I’ve bought the full pack in the first days it has appeared on the app store, then asked for a refund.
I must admit i didn’t like it at first.
I naively thought the app would disappear from my ipad, once refunded.
That was not the case,so i’ve decided to have another look(ear)at the app,and i must say that i’ve changed my mind about overloud after this new try,so i’ve kept it...i know,i know....
I never do this (only 2or3 refunds since 8 years).
Please no polemics about it,it has already been done😉.
My advice would be to buy george lynch’s randall amps.you ‘ve got everything you need in it(vox, marshall, bogner,hi gain stuff, fender etc...).very versatile amps.
I hope it helps a little bit.

I’m definitely in a few minds now, especially as the nembrini sale closes tomorrow, I so just like the simple plug and play of those but the sheer variety of this is insane...
@steve99 thanks for the info, I figured as much about the Express from what I’ve been reading. The Shortboard however is pricey used and getting harder to find, probably worth it anyway, seems like you can PC/CC, momentary mode, activate sims, and control a daw all at the same time. Midi Mongoose seems appealing on a sale but it only does PC (an added pedal might do some CC), which seems limiting. Actition definitely does PC/CC (peculiar 10 second hold to switch to momentary mode, wonder how that works on the fly) and it’s affordable, though looks like shipping to USA would take a while. There’s a used one on eBay but it’s the midi pin not the usb version. Wonder if that works with my Mio midi-usb cable (reliable cable for sure), or better to get usb Actition. Anyway thanks again for all the details, really helpful.

The 10 sec hold I now find pretty useful. In periods I haven’t used it for a while I’d forget how to do it, but now I have it working to my advantage. I have one setup with all four buttons as momentary for a looper and another controller for my amp sim. Or, another setup with 2 buttons toggle on the Actition for guitar and 2 momentary for looper. The lights on the Actition only work in the toggle mode, a ten second press for each one I want as toggle and then I can see what’s going on. Does that make sense?
In summary, momentary is good for most things, you can usually set whether to toggle or not within an app, Actition’s method of switching is a bonus for me rather than a hindrance.
Yeah for sure, this is meant to highlight Overloud, and with such good midi integration the Overloud Full Pack might actually be a good deal.
I realize that it's a bit unritual, but I want to express my personal congratulations to Overloud for bringing THU to iOS and making it now AUv3 compatible.
Healthy competition can only be good for the (golden) world of music software.
Cheers,
Andrea
I just download this. Not purchased any pedals etc as yet just testing the au free distortion pedal & amp. I can not move any of the dials at all and the UI moves all over the place. Is this intentional?
Classy 👍 @And_Nembrini
I don't think any of us are asking for Nembrini refunds
You need to tap on the amp/cab/peal and that brings up a set of controls.
I just tried the free Fender amp and my god this is really good. So far the best Fender emulation on iOS bar none, and I like it better than the Cali Reverb for clean tones (I know the Cali is not based on a Fender, it's a Mesa Boogie but it was my previous favourite).
The Overloud amp sim is clean, sparkling and deliciously warm all at the same time, and really responsive to the dynamics of your playing. It's really good.
So far I'm happy to just use the free stuff, I'll look at making a purchase once I figure out what's what. But this app is definitely great even without any of the IAPs.
Overloud has a very different User Interface.
The Main window shows images of the Pedals + Amp + FX'es + Mics + Speaker Cabs
To change any adjustment you must click on one of these devices and a control interface will appear on the right edge of the UI with sliders for every available control and interchangeable component like Tube types.
This is what it looks like in the AUv3 AUM FX window:

