How is the clavinet in Korg Module?
And I presume the Korg apps are IAA/AB3?

  • Can I recommend against the Ivory grand in Module, by the way... True it is better than the standard piano sounds you get in Korg Module, but they are really terrible. Ravenscroft sounds much much better, imo. Plus, is AU. I'd give Korg Module a skip entirely....

  • Thanks for the headsup. I think I will get the last pack in there,. .. the presets are really cool and since its AUv3.... :)
    C‘mon KORG!!!

Yes but Electribe Wave is the only one though so far. The synth not the whole app.

  • Pretty sure I’m going to jump into gadget while it’s on sale, any good reasons not to?

I love Gadget. I drop it for awhile, and always end up jumping back into it. It is alot of fun, not perfect but still seems pretty cool to me and one of the reasons I got an ipad was Korg apps. I'd say jump. YMMV.

However, if you get into it - you do end up spending a bit of dough on all the apps - unless you are more disciplined than me.

  • Imaginando's sale about to end. Snap up K7D, FRMS and DRC if you haven't already. All very good, K7D at the current sale price is an insane bargain for a very versatile tape delay effect.

I recently deleted gadget to make more room for Zenbeats. And I agree with @kinkujin, gadget can become a money pit.

I now own all three of these on iOS and on macOS. I would do the same for a few other iOS apps if it were possible but mostly it isn’t. Kudos to Imaginando for awesome apps and for supporting multiple platforms.

Gadget’s a funny one for me - it was the reason I bought an Air 2 when it came out, and I’ve spent a scary amount on individual Gadgets.

I love playing around on it, but I’ve never made a finished track with it. Then there’s the heat/battery drain issues...

So while I appreciate it, and love how it sounds, I could quite happily live without it.

If I could travel back in time, I’d still buy Gadget itself, and some of the apps that include Gadgets, but not bother with the majority of the Gadgets that don’t include standalones.

  • k7d is great

Hmm that’s interesting, the reason it’s attracting my attention is that so many peeps here say that they finish tracks with it like nothing else...

I definitely would be trying to stick to vanilla as much as possible, exporting stems and midi to get deeper with later but hoping that it might be a secret sauce to getting me closer to finishing structure...

  • I’ll always have an appreciation for Gadget. Wrote a whole album using it. Tracks transferred to Cubasis and finished there.

  • K7D is the best tape sim I've heard on IOS. You can use it as pure character box without even touching its delay functions. Just set to mix to 100% wet and bring the delay time and feedback down to minimum. Then the wow and flutter, saturation, and feedback can be adjusted to to bring out the character of the tape effect. Not to knock a more recent release this week.. but there's no comparison. Get K7D while it's still only $1!!

Thanks, hadn't thought of that trick @aleyas

K7D is a big favourite for analogue style tape echo.

As a guy who uses Gadget only as a "closed box" I'd be interested in how you transferred tracks to Cubasis.

I'd take issue with this, particularly if you're a Gadget user. Ravenscroft is better, definitely, but Ivory is pretty good, particularly in a mix. And Module's Scarbee electric pianos are particularly lovely. I used to own a Stage-73. The Module version is amazing for the money. I use Module sounds regularly in Gadget.

Get the basic version and spend some time with the sequencer before splashing out on the additional gadgets. I find it very fast to work in, and have recently committed more time to learning it better.

  • From what I remember, it was record the tracks and exported them to cubasis

I think it’s all down to workflow, and the type of music you make. I find the sequencer a bit clunky, plus I prefer to use non-gadget apps as well in my tracks. Others prefer the all-in-one solution. It also doesn’t suit my loose, soundscape style of music.

What I do sometimes, is load up Gadget into AUM and jam with it that way, though my battery needs charging again after about 30 minutes! Or sometimes I’ll export chunks and load them into Blocs, then host that in AUM as it’s more CPU/battery friendly.

  • Not sure if this has been mentioned...

Audio kit L7 looper reduced from $20 to $3. Not my thing but I know it’s beloved.

    👍

In the description it says that it was reduced by 50%, but the price was $20 and now $3 ?

  • Strange, shows $9.99 here

    @jolico, yup.

  • This is another app whose price has fluctuated a lot. I'm glad I got it at the intro price, which was also very cheap if I remember right

  • @mrufino1 @yowza @qryss @ruggedsmooth @tehskwrl
Thanks everyone for the tips on installing apps from unknown authors. I got it installed with your help. Love this place. Now I need to figure out how to use it! :D

  • Who uses L7? I recall it had great promise but needed work.
