  • This is so well done! As soon as you touch the matrix, it zooms in. It's a beast feature wise!

@Trueyorky, I like both your demos! The one with Gadget is the making of a killer track!

The bass sequence is gadget, right? And the noise, which interestingly enough, sounds like the background noise of my last cellphone conversation, along with the fade-in, is controlled by Ivcs3? This audio just sounds awesome! I am more and more amazed at what an ipad can do!

  • @Yendor thanks, I appreciate your comments.

According to the iVCS3 iTunes blurb Townsend put an organ through the VCS3 filter. So, perhaps the same is being done on the demo. When I saw The Who live on TV once the keyboard player was doing all that on an organ.

"Well-known examples of its use are on The Who track "Won't Get Fooled Again" (as an external sound processor, in this case with Pete Townsend running the signal of a Lowrey Organ through the VCS3's filter and low frequency oscillators) on Who's Next."

[edit] That blurb is a lift from Wikipedia.

Can't wait to get home and have a play with this tonight. That second demo in particular has whetted my appetite. It just sounds 'right'. I've never played one in real life but it's recognisable from those demos.

For all the people here who like iVCS3, please take the time to go a minute in the App Store for review, we are a small "company" (3 guys) and we need all your help to continue to do better.
    Thanks for Support :-)

  • Looks interesting but the lack of a tutorial vid is annoying. Looking forward to Doug's review video!

  • Jumped in and bought it ! ,Doug I need your help !! I'll keep checking for the vid

  • OK so the video will be live in about 15 minutes I think, 24 minutes of complete madness, I try to cover as much as possible but there is a lot, dont expect to much technical stuff from me becuase I dont understand how all this works inside and the sim is very very close to the original. But
I do show you how to do lots of stuff and I had a great time making it. Thats one of the reasons its so bloody long, I kinda jusy get lost in iVCS 3 land....which is very easy to do :-)

Yeah you will, its very very cool

  • Sounds awesome, Doug!

  • Hey guys. I know this has been asked before, but.. here goes! Having Pulsaret already, which of the remaining two would it be worth getting? I love granular Synthesis, but I rarely if ever go to that particular one.. iDensity's appeal is in it's waveform display (at least to me); being a percussionist at heart (or before and for a much longer time than i was anything else) i find interfaces like that of SMPLR very interesting because I can record a succession of discrete chords or sounds (with a little bit of silence between each, which translate into indentations visually seperating them) and then can trigger them or parts of them in various ways.. Also, it seems iDensity can sit in all slots, including the effects one in Audiobus. As for Stria, it intrigues me because of somethings i've read about it, but any concrete examples, or practical questions would help..

I wish someone who has two, or better, the three of them would be so kind as to post a quick video explaining, comparing, or simply showcasing them. I think quite a few other than I (judging from the number of such inquiries spread out throughout the forum and beyond) would benefit from it, especially before this one day sales is over.. TicTocTicTocTicToc......! The time is near... (Suspense backround music..)

  • Here is the video

  • @TheMetaphysicalCrook for Stria is difficult to explain, watch this:

for iDensity is the first app, like Samplr, that you can touch the wave (with granular synthesis features) and is particolary cool for drone.

Sale lasts 2 weeks, no rush...

  • Stria is fantastic, I shall do a video very soon

  • Top man Doug because I have never got very far with any of those apps.

  • Got it, excuses: none, guilt: some, time to explore: limited. Bummer!

  • Having so much fun with this app (iVCS3) that I decided to revive my blog and write a short review of it

You should also take a crack at iPulsaret (I'm always curious to see how others use that app)

  • Is it just me or is this thing begging for a Lemur template?

    @Sinapsya
Midi Learn? BCR2000 has lots of knobs!

  • This App is really nicely done. The interface is super smooth and the sound is great but I think the thing I like the most is that the design "helps" you approach sound creation from a slightly oblique angle. Instead of the usual basses, pads, leads, etc, which are all possible, it tempts you into dispensing with the keyboard to produce hands on blurbly rumblings. Once you get you're head around how the envelope re triggers and the level of control on offer from multiple sources it' can produce some rather tasty noises, ......if you like that sort of thing :)

  • I can't figure out how to get the iVCS3 to work in the effects slot in Audiobus. Would someone be kind enough to walk me through it? When I put it there all I get is silence. Which I'm sure my neighbors appreciate. I tried consulting the manual but I can't work out what it says on this matter.

    Thanks in advance!

  • The patch matrix is key. It controls all the routing. If you don't have the external inputs routed into your signal flow you will not hear them.

  • I can't get FM to work properly. Can anyone confirm? When I try to modulate the pitch of one Osc with that of another, at audio rates, I get a strange s/h modulation.

  • Thanks very much, PaulB! Boy do I feel dumb.
