Simply by selecting the 1st preset "Superclean" and transposing the "magic six" trick to 6.99 😂, the sound is just EXCELLENT with a strat 👍🏻.

I had to Google "Magic Six" and found a brief knob description for "Magic Six" Fender:

    Volume: 6 / Treble: 6 / Mids: 3 / Bass: 2
    Mids x bass = six.

yeah this thing is fantastic on anything i try onit (free presets) very organic and alive.. so this is the secret of the ir cabs debate huh

Does anyone know if you purchase the TH-U “full” package whether or not it also includes all the “Rigs” as wells as the “Components?”

One would think it would, but...

THU FULL package doesn’t include any rigs. This package gives you all ampsims, pedals and other effects, but you still need to unlock rigs via IAPs.

But I think rigs are not essential for using Overloud. I have 15 rigs packs on desktop version on THU, but I never use it. Just because regular ampsims gives me everything I need to play. I found that rigs are funny and they a little bit different, but regular ampsims are more flexible and definitely could give you a great guitar sound.

  • Thanks, @Kranick.

That certainly isn't going to make the "App Completists" here on the forum very happy! 😉

Do you know if Overloud typically does Black Friday sales of their desktop???

Yeah, I need to temper my impulses for Overloud. Buying stuff doesn't reduce the price of any of the bundles, and even after buying seemingly-FULL things there's still more stuff to buy...

The UI does not exude the quality I expect for these prices, either. In fact, it looks like something I might run an a Raspberry PI. (Compare to MODEP: MOD DUO Emulator for Pi.)

I will stick with the free stuff unlocked by creating an account for now.

  • Welp, the UI might not pass muster for some but that blackface model that comes free is a warm yet sparkly pudding that makes me smile. Not many amp modelers that come along catch my ears but this one did.

The UI while maybe a bit basic, I prefer to much to have a great and legible slider to tweak with ease than to have to fight with tiny super realistic controls that I cant even read what they do.
Just imagine that with and iphone I would need a magnifying glass.
With all due respect, i understand your comment, but to me the quality is much better if its in the sound.
This plugin is not bad at all, probably one of the best, and finally as AUv3!, well it was not that hard.
Sadly I have invested too much recently in some nembrini, GElabs and other guitar soft, I probably wait for some sale for now.

I'm actually ok with the UI for the reasons you mention, @jassy. It just takes a bit of getting used to.

  • The free amp makes the case (for me) that were working with a very special audio modeler. So, for an $18 upgrade you can also play with more models:

16 guitar amplifiers selected for Funk and R&B

A nice mix of product types tilted towards clean and blues: Fender, Dumble, Roland Jazz (solid-state), Plexi, etc.

15 guitar cabinets selected for Funk and R&B

16 pedal and rack effects - reverbs, chorus, etc.

18 microphone models, with up to four mics on each cabinet

Or you could opt to start with Rock or Metal bundles for similar prices. As a value it competes well with all the other AUv3 Amp Sim offerings. Their curse is having too many
amp models (93 in all) in the whole enchilada.

I also bought the Rig Player "American Standard" fo $12 as I recall that models complete guitar rigs with fixed FX options. You can add more FX too. They don't work for like the Amps.

I spent two hours shredding with the free login upgrade, mostly at 96kHz. I know I’ll end up buying the full pack and a new foot controller, just hoping I can hold off and it will go on sale. With all the amps and pedals you get, also bass amps, and the midi mapping, it’s worth it. I have all the Nembrinis but never went in on Bias or Amplitube so the splurge might feel easier. Honestly the sound quality and playability is amazing, I don’t mind the UI at all, and the fact that you can midi stomp your way through it all is super clutch. I spent the two hours in standalone switching back and forth between Overloud and Nembrini amps, all home runs with zero latency and no clear winner. Nembrinis have the beautiful amp head UI and this unmistakable analog oomph and kerrang with a perfectly present sound stage, and so much volume. But Overloud has the self contained host of all the pedals and chains and midi, all together an amazing sound and arsenal. They both sound amazing in different ways. I went back to GE Labs for a minute because I was smitten with them a few months ago, but the UI felt cumbersome to me, and it’s unusable in AUM. Defective crackle. They need to step up because they sounded so good. I only know the Bias/Amplitube free packs but they sound and feel mediocre and fake to me. Maybe I’m wrong about them, we’re all looking for different things in a sound. My fingers love Overloud and Nembrini, that much is true.

  • thnx guitarists, you got me to spend coins on this one (fkit) B) :#

  • I quite like this one, not as much as the nembrini stuff but I foolishly missed the boat on most of their sale 🙄

This’ll probably keep me busy, as will Saturn, it’d be nice if the iaps were dlc rather than all taking up space, though I suppose if there were sound interrupted tweets of the iaps you didn’t own, it’d make sense that they’re all in the base app, might even sell me on some...
It’d also be sensible if you could just flick through the amps/cabs etc you own rather than the hundreds you don’t using the arrow navigation...

