Prophet 5 always had a very distinctive sound, but it always seems so “squishy” compared to Moog for my tastes.
Oh boy, I would kill for diva on ios
Both combine quite well. Polyphonic Prophet, monophonic moog.

The pro-one on bass on his Yaz material sounds so damned good.
Analog tracking on bass is not to be underestimated...
I used a rev 3.3 Prophet 5 onstage for many years. I bought it without MIDI in 1982, and had it MIDI-retrofitted for cost when I worked at Sequential in 1985. This was the rev with Curtis chips, not the SSM chips of earlier revs.
Arturia’s Prophet emulation for Mac and Windows is just OK compared to the real hardware. For example, I can do a better emulation of the helicopter patch from Prophet bank 5 using the Phoenix synth in Korg Gadget 2 than what Arturia’s app preset gives you.
But if you’re patient and willing to do some programming, you can make great sounds with anybody’s similarly-featured hardware or emulation app.
For anybody needing Prophet repair or maintenance, Dave Sesnak at Wine Country can repair them. See

Wait… you sound like someone that might know what you’re talking about. How did you find us?
I'm quite a fan of the U-he REPRO-5 synth for Win and Mac. Well-usable UI and great sound imo.
it’s also on iOS

This is a Prophet VS emulation though (and an older version than the current desktop counterpart, although I don’t know if there’s any difference in sound between them)
He mentioned Prophet V so i supposed he meant Prophet VS emulation .. in terms of DSP (eg.sound) iPad version is 1:1 same as desktop version.
But yeah, there is not actually single "Prophet V" thing in Arturia's portfolio but two - the "V" in name is just name of whole product bundle, and prophet emulations in this bundle are:
Prophet 5 V
https://www.arturia.com/products/software-instruments/prophet-5-v/overview
Which is emulation of analog Prophet 5 (doesn't have iPAd version)
Prophet VS V
https://www.arturia.com/products/software-instruments/prophet-vs-v/overview
Which is emulation of digital Prophet VS (do have iPad version)
Both synths have completely different sound character (both original HW versions and Arturia emulations)
I’m aware, but I think there’s a bit of miscommunication, @lecycliste said they used a Prophet 5, not V
The new Prophet emulation King is Softube Model 80 anyway. I sold my Uhe Repro to get it.
I hope we see Softube stuff for iOs in the future. 😀
Still doesn't sound that fat like this dude :-)
Zeeon is the closest I’ve found.
Interesting... what do you see as the advantages of Softube's emulation over Uhe's? I'm a huge fan of Uhe and their (always) amazing presets that really show off the capabilities. My understanding is that the Softube version is more like the original, but having played with Repro 5 demo, I'd say it's pretty close.
Well it s just a personal preference ... i don t use the effects from Repro cause Repro can easily sound not like a Prophet .. Model 80 is more barebone here .. i easily get distracted by too many options ... if i buy a vintage emulation i don't need no extra features...
I hope one of these awesome synths will be ported to the iOS, we currently have a big empty Prophet 5 hole on the mobiles.
I have send an email to SoftTube, with a beg and please to port to the iOS.
Oh god I hope so!
Well, I got an answer but a bit vague: “I’ll do what I can for now which is save this as a feature request!” And that unfortunately he cannot comment on upcoming releases. So we will have to wait and see what time will bring us.
Today I try to contact U-He with the same question. 🤞
Good luck
Response from U-He, they refer to a very recent KVR forum discussion about this, I copy/pasted their response, here is the whole thread https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=8674259
He explained why it's unfortunately not likely to happen in the near future.
“This has nothing to do with AUv3, which we have working (but which is mutually exclusive with AUv2, hence doesn't currently make sense to pursue). It has everything to do with iPadOS, the App Store and the mobile apps ecosystem.
Here's the dilemma: If we port to iPad, people have to double buy the apps - we can't cross grade between apps and plug-ins. If people buy the apps, they'll expect them to run on MacOS (not doing so means bad shit to happen...). But latter also means we need to price them the same (but people expect waaaay lower prices in that eco system). So no matter what, there's no good way for us to do this. At this point I can't even figure out what it is that needs to happen for things to become viable.
I get so many headaches over these issues, I'd honestly rather spend my time working on new things than the hassle of supporting yet another platform.”
Wondering how is possible that other plugin creators/companies like FabFilter, Eventide, Audio Damage and others managed to do go multi-platform when there is so much issues. Even TAL released already one plugin to iOS.
Those are just excuses, in reality he simply see that he can earn more from just desktop plugins. Which is totally valid from business point of view, he is entrepreneur not charity, but i don’t like excuses instead of honesty.
I'd rather hear "The iPad version of U-He will be out next week," but I actually wish more people would think like this guy. He's doing what he's good at, he enjoys it, and he isn't going to be lured out of that by mere money.
Ironically money (effort/profit ratio) is only one true reason he doesn’t want to do it. You need to read between lines
He is talking about people are going to have issues when going cross platform with the cheaper prices for ios. I wrote it i understandable that the cheaper prices is just for ios, and people cannot expect it will work for the same price on the desktops, these are separate buys. Same with AudioThing, I have Outer Space on OSX but will have to buy it again on the ios, and that’s fine with me as long as you communicate it with the customer. I think he is missing out on a lot of buyers especially now that Logic is around the corner. I think people will quicker buy a €25 synth on the ios than a €149 synth on the desktop, but I could be wrong. Anyway I did the best I could, it’s up to the developer.
They will forward the thoughts to the team, and even if they decide to go that route it will not be sooner than the next two to three years…
Anyone has any suggestions of another great Prophet 5 emulation on the desktop I can write to?
Thanks Slush for trying.
It was worth a try
I guess we have to convince Arturia to give iOS another try then
