  • Theres no effects on stuff. Even volca modular just using its own reverb ( just a test )

But volca modular is cool. Just made a few youtube patches since bought and thats how it will be. No cable switching live. Wont be able to see lol. But even as an additional layer. Same with volca drum. Its can be like sort of a sample player. It can be a synth. With its own sequencer and no need for volumes in aum as they have volumes.

  • Anyone know what transport issue is. Nanokontrol is set to toggle. So it highlights when stuff is off. No light, loop will be playing or will play on next loop ( when it works ) like sampler mononoke.

    Drambo is set to momentary.

Midi channels are the same but different cc.

If adding a new sampler. You restart aum so its in sync.

But it works different like I described.

  • Its mapped now and working. Like it was but will probably become inverted on some samplers.

Whats most likely to make samplers to become inverted via transport? Normal you can press transport anywhere in pattern and it will tell trigger to not play pattern next time. Transport again anywhere in pattern will make pattern play on next trigger.

Inverted being transport via midi just stops sample, then sets it to beginning, then dosent listen to triggers.

Nanokontrol is set to toggle but momentary in drambo?

Do loopers via transport tied to aum clock become confused if you press transport erratic. Sort of like a dodgy record loop?

    A bug?

@giku_beepstreet I would be interested to know if/how Drambo runs on an M1 Mac. Of course I can understand if you prevents this in the first place (even if it might work technically). In the long run I would like to use Drambo as a plug-in inside Logic. When I own an ARM Mac one day ...

I was brave and made it available for M1, while still waiting for my machine (should be here in 2-3 weeks).

    I have a suggestion.

    Simplify.

This is advice I give myself as well...

Take one sound source or loop and sample it.
A drum loop is perfect for this purpose.

Go through all of the functions of the Flexisampler
and see which are the functions you need.

If you have to much going on and you're trying to learn
something it's not going to happen or it'll take you much longer.

Much like trying to find a bee in a beehive for instance.

You may have found a bug in the Flexi Sampler
but I don't know, for the most part it works.
I haven't had any problems with it in usage.

    Thanks Gravitas.

This is how its ment to work but samplers can become sort of inverted like I described and transport is sort of opposite.

If that ends up being ok, along with maybe an aum timer for any iaa, which can follow drambo timer. It will be cool.

  • Do you know if loopy timer would follow drambo timer, when viewed in audiobus sidebar of any iaa?

    Thanks.

  • @sigma79 said:

What do you mean loopy timer? The cycle counter in Loopy tells you how many cycles to record for. What a “cycle” is depends on the first loop you recorded and the settings you have set up..

    Do you have Loopy?

  • What are we gaining from looping apart from a migraine? Im set in my looping ways now.

  • I thought maybe state saving midi mappings of transport with aum timer on might be a glitch. So state saved without aum on.

Dont have loopy so if its not a timer then I guess it wont work. Thought it could just be set as a timer without creating a loop in loopy.

    Thanks

  • Might have to buy Moodunits. Its 66 percent dsp just on a loop, without effects and 1028 frames. What a moron.

  • @sigma79

    I have two specific loopers.

    Quantiloop and Audiokit L7.

Quantiloop is super solid and is IAA only but I don't know
if it will give you the length of recording time you need.

Audiokit L7 is a good looper but it has a tendency to unpredictably
skip recordings at times and the developer has taken a break from it.
Which is a pity as I thought it had potential and I think it still does.

I haven't tried any of the others as between
Quantiloop and dRambo I have all the looping functions I need.

If neither of these apps fit your purpose let's find one that does.

Let's start at the beginning and see if we can get this sorted for you.

Espiegel123 always has good suggestions and very good advice actually.

    Also apologies for my editing.
When I see my sentence structure is
non chronological or is not clear enough I edit it.

    I hope you don't mind.

  • @sigma79

This is one of my tracks done using Quantiloop.

I can't remember of the top of my head all of the apps I used but I do have
it saved some place so I could list the apps if you would like to know in detail.

Its actually easier to read maybe. Recent macula issue ( i think ) Makes reading difficult. Its maybe easier to focus central, although its a central vision issue.

If drambo dosent un-map from what I showed you or sort of invert. Should be ok. Will see if its anything to do with toggle via controller.

    Thanks

Good track. Highly acomplished. Felt like I was in a stylish bar. Wouldnt think it were made on ipad though. Is the bass more to right? Just to confirm if my headphones are panned.

    Thanks mate.

For co-ordinated loops, I don't think there is anything as solid as Loopy -- particularly if you want long loops -- I have had projects where each loop was several minutes long. It has a ton of options and deeply MIDI mappable. For structured coordinate looping (i.e. if you are using loops for verse/chorus/bridge type stuff), Group the Loop. I don't have enough experience with Quantiloop to know where it fits in.