  • Has anyone tried any of the bass amps in this yet?

    On the docket for today...

  • I counted all the amps, cabinets, and pedals at $5 a piece and decided to get the Full Pack. It says that it’s the All FX Bundle, All Amp & Cab Bundle, and all Distortion Bundle all together comprising the Full Bundle. So this is not true, because when I scroll through there are still 3 pedals asking for $4.99, the Micropitch pedal, the Bass Envelope pedal, and the SL Guitar EQ rack. Yet when I click on them it says they are all part of the all FX bundle. This has to be an error, I reinstalled and restored purchases both on iPhone and iPad and these three fix are still IAP. Why would these three random things not be available, it’s not like they’re locked in a rig bundle.

I don’t mind that the rigs and rig bundles aren’t included in the full pack ( imho they happen to be too expensive), but what bothers me is that the free presets and the locked rigs are all grouped together in the same bank. It doesn’t make for a streamlined UI experience having to sift through presets that come with the full pack and presets that are locked, and it’s blurring the line between rigs and presets. Even before buying the full pack the “thu experience” bank was open and the “ambient” bank 10 spots down was open, but everything in between was locked. There is no real distinction between free pre-sets and rig pre-sets and that’s frustrating. Also the rigs are stated to be using IR and recordings of amps that don’t seem to exist in the full bundle, so what that tells me is you can have a bundle full of amps, but you can also shell out big bucks for rig bundles full of other amps, and if you don’t then these locked rig bundles are going to cramp your UI style. I don’t mind toggling all the amps and effects in a popup menu instead of on their actual face, nor do I mind the add/subtract buttons for making a chain, but the incompleteness of the full pack and how it’s intertwined with locked rig presets is bothersome.

@TimRussell After buying the pack I only had time to play with the bass amps and my Pbass, and it was really encouraging but also confusing. They sound great but... The full pack says it comes with 4 bass amps but at the end of the pdf list it only lists 3, and you’re supposed to intuit that the Bassface 59 is both a bass and guitar amp. Yes that is tradition, but the THU description clearly says it’s for guitar and it’s in the guitar amps section. Same with the Brit S. Bass, says it’s actually for guitar and it’s in the guitar section, but just like the Bassface the Brit was originally made for bass. So are there 3 bass amps and 2 bass/guitar amps, or 5 bass amps, because I don’t clearly see a 4th bass amp. Confusing. Here’s where it gets interesting. When you go to the presets labeled “Bass World”, you can look at the rig chain. They have the bass amps followed by the splitter pedal, then cabinet, then mixer. In the pedals section the mixer doesn’t exist, only the splitter does. Furthermore, the pack says it comes with two bass cabinets, but the bass presets are mostly using the Tweed 59 cabinet which is a guitar can with bassy response and not one of the two bass cabs offered. So when you’re building your own Bass chain, just having a bass amp and bass cab sounds muffled, with the tweed 59 cab it sounds better, and then if you want to emulate their presets you have to add the splitter twice on each side of the cab and the mixer magically appears in the right place. It’s kind of a guessing game, and I would highly recommend examining the “bass world” presets before building your own bass chain. You’re supposed to intuit to use the splitter and mixer for shelf split every time, and a guitar cabinet, and the mixer magically appears in the right place after you add the splitter twice? Confusing. That being said, the bass amps sound fantastic, specifically the Bassface 59 and the Bass SuperTube CL, the SuperTube VR also good, and the Bass 900 came preset with bass cabs so seemed muddy. The other bass amps were preset with a guitar cab as I said. Most of the presets sound phenomenal, but building a bass rig from scratch took a while to figure out. The bass cabinets are soooo bassy. So my issue is with the confusing UI and using intuition, not with the sound quality. I think for bass players it makes sense to buy the Bass Rig Bundle. Regardless just playing around with the Bassface and SuperTubes it sounded incredible, even when rolling off the tone a bit on the Pbass. Seems to me like the Bassface and the SuperTubes cover clean, vintage, and classic rock, jazz, while the Bass 900 could cover super bassy, industrial, or metal.

This is so long winded, but I’m just in the basement hiding from having to change a diaper right now. I think I will contact the devs and ask about the errors and missing gear, rather than ask for a refund. Mainly because it sounds so freaking rad. Bias FX2 elite is $70, and amplitude full pack is $149, how do they even compare in terms of app completion, UI, and tone quality?

  • @JoyceRoadStudios LOL at the diaper. If you are thinking of going in on BIASFX2, wait. They still need to get MIDI control implemented. Plus you will spend more than the $70 if you’re interested in IRs etc. Amplitube, I recommend to pick and choose. Both Fender packs are amazing, though the second shines a bit more. Also up to the style you like.

In other Overloud news... I‘ve been playing with the Looper in both standalone and as AUv3 in AUM and it works really well, external midi control does exactly what it should. You can use one button to toggle between record/ overdub/play and you get two loops to play with. Even as just a free AUv3 audio looper I believe this is pretty unique and useful.

