Unpopular opinions: most musicians who hate good hit songs do so because they can't write songs that good. ;)

    +1

  • @Gavinski although i do partially agree with you. i have to disagree as well, it may not have hit mainstream, but ive been going to raves for 20+ years now in the states. Gabber, trance, house, DnB. My first rave was a Gabber rave circa 98/99 in LA with about 3k in attendance. There used to be massive raves with 10-20000 people back in the late 90's / e.arly 2000's I feel like the entire world embraced dance music more when EDM explosion happened, but its always been there in the underground.

  • @Gavinski just because i try to share him whenever i have a chance... this was my first rave LOL

he sadly passed away, but had a pretty substantial cult following in the states

  • Milli Vanilli were as fake as most popular artists.

  • Oh yeah, Nirvana, apart from a couple of tracks are definitely so damn overrated. When I hear Kurt Cobain being referred to as a genius I really want to scream.

  • Probably not that unpopular but Jim Morrison was talentless. Although the rest of the band is pretty awesome

    :D

  • I love Jim Morrison's voice, some good lyrics too, not to mention great taste in leather trousers 😂! He was definitely a bit of an asshole though, that's for sure. @Fingolfinzzz

  • I'm a huge Phil Collins fan and have been mocked for it my whole life. Makes me love his music even more. I'd rather have my own tastes and preferences than follow a trend.

    Peter Gabriel too

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers would be better as an instrumental trio without Anthony Kiedis.

I don’t even know if that’s an unpopular opinion or not 🤗

I don’t think it is unpopular at all. The one time I saw them, Anthony had a sore throat and didn’t do a ton of singing. I think maybe 15% of the set was him singing and the rest of it was Flea, John, and Chad jamming through fuck out on some funk and it was incredible

Being sarcastic by nature, I'd bet those who mocked you couldn't write songs like them. :) Incidentally I think Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel are great. 👍

  • I get better results and quicker with graphic EQs.

  • @Fingolfinzzz you’re my hero 😎

  • Jim Morrison had one of the best singing voices in rock music ever. So did Kurt Cobain. 😛

Sgt Pepper's is overrated, but A Day In The Life is a truly great song.

  • "Painted from memory" is probably one of the greatest album ever but Elvis Costello is clearly not in tune

  • Learning to play an instrument takes the fun out of making music.

  • I prefer the prodigy’s later material.

Fat of the land and after.

I can't stand Nirvana or Pearl Jam...

At least they are vastly superior to "Der Beatles!" 🤗

    Heck, no!

  • The former Paul McCartney was better than the replaced one.

Music for the jilted generation was his best album and his future albums will probably be better.

  • Unpopular opinion: Drambo is the ideal sequencer for sEGments.

  • I don’t think liking Peter Gabriel is controversial. Liking Phil Collins, on the other hand, most definitely is.

Disclaimer: huge Gabriel-era Genesis fan here.

    :)

Popularity screws with our taste receptors. How do you approach something that's already everywhere? This goes for the Beatles, Bob Marley, Nirvana etc. The popular classics. If pigeons were rare birds, we might appreciate them as beautiful grey doves with shiny green feathers on their necks.

Hopefully some of the Sgt. Pepper-haters will give 'Blackbird' and 'Tomorrow Never Knows' a chance. [I just mean don't be put off the Beatles - they have range and I prefer Revolver and The White Album myself.]

Frankly, I think Mozart's overrated. It's dainty. Never stirred me up, the old Wolfgang Amadeus.

  • opinions are unpopular, i prefer lies

I used to think that JM was just an untalented bafoon with a great voice but then I’ve learned to understand that some musicians get into the emotional part directly without the need to be technically skilled. I’m sure part of his act was womanising posage but isn’t that part of a drive of any young and good looking guy?

In the discussion of technical skill vs ability to channel emotions I would sure choose the later but of course both together is where it’s at....maybe

    Agreed.

I would argue that to be more fact than opinion.

A bit polarising but I wouldn't say unpopular.
Many people (me included) were introduced to them through FOTL, and I think that album was more polished in comparison to their prior work.
