  • how many times in your life does anyone need to use tape stop sheesh lol i personally can’t stand that effect 🤣 are the effects all 1/32th notes made for fast crazy music or can you drag a filter out longer to actually make something that sounds creative and not like you have been smoking meth all day??

I’d really like to see/hear it if that’s possible... is there any way of posting an example? 😛

Lol I had to log in to laugh and show appreciation for this post. I’m in a very Larry David mood so it hit me just right. I feel like every ‘artist’ gets one tape stop to use in their recording career. One is plenty, it’s not something you can really return to the well for. Choose wisely!

Haha. I was pondering this, wondering if I needed it since I have both egoist and effectrix and never use either. You decided for me with your amusing post. I’ll spend it on meth instead.

hehe My first Egoist experiments are filled with the tape stop. hehehe It's too fun but sort of like "first day with a new gadget?" type of stuff for me.

The graphic equivalent is the curled page corner effect, beloved by designers in the 90’s.

You can get away with using it once, but after that...

  • Have the desktop version. Awesome plugin. Insta purchase!

  • haha glad you guys caught the huuu——uumooorrrr (tape stop effect!)
i agree we all get one free pass on tape stop, after that you’re teetering on the edge of losing your creative license

also im mad they made this and not drum computer for ios 🤬

  • But can you tape stop drum computer?

i hope so cuz that’s my goal in music!! 🤣

  • I sincerely hope those buying this get some great results and enjoy it but since I just bought Effectrix on the sale I am taking a pass.

I know, “John, who gives a f#@k?” Well, I’m a serial instabuyer and when I was in another thread and heard SugarBytes had just released something my money was half way out of the wallet. Resisting this is progress...

Okay anyone tried it as an auv3 fx ?

  • Once I saw the name 'loop' in the title I was almost ready to buy without watching a YouTube demo as I thought it was a Sugar Bytes tale on a looping app. Once I watched a video or two and tried it and realised it was an effectrix type thingy, my appaholic hard-on was on a fast train to Droopsville.

I think this will be esp. fun for live use.

The top-most lane of the Effect Sequencer visualizes the audio input into Looperator. The input is recorded in real time and automatically sliced into 16 steps. Use the Slicer to rearrange these slices.

Regarding slicing, the manual cautions that Looperator cannot see into the future - and slices may not look ahead either...

The UI is perfect for iPad (unlike some earlier SB ports), and there are scores of automation parameters.

  • WOW I wrote them asking for them to port this over about a year ago.
they did it.......thank you Sugarbytes developers....Bravo

  • As a plugin, audio input is always external (live).

In standalone mode, the audio input mode can be selected in settings.

  • And for those practicioners of live granulation, Grain is one of the available effects:

By this do you mean AU parameters are exposed in the host, or do you mean the app parameters in the gui?

    Exposed to the host.

There are 6 tracks (Slice, Loop, Env, Filter, FX1 and FX2). Each track has 4 assignable user effects. Each user effect has 5 exposed parameters, the last of which is Mix. (See for example the five Grain parameters above.)

In addition, the randomization and mix of each track can be automated. (In the apeMatrix image above, I was randomizing a couple of tracks on the fly.)

  • Note that Grain Amount, above, is assigned from an exposed Parameter. But, in addition to parameter automation, there are three other sources of modulation: Motion, Random, and Envelope Follower:

  • This is exactly the sort of randomisation that Effectrix needs to turn it into a killer app.

yes, and why I'm gonna have to cave

I love the concept of Effectrix but the effects aren't quite to my taste (too many scratch and loop fx), I'm interested in this but the tape stop and record scratch effect that features prominently in the demo vid kinda turn me off....maybe 4Pockets Flux is another similar option

Yah the demo vid doesn't sound anything like what I use Looperator for.

Do you have any interest in making video of how you use it...?

  • I feel it's tailored to particular genres and you have to work a bit to make it fit your way. I used it along with Effectrix and other stuff on the laptop, running audio through them multiple passes and heavy editing the results. I remember not being overwhelmingly joyful to work that way, but it did save time editing the stutters manually. And it could offer happy accidents. Don't look at the vid if you have problems with black/white fast cut!

  • I love Sugar Bytes. Prolly my favorite developer. This one really isn't for me. Too samey (for me) and somewhat old-fashioned sounding (in my clumsy hands). Will consider the money invested in their work moving forward...