L7 is ok but I find Loopy more solid and more flexible. Loopy also lets you have synched or non-synched loops.

I haven't used Drambo's looping. So, I have no idea where it fits in on that front. Mostly, I use Drambo for creating crazy delays and guitar fx.

  • @sigma79

Yup, the bass is more to the right.

I mixed this one to give it more of band performance feel than an a studio recording.
I enjoy giving live instruments a much wider stereo image.

I agree, you wouldn't think it was made on an iPad.

    Glad you enjoyed it.

    Yeah its a good track.

Good for me also to get away from cheap digital sound and feel like Montana in Manhatten.

I will see how Drambo is then probably buy loopy pro but loopy hd is just £5 anyway.

    Cheers dudes.

  • @espiegel123

Quantiloop is a straight forward looper.
Hit record, loop 4/8/16 bars and done.

    Nothing fancy really.

It acts as a host so it's aimed at musicians
who need a straight forward looper pedal.
It only has the ability to record four loops at a time
though you can overdub and add layers on each ,'channel'.

I got it because of that.
I was going to use it with my live band but that's on
hold due to ,"external circumstances", as it were.

In regards to Audiokit L7 if it wasn't for it's unpredictability I would use it all the time.
It's supposed to be able to record 16 channels at a time
and in the earlier stages of it's release I did managed to record
more than that but as I've mentioned the dev stopped developing it.

I was going to use it for creating on the spot vocal lines and choruses
but until the dev sorts out the recording bug it's unusable for now.

dRambo isn't a dedicated looper but you can configure it
to be used as such with a foot pedal for record triggering
    hence the Flexi Sampler discussions.
I've left a template on patch storage with Flexi Samplers on all 16 channels.
You would have to map the functions yourself though,

Giku is going to create a Flexi Sampler v2
with better looping functions I do believe.

Loopy sounds very interesting considering it can record long length times.
When I start doing looping recordings again I'll have a look at that one.

  • Just so people know.

Flexi sampler is mapped to controller, with monitor not mapped ( no spare button ) but always on. After record via midi and when triggered via sequencer, you can transport control, anywhere in the sequencer to turn off loop. Then press transport again later on, anywhere in sequencer and loop will keep looping. Sort of an advanced mute and advanced trigger. With remove also it will clear loop and with monitor on. You can either overdub or just send audio.

I’m trying to test it out on an M1 mini, but it doesn’t show up in the App Store. Is it still available ?

  • edited November 2020

One of our beta testers did check Drambo on M1. There are some problems, like disappearing audio, while working with external audio interface. Waiting for my mbp to sort them out.

Cool. I’ll wait until then! Happy to help test, PM me if you’re interested.

  • @Gravitas I own Quantiloop Pro but the user interface... dunno why but I just can't get friends with it. Maybe I should visit a 3 day Pro course 😬
If it only was a as fun to use as Loopy HD... which is still my go-to looper, also runs well as a MIDI clock slave.

I hear you on the interface that's why I was so happy
when Audiokit L7 turned up and then so disappointed when
the dev stopped actively developing it.

Saying that I wrote loads of grooves with Quantiloop to use with
my live band but due to ,"obvious", reasons I put those on hold.

Maybe I should visit a 3 day Pro course 😬

Nah, you don't need a three day course.
Stick a midi foot pedal in, stomp on record and twiddle
then stomp to end the recording then move on to the next part.

Well,.... that's my three day course Lololololol

If it only was a as fun to use as Loopy HD... which is still my go-to looper, also runs well as a MIDI clock slave.

I have a little schedule that I like to keep throughout the year
and January through till March is normally my time to get
really creative so I may actually try Loopy HD.

  • @Gravitas 😄
I know I should give it another try. Thanks for the free course. p
But wait, Drambo is an AUv3 looper while Quantiloop isn't? 😱

    Schedules are good 👍🏼

    No worries. 😁
    Glad you like it.
Quantiloop can be fun and I managed to get two Quantiloops
synced using my iPad and my iPhone to get extra tracks.
The routing was a little crazy but it was doable.

But wait, Drambo is an AUv3 looper while Quantiloop isn't? 😱

    Exactly this.

I've got a template for dRambo someplace that I need
to finish which is set for barebones live looping.
Useful for on the spot vocal takes.
I love doing three and four part vocal harmonies.

    Schedules are good 👍🏼

    Yup...Otherwise I wouldn't know what time of
the year it was except for looking at the sun.
Right now is servicing my equipment time of year.
I'm currently repairing my microKorg and
this coming week is finishing Jambo v1.5

When creative time hits, I'm normally gone for a month or thereabouts.
