@Vlad11 Could you not use AUM’s built in metronome?
We have a timing issue indeed. We have already identifier the problem and should be fixed on the next version.
Try to use AUM metronome but ensure that LK is triggered to start at the same time using the stop, begging, transport functions of AUM,
Hi, I bought the matrix and when setting my scale I don't seem to have the options for a basic major or minor scale, only locrain, Dorian etc
In the manual and on videos I see others have a major and minor scale option
Anyone know how to add it?
Thanks
I believe the Ionian scale is the same as major and Aeolian as natural minor
At the bottom of the list there is the Custom option so you can set whatever you want
Thanks, i was going to use the custom but then in the manual and other videos i saw major and minor on the list so thought it was an option maybe I hadn’t ticked. Same with my DRC.
Any other users not have minor and major in their scale lists?
Clicked those two options, Ionian and aeolian, and seems they are the same as major and minor so will use those
Thanks
@muzka You're welcome
@sinosoidal Now that I took the advantage of the November Sale and bough the rest of the LK IAPS I noticed that the X/Y Pad icon is similar to the MIDI Pads icon and I often confuse them. I have a suggestion for a new icon that looks closer to the X/Y Pad.
Also, would you consider adding some kind of permanent visual information about the current position on the X/Y Pad? I find it hard to see the current semi transparent indicator.
Here are my suggestions:
This is in case the lines go over the values at the bottom:
I hope this makes sense to someone else but me
Needing help because I can’t figure out how to record clip without predefined length as per v1.8.4 release notes.
Make all the usual steps, have your host and LK running, arm track, main record button on rec (red), then click on an empty slot in the clip layout, it should start recording with a red dot inside it. So main difference is you have to create the clip when armed and recording . You can’t do it on an already existing clip with defined length.
Like in the screenshot, when I would click the empty clip it would start endlessly recording.
@sinosoidal any ETA for the recording bug fix? or a workaround?
Thank you very much @Frank303
That’s what I was doing. But unfortunately pressing the record button doesn’t do anything.
Viva Nuno @sinosoidal. I’m on beta 14.3 and the behavior is the same in stand-alone, in Audiobus or AUM (also IPad and IPhone). Working perfectly for predefined loop lengths.
Sorry, what recording bug? Please remember me. To much action going on.
@Frank303 gave you the right indications. Please make a video and share with us here so can understand what you are doing wrong.
The xy icon needs to be revised. The first version of LK in 2015 had a grid on it!
Someone has asked for a better visual indicator of the position with a cross. It is a good suggestion. But not full with and height. Only a finger width cross should be enough.
Ah, I see, I never saw that version of LK
The only problem I have with the current indicator is that it becomes barely visible after you lift your finger. I supposed that the reason behind this was the case when the indicator is at the bottom of the screen, covering the numerical values. I'm good with any solution as long as, when I need to, I can easily see where the indicator is and continue from there without getting sudden jumps.
Anyway, it's not a huge deal, but when the time permits an improvement would be welcome.
Thank you for the quick reply @sinosoidal
I finally got it running and I know why.
Since I learned the double tap on shift from you I use it all the time. My work station is my sofa 😜.
Recording doesn’t work with shift engaged. That was what I was doing wrong.
Because shift + press a clip is to select a clip without triggering it!
I'm glad you found the solution.
The freeze upon recording from external gear (maybe even internal?). I sent you a video a few days ago.
Oh right! We might have a solution for the next beta build. Are you in TestFlight?
No 😢
Any news on Sync recording, or did I miss it?
Edit.. sorry, sync to host transport recording?
This is cool. Just had a quick play with the free version. After figuring out the layout - it is pretty slick. All the waiting for Atom 2 to drop and this came along quietly which looks like it does the job I was waiting for. I think I’ll probably spring for the Matrix & a couple IAPs.
Sorry if this has been already answered, I tried to get thru all the comments but got overwhelmed. So I bought all the iap’s today, I pretty much understand the workflow, it’s pretty much an Ableton sequencer for IOS, very cool. I’m trying to use an external midi controller ( Akai MPK mini mk2 ) to record the notes into the Matrix inside AUM , I bought the keyboard iap but I want to use a hardware controller. The stand alone version sees the MPK but the AUV3 doesn’t , at least not in LKs midi setting. I even have the MPK selected in AUM but I can’t get it to trigger notes to AUs loaded in AUM via LK.
Also I see in the app update description that it has APF 25 support, is anyone one with it? I have an APC 40 mk2 I’m wondering if it will work to launch clips in LK, I’ll try it after I get the midi controller sorted out. Thanks in advance
You need to select your MPK mini as a MIDI source for LK in AUM. Then, in LK you need to select LK input on the track you want to control and also send MIDI out to the synth you want to play using LK output.
APC25 works great with LK. You can use the pads to launch clips and you have a feedback from LK on which clips are/aren’t empty and which are playing. And all modes work, like arm, mute, solo... All buttons are correctly mapped. You also don’t need to set anything it’s basically plug and play.
Does anyone know how to select the tone/change the tone in the Chorder module? Seems it’s always on C for me. Not quite figuring out how to set some chords up in a certain key. Like say I wanted to make a set in B minor How would I do that?
Is it right that the chord pad page cant assign chords per pad?
Ok - I'm astoundingly late to LK, having previously understood it to be an iOS control surface for Ableton (which is something I felt I had covered already).
I may have got the completely wrong end of the stick here, but...
My current method of working within iOS is essentially centred around playing AUM like a mixing desk. This often involves MIDI and audio, combining the two using simple AUM file players to loop audio sequences I've rendered from elsewhere (e.g. Koala). I then have the controls of the channels mapped to an external controller (Launchpad XL) which allows me to make changes to specific elements on each channel and essential capture a performance in a style which is very much inspired by the likes of King Tubby.
What I'd like to do is be able to cycle between different elements so that I could add variety (say, for example, a multitude of drum patterns, a variety of basslines etc) rather than being restricted to them essentially being on or off.
Also, I'm thinking that I could maybe use something I already have to replace the file players (EG Pulse, for example, if that would allow me to load loops and latch them indefinitely until they are replaced by something else within the same choke group). In this setup the loops would then be controllable via MIDI, opening up the potential of utilising a MIDI control/sequencing functions.
Could LK help me achieve this?
If so, I'm sold instantly!
That’s how I have it set up, still doesn’t work, thanks anyway though
Oh, you also need to record arm the track in LK. Did you try that?
Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but clicking the = sign below the chord window, you find the settings. There you can add layouts and presets.
