Don’t miss the reggae iap and the Afrobeats iap. Both are excellent.
@Gilbert Cool. Thanks!
@Gilbert , I have loaded a midi file that doesn’t match the drum assignments in the reggae iap kit. How best to learn to remedy this? I love how DPP sounds, but am usually baffled at how to get anything done in it.
Ah ok I See. The Au plug is a simple preset player. Fine by me. But does the standalone has some generative elements like a jamming drumming buddy which i don’t have. I like the GarageBand drummers but I hate garage band
Would snatch me a copy of your app if it fits my needs. Thanks man!
I usually modify the note assignments for each instrument in the kit, then save the kit with a _remapped or something like that after the name.
That's a typical problem with a midi files in any drum app.
Would this be suitable as a sound source for a bop pad?
Hi, please PM me, I can send you a Reggae IAP kit file ( .dpk ) mapped correctly to match your midi file.
I have never tried the Bop pad, but if it can send midi notes DPP can receive them. So I guess the answer is yes. Will confirm later.
To @Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr Even better, please wait till tomorrow, a corrected GM mapped RR1 pack will be available on App store. You can then restore your pack. By next week all other packs should be updated with GM mapping too.
You are a very expensive person to make the acquaintance of on these here anonymous interwebs forums.
Have to say, having listened to the in-app demo for the 5/4 swing patch, I think Lumbeats Jazz Drummer sounds quite a bit more realistic.
While i enjoy JazzDrummer and use it for practicing with, I do think DPP is capable of more realism and expressiveness if you dive in a bit.
The beginning of this video impresses me:
And there are some impressive examples on their SoundCloud page:

Check out the Take 5 example, Tribute to Elvin, Recalling Tony Williams
Once more I will ask, because I would love to take advantage of that cool sale.
It is super complex as far as I see, but can it be super light and simple too? I mean, pressing a button and its generating some cool grooves (maybe a bit like the Lumbeat versions)? I am searching for a tool like the apple Garageband drummers to be a friend that will jam with me.
Thanks for you insights!
I’m interested in finding-out if it has a “pads mode” where you can create unique drum intros for songs, or customized fills using any of the kits.
Question answered:

Thanks SO MUCH, Snystrom!!!
You are totally awesome!
Would you consider running for President of the United States?!?!?!? 😍
just got DPP yesterday and really love it so far - great sounding drums.
is it easy to control with an electronic drum set? is MIDI pretty much setup for either GM or roland (or yamaha) or is there alot of config you have to do?
@espiegel123 yes, the demo in this video is much better than the in-app demo, thanks
It’s a midi file player. If you have good midi drum files — or buy some of the iaps — they’re easy enough to load and hit play.
Yes, DPP can easily be control with any drum/midi controller. Almost all commands can be triggered by cc.
All kit instruments can be triggered by midi, you can set a kit to any mapping ( Midi learn or manual ) and save it as a new version.
3 IAP packs kits are now mapped to GM. All kits will be by next week.
You can also record your midi performance directly in DPP.
Here's few views:

As @Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr mentionned it easy enough to load a preset ( song ) in the AUv3 player
press loop, play and start jamming.
Yes, it can be very easy to play with, but very deep for complex creations.
The 3 main differences with GB and Lumbeat apps are:
With DPP,
you have a totally open system for using your own samples/loops ( not limited to drums only ), process them, and deep, flexible editing of practically anything ( patterns, songs, kits, midi map etc... )
you have twice the number of instruments playing together ( and multiply this by the number of AUv3 instances if you want more! ) ALL instruments then can be routed to separate channels in AUM ( with any FX plugins in the chain ) !
Perfect Mix!
How suited is this for techno?
Is the difference between the main app and the AUv3 player explained in detail anywhere?
It’s more of a “natural” drum kit app with a emphasis on realistic drumming with realistic drums and round robbin velocity sensitive articulation.
So, maybe not very. YMMV
Here:
The AUv3 Player is DPP without any editing/controls features. It just play songs made in DPP, but in many instances, following the BPM of the host. Hence its very minimalist look.
It is suited for any drumming style and can be very powerful for Techno.
There is not yet a dedicated pack for this genre, but you will find 2 factory kits ( EK TR-808 and EK Linn-9000 ) and the free GM pack that will work well for Techno.
There's some shorthand comparisons made about certain apps that I've thought since I began using iOS Music Production apps exclusively in 2015. For example, Auria Pro is like the Pro Tools of iOS. There are several others but for DrumPerfect Pro I really see it as a Superior Drummer or EZ Drummer for iOS rather than an MPC based groovebox.
And like Auria Pro it's complexity often scares people away. But if you give it some time DrumPerfect Pro is really one of the most powerful apps on iOS.
I try to be genre-less and avoid labels but it's inevitable that we all do it. For me, I record more songy-songs in my home studio, either originals or recording demos for friends, etc. Mostly songs with guitar, bass, drums and vocals, verses, choruses, middle rights, bridges, etc. I do love drum machines and electronic music, MIDI, all the rest of it...but for SONGS DrumPerfect Pro is just untouchable.
I like having tons of control so then a "human" feeling drum track is more possible. You can access & change tons of parameters in DDP and the fact that you can use multiple samples with different velocities per instrument is so cool.
But there are pads and 100's of presets too. So you can use it very quickly as a groovebox. I like the way it handles samples, getting stuff in & out is no problem. At this price I think everyone should at least have it in their toolkit.
@Philandering_Bastard + @Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr Thanks to the 2 of you I am now the proud owner of the app + the Reggae + Afrobeats IAPs.. 👍 😁 ❤️ those grooves!
Had iBassist grooving with the Reggae beats.. 🤪 Crazy Good! Slapped on some FAC Transient + ReelBus in AUM on DPP.. Scary stuff..
Also tried the Player version in AUM.. had 14 separate tracks bussed through FAC Transient and only hit 35% on the cpu.. definitely creative potential here.. extra fx, group tracks, add Kai’s MM-1.. hmmm.. could get dangerous..
That’s good to know re CPU hit.
How many patterns/songs/kits are included in the base app? I don't think that's mentioned in the app store, on the web page or in the manual. Is it like a huge variety, or just a handful? Anything similar to Soft Drummer/Jazz Drummer without additional IAP purchase?
One thing I like about DPP is that it does not drench the kits in reverb and processing so you can apply your own salt and pepper.
