DrumPerfect Pro new free update, new drum packs
Hi all,
After many months of quiet gestation the new update for DPP is now available on the Apple store.
As we all have been going through challenging times since the last months, Marinus and I wish you to be in good health, and keeping high creative spirits.
On a happy note let's first announce that for 3 days DPP will be offered at 50% the normal price.
This include as well the free Auv3 DPPlayer which has become now amazingly user friendly.
So this can be a great occasion to get it and enjoy the latest refinements as well as many new, exciting features.
So what's new?
- Songs in app are automatically synced with AU Player.
- AU Player has 1 main and 16 instrument outputs.
AU Player UI with Master volume meter and Loop Overwrite control.
Two unique sound packs added as IAP: one Jazz-pack and one " Mega " Pop pack.
( Another Pop pack is expected to be added soon )New redesigned Export view with pattern/kit auditioning.
- Looped rendering of songs added.
Tail rendering of patterns added.
Localization support added for Dutch/French/German.
Editing of beat subdivision in Grid view by tapping the beat label.
Pattern saving from Grid view added.
Recording of tempo and JAM! automation is synced among members of a random song part.
Fixed audio/midi export for JAM! remapped instruments.
- Tail of Linked Sets (Fills) plays even after pattern has changed.
Added master volume knob in Pattern view.
Four options for reverb quality to control cpu-load: Long/Short-Stereo/Mono.
Improved IAA support.
Latest Audiobus SDK.
Many other fixes and performance improvements.
Comments
This is great news. Any chance of a sale on the IAPs?? 😉
The new Export view has become a real " Loop factory " where you can audition any pattern and save immediately as audio, midi, or stems.
What is particularly exciting is that you can listen each pattern played with a different kit, and choose which one to export. And export now is much faster than before.
And by the way you don't even have to enter the name of the pattern or the song, it is automatically done.
Bought it, looking forward to try it out later 😊
great!
2 new IAP packs with 2 new concepts:
A great sounding Jazz drum pack with highly detailed drum solo on a 5/4 groove.
And for the first time in DPP, drums play in a Jazz trio setting with piano and acoustic bass.
Sounds amazing!
A big sized Pop pack with 3 impressive drum kits and more than 300 patterns.
More sound clips will be posted....
BRILLIANT!
@Gilbert I am very happy to be digging Drumperfect out of the cupboard
Can you share with us what you think is the best video(s) for folks (me!) who need a refresher how to best use/get started with this excellent yet complex app?
Packs increase in quality while remaining at the same affordable price 😉
So we just keep the sale for DPP.
Thanks Johnny
Yes, I'll post few links here, but so far there has not been enough videos to showcase the potential of this app.
Complex indeed, not really by lack of clarity ( I think... after years of use and development ) but due to the large amount of features, all available to the user. Learning curve is expected.
Now, that said new tutorial videos are on the way, and the mystery will fall... ;-) ( Part of it at least )
Your detailed questions and requests will definitely speed up the process to produce the videos.
So you are welcome. What are the topics you would like to be covered in the videos?
Building a custom pattern with fill with RD1 rock drums pack. DrumPerfect Pro tutorials
DPP tutorials series HD: DrumPerfect Player AUv3 in Cubasis, multiple instances.
Thanks for all of that Gilbert. No doubt plenty to get to grips with. I think the perfect tutorial for most of us who are only averagely smart is based on clarity and logic of explanation, but in a freidndly straightfoward manor which is why people like Sir Doug @thesoundtestroom have been so popular I think. Most of us are happy to watch and always learn something new
I should also say however, that a number of videos split up to deal with a logically developing sequence of topics is also always good as it allows the viewer to hone in on the subjects he's most interested in. However, the most important (and this is for the developer!) is an excellent up-to-date intro that a new user can watch and at the end of it being making cakes not still staring at piles of flour and broken eggs
If you get me started (and eating the cake!) I will always then carry on and be self-motivated by my own success etc....like in life generally
EDIT: And here is a demo/tut that Sir Doug did in 2017. I hope it applies mostly to the current version; off to have a look!
Thanks for the great videos! I really love this app!
@Gilbert Sounds very nice. Any progress on an Orchestral Percussion Pack or are you going to make me roll my own?
Is this by any chance something like the drummers we have in Garageband? I would love to have something like this in AUM as AUplugin. It seems to me that this is much much programming of sounds and stuff though
DPP Packs take a while to reach maturity. They are not just a kit of samples.
Each is a different project.
An orchestral pack however is an excellent suggestion.
What kind of sound and music performances would you expect from an Orchestral Percussion Pack?
I see where the update says "Improved IAA support."
Is this just inter-app audio or is it AU?
A video about the new AUv3 Player is planned. There is no more hassle of creating presets like in the first version. Now just like the main app, you choose your song from DPP song library that automatically appears as a preset list in AUM or any host. So you can have few instances playing different things.
@Gilbert
I suggested it a while back to the same positive reception.
I’d just like multi velocity, round robin versions of standard orchestral percussion instruments. I realise that tuned instruments might be a challenge, so I’m not expecting tubular bells or glockenspiels, but 12 different pitches of timpani as seperate instruments would be cool, we could just load the instruments for the pitches we want to use.
Thank you!
@Gilbert Hold your horses. I can’t find the load/save instrument feature... I could have sworn there was one. It appears to be just kits for now. It’d be nice to be able to mix and match instruments from different kits...
It is both!
Load as inter-app audio
Load as AUv3 player . Can co-exist with main app ( in different tracks ) in AUM. Changes to a song in main app are automatically updated in the player!
DPPlayer AUv3 Multi Out.
Fun!
Awesome! Thanks so much!
I see.
The way I do it:
A kit is just a container. It doesn't matter if it contains 1 or 16 instruments. So If you want to save, let's say a snare you like from a kit, just copy/paste it to an empty kit, call it "Snare x" and save. to replace the snare in another kit, just load "Snare x" , and copy/paste in the kit.
Anyway it will be on list for future updates...
Thanks for these suggestions Johnny, will make the videos in this spirit. And step by step...
Sir Doug demo, third video in my list ;-)
Thanks for the update 👍🏻
Are the samples in the new iAP packs "dry" drums sounds or are they "pre-processed" like we can hear in your clips above ?
Bought but I have to learn a lot. Can’t understand much using it on my own. Must watch some tutorials.
Even the AUv3 file player. I can’t even understand how to load loop in it😂😂😂
I feel not clever at all😜
Thanks.
In the clips, samples have been processed with a "Room" (conv. reverb.)
😎 This has been the best comeback to us cheap and greedy buggers I have seen. Bought the 5/4 pack.
Ok, nice. For tuned timpani then, I could have a Kit containing 12 different timpani instruments, all at a different pitch, so I could load it then copy/paste just the pitches I want into spare instrument slots in my Orchestral Percussion Kit. Sounds doable.
Easiest first steps are probably, loading a song in Song view and just playing it.
Patterns are chained in a song.
Then have a look to the patterns in Pattern view or/and Grid view for more details about their composition.
Play the sounds of the instruments in Pad view. Audition each pattern in Song view or Export view.
Then, once a bit familiarized with the different views, you could check the Quick Start to go a bit deeper. That will prepare for more details in the manual, later.
Tap on DPP yellow icon in the Menu.
Load the AUv3 Player in a channel in AUM.
Open the presets. Choose a song. It will load. Adjust the host BPM. Start Play in the host ( AUM ).
Like getting a new car, it may take some time before feeling fully in control...
Hope this help a bit.
Yes, definitely doable. And if you don't have timpani samples in every pitch, check the tuning feature here. The same sample can be loaded then tuned accordingly.
