  • Sony MDR 7506, they’re all I use, paired with Morphit

  • @YannisHatzi : Thanks! Slowly assembling my studio, and headphones are on the list, so this is very relevant to my interests.

    Me too! Cheers!🙏

Same here. I know Sony MDR-7506's get slammed for being too harsh and overly anemic bass response but I have been using them since like 1994 so I know them really well.

Like @Fingolfinzzz I have been using the Morphit app to mix and it's been really interesting. I still do a lot of reference listening on different speakers though...

  • Samson SR850. Great on a budget. I used have a pair of Sony 7505 and the Samson's sound just as good to me. But a lot of the time I'm using my JBL Live 100 earbuds unless I'm actually mixing or other critical listening.

BTW, if anyone needs earbuds those JBL are on sale for $7.99 down from $39.99. I usually just buy $10 earbuds and these are much better for the prie

  • Shure SE846's. I find good IEMs to be more accurate and have less translation issues than over/around the ear headphones of the same price. It's a personal thing though I know.

  • Audeze LCD-2s on a Grace 9XX headphone amp, and sometimes by themselves.

Holy crap, did not know you could get them in aluminium, best gets better.

    Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro
    AKG K701
    Audio Technica ATH-M50 and M50x

Plus some Audio Technica E40 and Linsoul KZ ZSX IEMs.

    I use Morphit as well.

  • I use Bang & Olufsen H6s and H9s. They lack some bottom but the mid-range is super detailed for what’s, I guess, the lower end of premium. They don’t have great isolation, so that should definitely be considered. I’d also suggest you look for a headphone type supported in Tone Boosters MorphIt (the B&Os are not, sadly), because I have a feeling that it would be very helpful when mixing on headphones.

  • Grado SR 60s and Sony 7506s. can't recommend them enough. But most everything is done on monitors.

  • For those who have morphit, I’m wondering how well it works for unlisted headphones, say the ‘generic earbud headphones’ setting? Can this basically turn anything into an OK monitor?

  • Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro (250 Ohm)

  • Apple headphones

Yeah I found Morphit to really help with the lack of low end with them and ease the highs. I really like using the simulator as well to compare and seek out any trouble frequencies I missed before listening in the car for my final judgement

  • To know your equipment is the most important. I use the akg k271ii since 2008, it’s very cheap nowadays and works great.

  • Sennheiser HD650

    Focal Spirit Pro

    Beyerdynamic DT770

I also own Sennheiser IE8s, Sennheiser HD25s, Bose QC25s and some Philips bluetooth headphones.

For mixing the HD650s paired with TB Morphit are really good IMO.

  • Sony MDR7506, Akoustyx R-210 IEMs

  • AKG K275
    AKG K240 studio
    Beyerdynamic DT880

That actually makes perfect sense. IEMs don't have any issues with ear resonances, because they deliver the sound straight into the ear canal to the eardrum, so they are going to be more accurate. Regular headphones can't account for variations in anatomy, so they have to make compromises.

DT 770 Pro now. I used Sony 7506 previously, but I had some problems with bass translation. The 770 gives me a better perspective for low end. It really depends on your ears though. My friend has no problem with his 7506.

  • Audio-Technica ATH-M30x’s and Sony MDR-XB50AP’s

  • The same pair of Sennheiser HD600s since 1997.

Replaced cable 3 times and padding once since I got them.

    They still sound amazing.

  • Shure SE215 with TB Morphit.

  • Krk-kns 8400, had them for years, my favourite cans so far.

  • Lidl orange headphones €9.99.