At the moment it doesn’t sync to the host, so you need good timing (or luck) to play along with a drum loop. You can alternatively tap a tempo in the app and get a metronome precount before you record a loop. I tried recording my loop to a Funk Drummer beat and that worked for me.*

*edit: set the overload tap tempo to the same as AUM and turn off quantise... I think that helps - it’s late now and my timing seems to have already gone to bed.

If they were to add host sync to the looper then I would absolutely look to use this in a bigger set to play along with other apps. You can’t see your loop in any form, or how long it is, but if you’re counting bars ok on your first loop you should be good. Presumably you could run more than one instance, but I’ve not tried that yet. In AUv3 looper comparison, L7 looper only allows one instance, Enso more than one (though perhaps at user peril). Any recorded loops aren’t saved in the app, but I can understand it wasn’t designed for that.

Other good thing I’ve discovered is that, for midi control, you can have both global and per preset settings. This has let me set up for two different controllers that use different cc numbers without having to continually reconfigure or make two sets of presets. In AUM, route the midi in AUM, then midi learn in app. The midi source dialogue is still there in the AUv3, but it’s redundant when hosted in AUM.

Also, whilst the UI is not always super slick, I did manage to move my user generated preset bank to the first slot by pressing the ‘up’ arrow about fifty times in the row of edit buttons you get at the bank level. This was a great relief as now I can ignore all the factory banks I don’t want to wade through.

  • Guys is every single update a 1 gig size download?

  • I know an in app store isn't the same as the iOS App Store as far as pricing flexibility but it would be nice if Overloud set up some kind of "complete full bundle" option. I bought the Rock and Funk/R&B and the American rig pack and I'm having a blast with this app. The sounds are very good and I’d like to get all the models.

  • I thought this was string to max out your iPad or iPhone speakers (in a somehow appropriate way) to jam loud and not blow your speakers on your device. HA! I mean I knew there was effects and midi but I foolishly thought the over loud selling point was some kind of magical bad speaker made better.

  • you can laugh at me its ok haha

Nothing about the BiasFX2/Amplitube free app intros turned me on to want to go in on them, not the UI, not the tone, not the disgruntled users. Maybe that’s just my taste, but the moment I turned on GE Labs, Nembrinis, Overloud, GS Vintage Clean, I was smitten, specifically with the quality of the sound. I’m not as picky about exact recreation of an amp or licensing, I just want it to sound and behave like a real live amp. It’s all come such a long way since Line 6 pods. 22 years ago I owned a new Mesa Boogie Trem-O-Verb 2x12 combo with an added matching 2x12 cab. 10 years ago I owned an old dirty Music Man HD130 head with a matching 4X12 cab. And the one that got away that I’ve always wanted is a Fender Twin Reverb. A custom Les Paul with heavy gauge strings into a a Fender Twin.... is hard to forget. I’m into clean rich sounds with some growl, ambient, and some good leads. For a proceeded sound I prefer purple rain, not crispy metal. I love shredding and all the metal amps as much as the next person, it’s just not what I’m recording right now. I’m also playing a lot of bass lately. All the sim choices we have these days are frankly overwhelming, would be better to concentrate on a dozen great ones. But the full packs are the best deals, and that’s the problem with addiction! I wish I never found this forum, it’s helping me stay away from some apps but making me buy lots! Overloud has a great collection of exotic amps, I’m super pumped to explore them, and the Midi! But still going back to the Nembrini Cali Reverb every day.

Real question though, who can actually go through all 3500 IRs in the HASR free pack? How long does that take, a year??

THU desktop doesn't include these 3 effects. As far as I understand these ones was not included in the first release of THU, so they was added to some of Rigs. For example you could purchase BRIT SILVER JUB and unlock SL Guitar EQ. Bass Rigs Vol. 1 gives you Envelope Filter etc. I have Silver Jubilee Rig on desktop so I unlock it on iOS for $0,99 and it adds SL Guitar EQ to the THU on iOS.

I see, now that makes total sense that these 3 effects are part of rigs, I counted them all up and with these 3 there would be 80 effects but the Full Pack offers 77, mystery solved. Still a tiny bit lame though, 77 effects is not enough!!

I have Bias FX2 elite, Amplitube full pack and Overloud THU Full (everything on iOS and desktop). And I don't think I really need all of them. Usually I use Amplitube because I know it the best and know how to get a great guitar sound. But I don't like a looper within Amplitube so for quick jams I use Bias FX2 because it has much better looper. And I'n not sure that one of them is better than other. Amplitube and Bias sounds really very good, and there is no any doubt that you can achieve good sound with any of them. Overloud I know less, because I got it on Black Friday sale last year and didn't have enough time to use it (e.g. I have been using Amplitube and Bias for many many years). I feel that Overloud sounds fantastic, but at the same time I don't think I will use it as my go-to app. Just because I have the similar results with Amplitube and Bias, but I need much less time to achieve the sound I need (since I have known them for a long time and well).
