@Gratouilli I know this is like feeding the monster, but to answer the Mixbox - FabFilter question....they are different beasts. In reality you could do most of what you want in side the FabFilter plugs without ever needing anything else....surgical work, mastering limiting, a beautiful reverb, a very versatile saturation plugin etc. Mixbox to me is more of an experimental playground of sorts and also provides a different range of FX. Kind of like extending your palette of paints rather than replacing the paints you have.

I hear you. I also understand that MixBox is surely a very good tool to learn how to chain different FX for different situations... but, on my side, I really think that it could become a "all other FX on my iPad killer"... and I want to avoid this possibility 😂🙈.
BTW, it's UI is appealing and I'm sure that it absolutely worth the 44€... that I'll keep on trying to save in the hope that FF will release Timeless and Volcano as Auv3 soon 😎.

Yep. Timeless and Volcano....that's really what needs to be put on the table....I can see no reason other than some commercial reason why these guys shouldn't be making an appearance...all the code is ARM compatible and cleared for M1 native use...

Not that it matters to me since I already bought it, but where do you see TH-U full IOS for $64.99? I see it on the App Store listed at $79.99, which is lower than the regular price ($119.99).
Are all the IOS rigs on sale? You listed a couple at $11.99 but when I check out some of the others it seems like they’re regular price. I could be wrong though. I don’t have clear recollection of the regular price.

  • Overloud offers 50% to 70% discounts all he time on their desktop units.

I imagine we'll be seeing at least 50% discounts at some point — once their iOS development costs have been retired.

Or maybe not. They've only had any discounts these two times and those have been modest.

Drum Computer is very different 😇. The only that comes nearby on iOS is Ruismaker Noir. I have that too but the DFAM is pretty awesome too. Also being able to play without a screen in sight is pretty cool.

Had to Google DFMA. No Midi?. Mono?. That’s hardcore!.

  • Yeah buddy, someone here will have a happy drummer from another mother. Ask grandma and they play nice together! It has cv gate sync and there are ways to go midi> cv. Still im sure beitfreak will be in the loony bin soon enough. I mean if grandpa of his mother find out, well stay cool!

  • Well, I like the fact that it doesn’t has MIDI....sample and mangle it in iOS or just having fun with the GM.
Although I really like Ruismaker Noir (recommended!!) I find the oommphh, bleeps, blops and all other rare sounds of the DFAM a valuable addition. Also, MixBox seems to be a very nice tool to spice up the stuff even more.

    Thanks, @gabal.

I'm really on the fence about what bass amp sim to go with. If you watch these videos for bass sims (like for Overloud or especially the one for Bias), the bass playing is always like a parody of a session dude called in to play "Seinfeld" funk to accompany a corporate harassment video. It's always a five string or a fretless five string. And slapping. And copious bass face.

I'm of the Fender Precision school. I'm way more Peter Hook or Mike Mills than Tony Levin.

But is the Overloud stuff really superior to, say, the Tonestack bass amps? I'm really pretty happy with a decent Ampeg B15 sim....

  • Don’t forget Mammoth! @ExAsperis99

Same problem with my guitars and electric violin. No MIDI, all mono. I Iike doing some things the hard way I guess.

I don’t have overloud, but the ampeg collection in amplitube is my favorite bass amp sim. It’s way more than a “decent” b15. Tone stack is ok but amplitube feels and sounds better to me. I use amplitube svx2 when I need a bass amp sim on Mac as well. Amplitube 5 looks to be a cool upgrade but finances dictate that I have to wait on it for now.

My favorite thing on bass now is a DI with a Jensen transformer along with my guild thunder bass tube head through a 1x12 miked with a heil pr40. Sometimes I do them both together, sometimes the amp is recorded by reamping if it’s a situation where I’d want to avoid bleed into other mics.

Oh, and many of Tony Levin’s NYC sessions were P bass..,.A slapper he is not though. Peter Hook is a pretty non traditional bassist as well, not known for p bass work or holding down the bottom end. What he did was really cool, just not very traditional. I’m not an REM fan really but Mike Mills is certainly a good example of playing for the song with a nice tone and interesting note choices.

I do agree about most bass demos- it’s either ridiculous slapping that no one would ever play on a song or bad metal riffs with a completely distorted sound. I’m not anti metal, but what I see on demos doesn’t help to know what things sound like. Whole notes in the bass register would help for sure...along with parts from songs in context.

I’m in the Peter Hook team as well.
I found bass amp sims sounded a bit “far”.
Here’s something you might like to try if you haven’t: Nembrini PSA1000. It sounds fantastic.
I’ve also put some Ampeg IR responses (I use Impulsation) after it. You have a broader palette. Oh, and Bleass chorus sounds great on bass too. Forgot to add Nembrini Bass eq, it’s sort of magic.
The PSA1000 sounds great on its own, depending on the song the amp sim just clutters. I was not a fan of IR responses, I thought it was overkill and sort of snob, but after trying them I have to say I like them better than amp sims.

I don’t know, but I’m going to guess that the svt in mixbox shares dna with the svt in amplitube.
