Thank you for the last last round of feature requests, suggestions and feedback.

We are a small team and our focus changes every week. We are working on something new but we can't realy share anyhting right now. Too early!

Besides that we are working on updates to other apps. Next one will be FRMS and VS. In the mean time, LK 1.12.4 has been released to the App Store:

    • Auto zoom fit notes when a new clip finishes recording
    • Added record fixed length setting (defined by default to OFF under MATRIX - MIDI settings)
    • Added record count down setting (defined by default to 0 under MATRIX - MIDI settings)
    • Default clip length is now a setting (defined by default to 1 under MATRIX - MIDI settings)
    • Tempo can now also be set via input dialog
    • Piano-roll vertical viewport navigator was reintroduced
    • Controller module's knobs were repositioned below buttons
    • Fix composer keyboard notes preview
    • Fix MATRIX's Live mode crossfader
    • General bug fixes and improvements

    Thank you!

AUM & LK is becoming my mobile Ableton.
With my iConnectivity Audio4+ and the ability to export to Live Sets it is extremely powerful!

Hahaha shitty review but hey some people's synapses just aren't firing... I'll stick a glowing review up to counter it as I haven't had the chance yet..

Yeah, me too. This app is such a rich set of tools. For a MIDI novice like me it’s been especially useful.

As for that review, I always wonder what the reviewer would say to your face…

  • @sinosoidal any news on Ubridge universal? 🥺

  • @sinosoidal Just been using LK on my new iPad Pro M1 had 2 clips running inside AUM drums and bass into MV8 and Zeeon. Was playing around with the bass pattern didn’t like what I had after duplicated twice so hit undo and I lost the lot both clips and midi connections between the apps! I was assuming undo would get rid of my last action not take down my whole project do we still have issues with LK ?

  • Please add Ableton's "clip legato" mode where you can change clips without resetting playhead or waiting on last clip to finish

Sure. There are many different ways to set it up. One way is to put clips into a group. Set it to one clip at a time. If the clips are phase-locked, tapping one clip will turn on its audio and turn off the playing clip without resetting either’s play head. If you set fade in/out they can crossfade at the transition point.

There are other ways to set it up, too. Another way would be to set up a gesture to solo clips within a color. So, you can do this with clips of the same color without setting up groups.

And you can do it with groups of clips by having phase lock on and having each group set to play all clips AND be mutually exclusive.

  • Hi,

I have a weird issue with LK and Ableton Live.
    Maybe someone could confirm this…

When I am editing a Midi Clip in LK, the notes appear in the according clip in LIVE. So far so good. But here comes the tricky part:

When recording or editing a clip by adding notes or moving them, there is are no updates in LK. The clip stays the same. And then, when I add one note in this clip in LK, all the other notes, I added in LIVE disappear.

The same happens, when I record a clip via an external Midi Keyboard into LIVE.
The clip in Lk is empty. And by adding a note into this recorded clip (which is empty in LK, but full of notes in LIVE) all the recorded clips disappear and leaving o my one added note in the clip, which is then visible both in Lk and in LIVE.

    Thanks

Anybody knows how to properly scroll up and down in LKs matrix module (run as plugin inside AUM) ? When I try to scroll through my list of scenes with two fingers on a free area (no clips or tracks), the scrolling direction follows some voodoo logic I do not understand. Sometimes it scrolls up with the finger move, sometimes in the opposite direction.
I am aware of the grey "scroll helper" square that pops up when one does try to scroll. This works, but this "helper" usually appears right in front of the clips I want to work with and it is annoying to have to wait until it disappears.
Maybe I am using the wrong gesture ?
Otherwise my ideal scrolling scenario would be "normal" scrolling without any popup helpers when an area without clips is being used.

I could tolerate more of that funkiness if LK supported mouse control (let alone keyboard), eg two finger scroll on trackpad

You just need one finger to scroll. And you should not leave the finger press indefintely if you do not want to open the context menu. Have you tried that?

Is it possible in LK to trigger a follow action after a clip has looped a given number of times ?
The only workaround I see at the moment is to have an action track with empty clips of the same length and that contain only clip actions that trigger / play the clip several times and trigger another action then.

@sinosoidal heya fella, I've been having some very wierd behaviour this evening with lk hosted in AUM and sequencing Synthmaster one and two, what's happening is some very strange stuck note behaviour, I'm using a launchpad pro mk3 as well, all midi routing is correct so I ruled that out, what I did then was disable the channel pressure messages from being sent and this stopped the stuck notes, im thinking it's an lk thing because when I tried a straight connection to both Synthmasters in AUM from just the launchpad I didn't experience any stuck notes..

Any of you other lk user care to try and replicate this behaviour please?

    This would be really cool.

@sinosoidal It would also be awesome if it was possible to create group tracks. This is helpful for organizing more tracks into 8x8 layout.

The latest beta (build 290) has the feature you're asking regarding the amount of loops before applying the follow action. We've added that functionality to the clip's transform actions too.

We've also added a new functionality requested by some that is similar to ableton live's clip legato mode. Now, when a clip is triggered, you can choose if you want to play it from the beginning or from the last clip's position. This is located under the clip's properties and is called "Play Mode".

Awesome additions, thanks! LK is better at clips than Ableton. 😄

One other feature request that actually comes from using Bitwig. It has midi channel per note in clips, this would be epic if possible.

Are the midi channels per note or per clip time region?

  • Actually you can define the midi channel per time region and per note. Didn't know that! Thanks for the info. We'll see if there is anything that can be done regarding this in the future =)

Awesome new feature that loop count follow action, would be possible adding a “chance” for follow actions ?? That’s the most wanted and unique Live feature that I can’t replace in LK 🙏🏻

You can check it here: https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/launching-clips/#14-7-follow-actions
