High five! Having my morning Cup right now with a classic fold over pbutter sandy. I just take a little bite and wash it down with the joe. Will try your blend method tomorrow. :)

Ok, don’t put the bread in there 😳

    Ahhh, makes sense...

  • I don't like playing mono synths.

  • These ideas are unpopular:

And then, as time went on, the poets themselves introduced the reign of vulgar and lawless innovation. They were men of genius, but they had no perception of what is just and lawful in music; raging like Bacchanals and possessed with inordinate delights—mingling lamentations with hymns, and paeans with dithyrambs; imitating the sounds of the flute on the lyre, and making one general confusion; ignorantly affirming that music has no truth and, whether good or bad, can only be judged of rightly by the pleasure of the hearer. And by composing such licentious works, and adding to them words as licentious, they have inspired the multitude with lawlessness and boldness, and made them fancy that they can judge for themselves about melody and song. And in this way the theaters from being mute have become vocal, as though they had understanding of good and bad in music and poetry.

Unpopular opinions: most musicians who hate good hit songs do so because they can't write songs that good. ;)

There is a big difference between songs being popular and songs that are good. The two are not mutually exclusive, but particularly these days it seems most hit songs are not good musically.

“Good” based on what? As I said earlier, there is no “good” or “bad” art. I don’t like artists that have sold millions of records. Do I have to say they are “good”? I think not. I also don’t have to like them. ✌🏼

I think I succeeded in posting an unpopular opinion! 😉😁

Every pop song featuring a soprano sax solo sucks. Every single one.

    Have you heard this?

  • Top 40 radio needs more guitar solos!

    Eb major is totally overrated
And quarter notes too. They absolutely suck

  • Most of what people now call “Country Music” isn’t real music at all. It’s more unnatural and computer generated than most purely electronic music only it’s disguised as having people sing and play natural instruments.

  • Chords are what stupid people have to use because they can’t comprehend additive synthesis.

Good song until the horn section comes in. 😜

Give me Glen Campbell any day. A legendary singer whose guitar playing surpasses his singing IMHO.

    This thread is so valuable!
It’s like having people stand up and announce they’re assholes!

(Except for you cool people—you know who you are. And I would have included @JeffChasteen — YES the Band are terrible — except for that Joe Strummer comment! Oh, Jeff.)

    And for the irony-impaired: I’m kidding! ;)

We’ll make an exception for songs featuring such profound poetry.

    Hell yeah!

If I agree with you, does that make your idea popular?

Unpopular opinions: most musicians who hate good hit songs do so because they can't write songs that good. ;)

    Unpopular opinion 1:
using capitalist valuations as to what is "good" (a system based on throwing whatever garbage at the wall and going with the lowest common denominator that leads to the most money for the people at the top who run the industry) leads to a hollow sense of "goodness".

    Unpopular opinion 2:
there is no such thing as good and bad, only better and worse. Even those qualifiers are entirely subjective.

    Unpopular opinion 3:
The rolling stones are 250% worse than all brilliant music they ripped off.

    unpopular opinion 4:
Equal Temperament is a tepid tuning system, and there's a reason that it wasn't commonly used until the mass production of instruments in the 20th century (ie, the vast majority of the human experience). The notion that it was only recently discovered couldn't be further from the truth, it was theorized thousands of years ago, but people didn't use it because A) it's damn near impossible to tune by ear, B) it makes no sense for modal musics, and C) even for music that modulates, there are unequal temperaments that are much more interesting and have tonal variation that are completely lost in the grey that is 12ET. It is a tuning system born from the christian idea of "conquering nature".

I think unpopular opinion 3 needs more clarification:
    Would that be:
    A) early enthusiastic, but not very inspired combo Rolling Stones?
    B) untouchable and in their prime 68-73 Rolling Stones?
    C) World’s biggest oldies act Rolling Stones?

He seems to have been a wonderful person, but every time I hear his voice I really do picture a cartoon bulldog. Wearing a drill instructor’s hat, and with sergeant’s chevrons on his upper arms/legs. And spittle flying everywhere.

  • Velocity sensitivity should be switched off by default.

  • Don’t even bother adding LFO to your app if it won’t have a Random-Ramp wave.

  • Nope. Too "Skinny!" 😉

Bowie had a few decent songs after his golden age. The album Outside had a few, and definitely Blackstar had some great stuff.
