I tried playing through the whole full pack in one sitting, it can’t be done. Below is a partial list of favorites from my incomplete woodshedding session. Bear in mind that I’m playing a heavy mahogany body ebony board Les Paul with .12 gauge strings, so single coils or modern metal type guitars would have a different interaction. Maybe this will help some people who only want a few items. I have to reiterate that I recommend the full pack. It is all quite good to excellent to fucking insane!

    Top Picks:
Randall T2 Clean, Randall T2 Boost, Randall T2 Overdrive, with matching Randall cabs. If I had to choose an amp trifecta, this would be it. They are beautifully voiced for all genres, and the three give total flexibility. I would add to them the 4x12 Randall LB George Lynch cabinet, this was the best cab I encountered so far. I found the cab better than the George Lynch Box amps. The Lynch Box amps were mostly good, especially their picking response, but there were a few misses for my taste, a couple that sounded fried and croaky with too much noise floor.

Brunetti SingleMan, Brunetti Mercury EL34 CH1 and CH2, all three Brunetti XLs, and the Metropolitan. These amps are fucking gorgeous! Overloud hit it out of the park with these, beautiful moody cleans and soulful leads. Some of the tones remind me of Soldano, but the Brunetti amps are uniquely their own. Just amazing with their matching cabs. The Brunetti cabs are also some of the best I found in the collection.

    Honorable Mentions:
    M. Plexi, Rock ‘64 (UK), Puntera, THD, ModernCH1, Marcus, Jazz 12’o, XT See, Lab5 Clean, and most of the Overlouds. Fat Muff amazing pedal. Also the 1X12 Carolina cab for present and woodsy sound.

    Misses:
BurnSphere, Red Frame, SSS-tone, Top 30, Tumble, LynchBox Clean, Polyphone.

That’s it for now... haven’t even gotten to fx yet. The Overloud full pack is astonishing in its quality and variety. Even the amps I didn’t like sounded like they could be useful to other players.

  • I thinks it’s the no iap I’m thinking about.

It’s seems stark is the only auv3 that covers that.

But Stark is not considered a good-sounding amp sim by most guitarists that have commented on it.

  • Exactly ;-)

  • Is it just me or is the tuner acting differently at 44.1/48/96kHz? I think this has been mentioned before...

Also a couple of the amps have their settings backwards, where turning something on actually turns it off or turning up turns it down...

Another interesting thing to me is how most of the amps being offered at $5 are actually single channels of amps, and you have to buy 3 amp sims to make one composite amp. Definitely no big deal here when you have them all, but there are a few $5 amps offered that have all their channels in one, potentially making them a better value.

I’m still convinced that the 3 Randall amps and the Brunetti amps, and all their matching cabs, are the best amps in the collection. Super excited to comb through the rest that I didn’t get to and and share thoughts, but @flo26 is really making me crave the rigs and also his chops!

Flo's fingers and his chops are otherworldly but unfortunately he always uses his own cabs so we never really know exactly what these apps sound like on there own. That being said even if I bought the same cabs he uses they still wouldn't sound as good. 😢

  • Hilariously, I have become so enamored with the 1X12 Carolina cab that I can't tinker with anything else. How do they manage to make it sound like the amp is in the room with me?

    Yup

Yes. The tuner worked at A=440 at 44.1Khz and A=479 at 48Khz in AUM for me.

Also a couple of the amps have their settings backwards, where turning something on actually turns it off or turning up turns it down...

    Which ones?

Yes. The FULL bundle is the way to go to save money. Buying the lower priced bundles doesn't drop the FULL price so it's wise to save up for the full bundle if every dollar is important.

He's definitely doing OverLoud a favor by creating these videos. They should give him
full access to make more demo's.

Ah I see, and not only that, in standalone at different sample rates it thinks my low E string is an A string, and the high E string jumps around all over the place. Depending on the sample rate chosen in Overloud’s global settings the tuner jumps around around erratically.

Also a couple of the amps have their settings backwards, where turning something on actually turns it off or turning up turns it down...

    Which ones?

Going over my notes the THD Univalve has a “Full Power” button which is in the ON position when the amp is chosen, but turning it OFF makes it louder and more powerful. Totally opposite. There is another amp that has a knob that does opposite but can’t locate atm, it was a late night...

  • I must say that the 10 free Rigs that come with the app sound really good! The tone and response is tight and as real as can be, and the chugga chugga sounds particularly realistic. I get the appeal and totally craving the Rigs.

As for the amps I’m particularly enamored right now with the Brunetti Singleman with matching cab for clean and boost, and the Brunetti Metropolitan with matching cab for a gorgeous lead. Add to those the awesome Vanilla and Taxi Drive pedals The Orange copy amp with matching 4x12 cab is very pleasing, and the 4x12 Randall George Lynch cab is making every amp sound better. I decided as a start to make an entire bank of presets that’s just amps and their matching cabs, out of curiosity.

  • I went with the Rock, Funk modelled packs along with the American Classics IR rigs and have been extremely pleased. The only quibble being some tones have to have their bass control brought down but that could be my monitors too. Through headphones most are fine.

My big suggestion is a way to complete the Full bundle at a price that's fair. I figured I'd never use the Metal amps (which I wouldn't) so I passed on the Full bundle, but now I see some amps are in that pack that I'd like to have, that aren't really classic metal amps. Plus all the FX & cabs would be nice to have. Adding them with the 4.99 piecemeal would get expensive real quick.

