Seems to work Ok for me @jking . By PM unloads do you mean it crashes ?
The AUv3 version can’t see the files that the stand-alone version produces and vice versa. This is an iPadOS limitation.
The export / import facility is designed to get round this.
What works for me is generate a motif in stand-alone. save it. Export it using the Motif option and save it on your iPad.
In AUM load PM as an AUv3. Use the Import option to import the file from where you saved it on the iPad.
Note that the AUv3 version only supports some of the time signatures available in the stand-alone version so you need to make sure it is one of the supported ones.
Thanks, yes I did do what you suggest but it crashes. I’ll check the time signature. I set the bpm in AUM to be the same as the motif but I still get an error saying that the bpm is different to that of the host. I’m sure that it’s me doing something stupid!
Hi @jking , sorry you're having issues importing motifs. If you don't mind, I will DM you with some questions to see what the problem could be.
Hi @yowza, @jking. I will try to collect some motifs and have them accessible in one place. For now, I have a good collection of YouTube tutorial videos (22) with step by step instructions on how you can configure Piano Motifs:
Thanks, I’ll have a look through. I really appreciate all of your efforts 👍😄
Nice. I like those controls. How hard is it to add a similar feature to the bass and/or chord
parts. I could make some awesome rhythm arrangements with that extra capability.
I like that when I used “Share” IOS offered me Piano Motifs in front of “AddStation” and dozens of other app, as if they could unpack a “motif” file.
Hi @McD , that functionality already exists for accompaniments too, albeit only one sequence. It is even more powerful in the sense that you can determine the type of chord. Use the Accomp Seq Accomp Style:
Nice.I finally found that sequence option when I dialed “Accom Seq”. I was expecting another side button label SEQ.
Hi @yowza and @jking, I have collected a handful of motifs in my website:
https://sites.google.com/site/azul3dapps/home
They are under Sample Motif Files.
I will try to add more as I find some time.
Once again you have listened and delivered! Love the layout on the webpage and really appreciate you taking the time and trouble to provide this for us 👏👍😄
If anyone is interested I have added more Piano Motifs Sample Files to the webpage: https://sites.google.com/site/azul3dapps/home
Enjoy!
Thanks! 😄👍
A new version of Piano Motifs (v4.77) is now available. What’s new in this version:
• New Multi MIDI Channel option for the Accompaniment (AUv3 Only). When this option is selected the notes played on a beat of the Accompaniment will be sent to different MIDI channels.
• The number of bars for each section of an arrangement are now displayed on the Arrange Screen.
• Fixed crash that can happen when an arrangement is created from scratch in the Arrange Screen and the motifs selected have Swing Rhythm, Triplets or 16th Notes. When the arrangement is saved and later on loaded, a crash can occur.
The Multi MIDI channel option will work better with accompaniments that play multiple notes on a beat: all Chord type accompaniments, Note Sustain Mult Bar, Arpeggio w/Bass, Melody Chords, Serendipity or Serendipity w/Bass.
Please note that this option may sometimes result in a musical cacophony if careful attention is not given to the different channel instrument assignments, their octave ranges, and their volume levels. Sometimes less is more. You might achieve better results by using the Single Channel option with the 3rd Track and the Melody Harmony On.
An example of the use of the Multi MIDI Channel option for the Accompaniment can be found here:
Enjoy!
I thought I would try and produce the musical cacophony that @azul3D_Apps eluded to but hopefully I failed.
One instance of Piano Motifs outputting (in this case) to 6 different channels. Free Decent Sampler sounds throughout.
Exceptional service and updates as usual! Thank you very much you are a star 👏👍
Well, that's lovely.
Interesting new feature, @azul3D_Apps !
You definitely failed, but you got some fine music and a good title ☺️.
@jking, thanks for your kind words. ✌️
@lukesleepwalker , yes, it is hard to tame, but it can produce some interesting results.
