the full GeoSWAM pack.

This time, they are offering Geoshred Pro for $14.99, not just the IAP, so no issues anymore. But yes you need to get the Pro upgrade, or buy the full Pro version to buy the GeoSWAM instruments. $14.99 plus the $2.99 for the Sax is still a great deal to try it out. GeoShred by itself is pretty amazing even if you can't justify buying the other SWAM instruments.

How does WaveStorm stack up to other AUv3 wavetable synths on iOS?

It isn't intended to be a traditional wavetable synth. So, you won't be able to use wavetables from elsewhere. It has its own unique character, but for me it is quite crashy when using its wavetable editor.

you will find a lot of talk about it by searching the archives here. It used to be called scythe.

You can load your own wavetables as well. Lots of potential but, yes, it can be buggy.

Are you sure that you can load wavetables from outside the app without alteration?

I’ve only seen the important sound mechanism...which can grab wavetables (since wavetables are audio files), but they go through the audio processing mechanism I believe and aren’t imported as-is.

I could be mistaken if this was added recently.

Oh, weird. So this icon doesn’t import wavetables? It imports audio files (including wavetables) and then processes them differently to if it just used an external wavetable?

There is a wavetable creator available as an iap but it crashes the app alllllll of the time for me when I try to use it. I’ve written the developer about. I don’t know when or if it will be addressed but I can’t recommend anyone buying the wavetable creator

Me too tried to write him, well he did reply, but it got down to me doing this and that (testing) instead of him admitting something is not right with the app. It's not just the wavetable creator, the app is prone to crashes over all and is sluggish to run when it do work. I deleted it after regrettably have bought all IAP on the sale. This one and VADrum are my two - Very Deep Regrets - for buying.

All Yonac Apps on sale looks like 50%-60% off most of them. IAPS on sale too, including Tonestack IAP packs.

  • I can highly recommend the Yonac synths. I spent a few hours with Magellan 2 recently building a bunch of reece basses, very happy with the results

  • Any ideas if Bram Bos is going to have a sale this Holiday?

I tried it as well and it did work but seemed really weird, bad GUI, I didn’t quite understand how to use it and deleted it.

Really hoping that Quincy goes on sale with ScalePlay. Loves me some generative apps and missed it on BF.

Look at that, half price :)

It was an instant buy for me and the IAPs, just a fantastic piece of generative software unlike anything else on the iOS ecosystem. I’m having a blast with it! Very happy!

How different is Quincy from Xynthesizr? They're based on the same idea...

  • I hope to try it this weekend. Maybe someone else can answer?