Really am impressed with this app, Overloud has totally changed the iOS amp sim game with this.

  • IMO THU and Nembrini have set the bar higher for IOS amps, real feel, real responsiveness, and an aesthetic quality to the sound that is sort of elusive to describe, but it’s there.

  • The clean sounds with this are absolutely heavenly! Now I need Nembrini to put out a black or silverface!

  • Andrea from Nembrini has alluded to their next iOS release being based on a Vox AC 15 or 30.

The clean chanel of the Caliverb is MORE than clean ; using different IR cabs, you can get excellent clean sound from warm to bright ones 👌🏻👍🏻.

I thought the IOS full version didn’t come with any free rigs. I know the desktop/Mac versions come with a few free ones. Also please correct me if I’m wrong but I’m under the impression that when you select an amp when your creating a new rig from scratch, it doesn’t automatically put in the matching cab like it does in the Mac version. I haven’t yet purchased the full version but I did have the Mac full trial version.

After you download the free Overloud app, they give you a gift just for logging in. Just for logging in you get the Overloud Free Pack as a gift in the store, and it comes with a few extra amps as well as the Rig Player and 10 free rigs.

You are correct that when you create a rig scratch on iOS the matching cab is not automatically added to the amp. Since I have the Full Pack I simply created my own new bank of presets where I match every amp to its cab, just to have it organized if needed. I have found though that there are some particularly spectacular cabs that I like to use with most of the amps regardless of match...

Totally! I’m actually loving the cleans I can dial in from all the Nembrinis, but especially from the Cali Reverb, Mrh810, and 8180. Add to that the fact that I’ve found at least two dozen amps in the Overloud collection with absolutely killer cleans, and it’s obvious these days iOS is spoiled with pure guitar tone. This is essential to gain staging a real guitar chain, since a good clean with an arsenal of pedals and fx allows us to head in any direction with it.

I would totally take a vintage twin reverb sim though!

Perchance to dream... the perfect iOS
guitar rig for studio recording and live shows:

    • Guitar plugged into Xtone Pro midi foot controller and audio interface combo plugged directly into iPad Pro via usbc, no ext. power or hubs/dongles needed, has XLR out to house PA, L/R monitor out for stage, and headphone jack. Also has XLR in with optional phantom power for another channel, midi in/out for piano keyboard or controller, expression pedal in, footswitches, etc..etc..
    • Overloud amps and fx chain with midi
    • Nembrini amps and fx chain with midi

What else could anyone need??? This is seamless studio to stage iOS integration! And all devices can be ext. powered if needed! What we have been missing is real high quality and analog modeled amps and pedals, and now they’re here!

    Truth.

  • @Philh0954 I also thought the free pack (for creating a login) was missing the rigs. The trick is to load the rig player (in amps). It displays the name of the current rig. You tap on that to see the rig menu.

Thanks! It was even a bit more of a process for me. I had “purchased” the free pack back when I downloaded the free version of THU a few weeks ago. I didn’t realize the free stuff came in the form of rigs. For some reason, even though it said I had purchased the free pack, they didn’t show up In the menu until I “repurchased” them. Strange.
    Thanks again for the info!

  • I wish there were a way to actually try the rig packs with my own gear and me playing instead of guys that can make anything sound good in demo videos. Like Flo :)

Like maybe a one minute time limit on an unpurchased rig pack where you have to reload the preset to get sound back. Trying them myself would probably cause me to find patches I can’t live without and spend 26 bucks....wait maybe not a good idea...

  • @bobbyj8866 I think you don’t need any Overloud’s rig to play guitar  I’m sure all rigs are brilliant! But also I know that regular ampsims within Overloud sounds great! So if you want to be a better guitar player you don’t need more rigs. You need a practice! Perfect practice makes perfect!

  • Just seen there is a new update with 3 rig libraries which is 1.1GB in size.
Presumably it’s only this size if you decide to buy and download/unlock the new rig libraires?
And if you don’t want the rig libraries no reason to update?

  • When using the Rig Player you can turn off the cabinet in the menu and of course chain the rig to an outside IR, but you can also replace the rig cabs with any of the cab sims in the Overloud collection by adding them to the chain. So you can turn off the cab and have the Rig hooked up to the Carolina 1x12 for example. It’s not the same as a captured IR but it’s still versatile since you can really tweak the cab settings and mics. Now if only there was a way to turn on only the Rig cabinets and use them with amp sims, that would be really cool since those cabs are captured, but seems not possible as far as I can tell...

After getting the Bass Rigs Vol. 1 and being really happy with it, I went for some guitar rigs. Silver Jubilee seemed like a good deal and the biggest price difference between desktop and iOS. For a Marshall it does not disappoint at all. Really well captured quintessential Marshall arena rock tones and some really good funk tones as well. The “Ready to Play” presets are solid.

The Rig that really blew me away is the Fender Bassman 50. Holy shit this amp sounds phenomenal! The clean is warm, rich, colorful, articulate, and the gain and overdrive on this amp are perfection. For a vintage amp it does modern clean and drive incredibly well. This is a great capture.

I already loved most of the amp sims in the collection. Seems like the Rigs are high quality and very well captured and a little wetter than the sims, which bodes very well for Overloud and very badly for my wallet. Randall Satan, Vintage Collection, and T&B Classic are next on the list.

Reading this just cost me $18. Can’t wait to try it. The only other Choptones rig I have (so far) is the Fend Trem63 and I like that one a lot.