A new version of Piano Motifs (v4.78) is now available. What's new in this version:
• Added the ability to program a second sequence for the Accomp Seq Accomp Style.
• Added the ability to choose between Odd or Even rest bars when using the Accomp Rest Every 2 bars option.
• Improved the generation of Voice Leading Arpeggios for both Melody and Accompaniment when the time signature is 3/4 or 6/8.
• Fixed issue where Rolled Chords could still be turned On when Multi MIDI Channel for Accompaniments was selected. This isn't allowed.
• Fixed crash that can occur when Multi MIDI Channel for Accompaniments is selected and Melody Grace Notes are On.
An example of using 2 sequences for the Accomp Seq Accomp Style can be found here:

A new version of Piano Motifs (v4.79) is now available. What's new in this version:
• Added a Multi Chord Bars option. With this setting you can determine if the bars of the motif can have multiple chords of the chord progression in the same bar or not. When this setting is set to Def, the app will randomly choose if the motif will have multiple chords of the chord progression in the same bar or not (low percentage). When this setting is set to Off there will only be one chord of the chord progression in a bar. When this setting is set to On there will be more than one chord of the chord progression in a bar.
• Minor bug fixes and improvements
Please note that this option is only supported for the 2/4 and 4/4 Time Signatures. Also note that this option will be disabled when you have a Programmed Chord Progression. Use the Multi Chord Bar option in the Program Chord Progression Screen instead.
The following video shows this new feature in action:
Enjoy!
A new version of Piano Motifs (v4.80) is now available. What's new in this version:
• Added a new Accomp Extra Bass Every N Bars setting. This setting allows you to add an extra bass note to the accompaniment every 1, 2, 4 or 8 bars. The note is the root note of the chord being played on the bar and has a whole bar duration. When a value for this setting is chosen the octave for the bass note can be picked.
• Minor fixes and improvements
Give the new feature a try. It will enrich the sound of some motifs. It can also be useful when you're using the MIDI Multi Channel feature (AUv3 only) where this extra bass note can be routed to a different instrument.
Enjoy!
@White
Bruh, thanks a ton for this link, I’m gonna run all my mid exports for sharks and tickles.
Great link
A video where this new feature is used with an Extra Bass Every 2 Bars on Octave 1 with an Arpeggio Accompaniment:
I enjoyed piano motif a lot, throwing the exports into SAND or Gadget. good times. I always revisit the app when an update occurs.
Glad to hear you're enjoying the app and the new features!
There was an issue in the previous release of Piano Motifs so there's a new version (v4.81) available. What's new in this update:
Maintenance Update:
• Fixed issue where if the new feature "Accomp Extra Bass Every N" was Off, and an AUv3 session was saved in the Host, the session wouldn't be retrieved correctly. (AUv3 only)
• Fixed issue where the Settings red dot indicator was not set when "Accomp Extra Bass Every N" didn't have a default value.
• Added an "AUM Keep Node Color/Name" setting. When this mode is On the AUM node and color name setting isn't overriden by Piano Motifs.
Hey @azul3D_Apps I’m having some issues since the latest update. I can’t get a previously saved session to play and when I try to re add PM it now says GNRT but doesn’t play. Maybe I should do a video. Not sure if any one else has had any issues?
Oh I think I know what it is. I changed the track tempo too low
A new version of Piano Motifs (v4.82) is now available. What's new in this version:
• Two new options for Melody Harmony: Tonic and Octave. When you select the Tonic option the tonic note of the scale will be used as a harmony note. When you select the Octave option the melody note one octave above will be used as a harmony note.
• Improved the Chord Syncopate and Bass Syncopate Accompaniment Styles by adding two bar syncopated accompaniments.
• Fixed issue where octave shifts were not being reflected in an audio file when the Audio export option was used.
• Fixed issue where for certain chord and bass accompaniments no chord inversion was performed when there was a programmed chord with inversions.
If you like the music generated by Piano Motifs and its new features, please consider leaving a review in the App Store, it helps.
Enjoy!
