You’re right. Essentials should be essentials.

Or you trick yourself, like I do. I have a Core Folder, and at its side, Essentials and a Midi Folder beside that one

  • I like to put each app in its own individual folder.
If I could then put all those folders into a single folder, that would really clean stuff up.

These big sales thread are only useful during sales event scenarios.
Like Black Friday, or this spontaneous Quarantine free/on-sale app bonanza.

Other, more normal days have only a few sales to keep track of, so there is no need for a sales thread that just goes on forever. The sales expire anyway, so are you going to need another thread to announce expired sales (with no discussion, of course)?

If you just want to know about sales, without all the banter, there are already other websites and blogs for this. We need to get info on apps here, and if the app is temporarily on sale, then you need the info before the sale expires.

I would argue this info is what is of value on this forum, not the mere fact that an app is temporarily on sale. Like I said, the current sales are available all over the web. Info about apps from actual users of the apps is generally why I visit this forum daily.

And the sales Wiki makes no sense at all. It would mostly be a list of sales that you already missed out on, unless someone is going to constantly update it for active sales only. But why do that, when there are already plenty of other websites and blogs doing this? Seems like a big waste of somebody’s time.

I agree on all counts. The “stay at home sales” thread is an anomaly. As far as wiki that was just a suggestion from someone else, but I been busy and to be honest didn’t feel Like doing it.

  • Ironic that complaining about off-topic messages only made it worse. I'm not concerned about it generally but those essential apps lists seriously do need to be another thread.

I think this is honestly why some people are having issues about the thread. I get talking about the sales and apps, but 1-2 pages of OT?

  • I read on kvr that klevgrand is having a 50% off sale for 2 days on 6/19-6/20. It’s still 6/18 here so I can’t confirm. Also not sure if it’s for computer and ios or computer only.

I have heard that brusfri is very effective in some situation where izotope rx has some difficulty, so I may pick that one up on sale.

  • Brusfri is amazing.

Cool, if the sale does happen tomorrow I will get it. I do a lot of location and live recording so this would be a help. I have rrx7 but sometimes the results are amazing and sometimes there are too many artifacts.

+1 on Brusfri. Modley is another one that is unique.

I really like Modley. I just wish the interface wasn’t so tiny/fiddly.

Their email announcing it says it's only for 34 hours and specifically mentions desktop (ie. not iOS).

    https://mailchi.mp/klevgrand/get-prepared-for-midsummer

Sorry to crush any dreams! :|

  • No iOS klevgrand sales in US App Store so yea probably just desktop

  • They did just have a sale on ios not long ago, so it would be strange to have another so soon

  • Aw man, don’t turn this into a not-on-sale thread!
    😉

  • brusfri, modley, reamp are fantastic. and degrader also !

  • Sorry! The klevgrand sale is only for computers, I didn’t know that. I did get brusfri though.

  • is patterning worth it? ive been thinking about it for a while but havent pulled the trigger because of 1. the price tag and 2. not auv3

what’s a good workflow with it? just IAA or make a bunch of loops and save the audio to import?

    Buy it! 100%

The sequencer is really innovative, the randomization is great, and the cloud kit sharing is really fun. One of the best non-AU apps out there.

Just picked it up myself, been waiting for a sale lol. It's pretty interesting. Just uploaded some samples and learning the ins and outs. Trying to decide what my main drum machine is going to be. This is a contender, if only, if only it was AUv3. But it's really interesting and seems pretty deep. Love the interface and sequencing. Had to look in the manual to figure out how to create a drum kit, but its pretty lit. The fact that you have to put in the velocity is really dope. Going to mess around with it with Cubasis later. Tuning is really simple also. Everything is pretty much in your face.

right yeah. ive definitely been looking for a main drum machine too. i like EG pulse but i have to sit down and make some drum kits for it. i have yet to find a good and convenient way to import samples into any drum program. everything (except for bm3) seems very clunky to me. i love how bm3 handles samples and the pads. being able to seemless navigate through folders in the app, audition the samples right away, then drag and drop onto the pads.

EG pulse and digistix both have drag and drop but i hate navigating and auditioning samples through the files app. i guess thats the clunky part i hate. it kinda kills my vibe when im making something in AUM.

i tried out the other EG drum machines and i kinda like those. being able to get a simple beat down, tweaking a few knobs and get a good sounding groove going. but its still not my perfect drum machine. and ofc i have ruismaker noir which is neat for some weird drum sounds but idk. still not perfect for me.

i definitely prefer auv3 but im willing to try patterning just because ive heard so many good things about it.

that and maybe elastic drums? idk im still not too sure about it. i definitely feel like im picky with drum machines. i just havent found one that really really resonates with me

Patterning 1 is free. It's made for iOS so if you're using an iPad it'll be small and you can stretch it, but its a great way to test out the system to see if you like it. It has the same flaws with auditioning samples, but I have resigned that the building a drum kit portion is just a preparatory step in the process. When you aren't feeling creative, put the kit together for when you are. I just went through a 808 sample kit that i downloaded and found the samples I liked and have it ready to go for my next extravaganza. Just seems like the nature of the iOS beast.

EG Pulse is great, but I understand where you're coming from, up until the last week I didn't really give it a fair chance, but taking another look at it, it's a top contender for my #1 drum machine. I'm looking at Patterning 2, EG Pulse, Digistix and Drum Perfect Pro right now. EG Pulse will probably be my AUv3 machine (Digistix is close but love those pads in EG Pulse, plus sEGments on the way) and Pattering 2 will be my, I just want to play with drums and if something great comes from it, i'll export it, machine (Previously DM1) lol.

I never say “get it” anymore for an app, but this is my favorite drum machine that I’ve ever used. I doing use them often, but I really like this one.