A gentleman. Grande Andrea.
@richardyot @McD ok cheers gents. What I do like about the pedals it seems Stereo signals stay as Stereo and not mono ized. Only checked the free one though. Hope this is the same for the Compressors & Eq.
Now that there are multiple AUv3 Amp Sim options available we should have a thread that compares the choices for the folks that want to use these products to tone shape their synths and call out the features that synth-based users like in the products they use.
An older thread has been re-started with new details:
https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/22773/any-decent-auv3-amp-sim-around#latest
In the announcement thread for Overloud THU, I voiced my frustrations about no AUv3 at launch, and the company was very receptive and said it was coming soon. Now that the app went AUv3 I got it and overall I am blown away with the amp modeling aspect. The way it handles IR/impulse response and it's ”Rigs" feature I think needs some fine tuning.
I've made the comparison here several times that I remember routinely going to Sam Ash or Guitar Center and buying a $80-$150 pedal like it was nothing. I actually felt it was cheap in fact in comparison to a new amp or guitar. So since 2015, when I first started using iOS, and along with the other letter combos GAS and OCD, I have usually purchased the full versions of the guitar amp sim apps.
So I have all the Nembrini stuff, the full versions of Bias FX2 & Bias Amp, ToneStack, Peavey's old AmpKit app, most of the Amplitube IAP's, GE Labs and the GS VintageClean Amp. So I am not really in need of another. But I can't even turn down most synth sales and keys aren't my main Instrument like guitar is.
From my limited time with it sonically I'm very impressed. I got the Rock & Funk/R&B packs and the American Rigs model pack. Some amp models are better than others at matching their intended target. Fender models have that slight compression & sag at high volumes which I dig. The clean tones in general are some of the most convincing I’ve heard on a digital sim.
My main gripe so far is the company could explain the exact nature of the tech behind the different IAP's so people aren't buying the fully editable amp models when they want the IR based tech Rigs and vice versa.
There is a choice in the menus for what seems to be a Cabinet IR loader but I have no idea how to buy it or if you even can (see photo). I bought the Amp packs first, the Rock & Funk/R&B, and it's not included with those. I figured that the "Rigs" IAP's must have something to do with it since they are technically IR captures of full guitar/amp/cab setups but alas after buying the American rigs pack the IR cabinet remains locked.
Since Overloud is selling their own impulse response packs based off amp, cabinet & guitar IR’s they’re being protective of that revenue stream I guess. To me that’s cheap. Why even show the IR cab in the list of cabinets in the selection menu then? I know there are several IR loaders that can be placed at the end of the chain but I like the idea of a self contained system plus I thought IR imports and an IR loader was a given considering the tech their using and that their major competitors in iOS are offering that function too.
Other than that, the THU app is a serious amp sim, it sounds far better than Native Instruments Guitar Rig which was the last desktop amp sim I had, and some of it’s clean tones give Fractal’s Axe-FX and even the Kemper a run for its money. Bluesy, overdriven tones and especially buzzsaw metal tones are much easier to simulate but a great clean tone is really difficult. Overloud’s clean tones are exceptional, and overall it's a very cool package.
My take is that the app sounds great, but I’m not thrilled about the controls being sliders. I would have rather had the ability to turn the dials like the Mac version. Also what you mentioned about UI moving all over the place is true. Hopefully they’ll fix that. It’s definitely annoying.
Does anyone know if you purchase the TH-U “full” package whether or not it also includes all the “Rigs” as wells as the “Components?”
One would think it would, but...
I believe it only includes the rig player but the rigs are an in-app purchase. I think the Mac full version included some rigs, but not all.
From Overlouds website:
TH-U FOR IOS IS HERE!
239 models and thousands of captured rigs, the world's largest collection!
89 guitar amplifiers and 4 bass amplifiers
50 guitar cabinets and 2 bass cabinets
77 pedal and rack effects
18 microphone models, with up to four mics on each cabinet
More than 1000 presets covering all musical styles
Standalone and AUv3 version
Rig Player allows you to reproduce rig models created by capturing real setups
More than 4000 Rigs, captured from real setups, available as in-app purchases
Amp Tweak technology, allows you to mod the amplifiers by changing the preamp and poweramp tube models, as well as simulating the action of a variac
Same 4th generation DSP engine as in the TH-U Desktop version
Share presets with TH-U Desktop using any Cloud services
Fully controllable with MIDI, for live playing
@Philh0954 I agree 100%. The interface is quite weird. Re arranging effects in the chain with plus(+) signs instead of drag effects to wherever is throwing me off. Also the GEQ LoFreq controls are inverted. When you increase sliders on the right the EQ pedal sliders visually decrease. I think Overloud will tweak this overall UI weirdness. Apart from those quirks the effects I have purchased i.e RSS compressor is excellent
Getting visual issue with GEQ LOfreq stomp UI When going back to signal change the UI does not always retain my settings visually but the audio settings are fine. Quirky
What audio interface are you using?
Any latency seems undetectable.
FYI: The internal tuner doesn't tune you to A=440 in the AUv3 mode. In AUv3 it tunes up to A=479. I'm sure they will fix it in a future update.
The tuner works as expected in standalone. Just an AUv3 bug the slipped through the beta
testing.
Are you at 48kHz? My guess is that it will tune too 440 Hz when the sample rate is 44.1 kHz
Yes. You are correct. The tuner works properly with AUM's sample rate set to 44.1Khz.
I was at 48Khz and I had re-set it to 44.1Khz and the tuner didn't change BUT I did not re-start TH-U. After a re-start with the sample rate set to 44.1KHz the TH-U tuner is back on A=440 pitch.
Do most just keep the sample rate at 44.1Khz as a general practice to avoid these issues?
This is the first time I've experienced a 48KHz problem I think.
Actually, I am no player.. I’m using it to enhance samples\seq..
I had problems at 48k with Overloud AUv3 in AUM, unplayable delay. On iPad Pro 10.5 with sonic port vx. Restarted at 44k and all fine. I‘ve always had to stick at 44k with ToneStack IAA, never worked out if it was iPad, interface or App restricting things. I’m mostly happy at 44k apart from Riffer going out of sync (don’t know if that’s been fixed, guess I’ll find out soon).
No acoustic guitar models?
I absolutely agree.
Simply by selecting the 1st preset "Superclean" and transposing the "magic six" trick to 6.99 😂, the sound is just EXCELLENT with a strat 👍🏻.
hefty download size..ir cabs?
