Nice work on the graphics @tk32, looks pro!

Is the magic clipboard compatible with other DAWs then or am I reading that incorrectly? For example, can I copy/paste MIDI between Xequence 2 and Atom 2? I would have thought each DAW has its own clipboard format (shame there is no standard, if so) so maybe this is not possible but I have often wished for the ability to copy MIDI from one DAW and paste it into another.

Ah, it's worth clarifying this, it's good that you brought it up. Clipboard only works between Atom instances at the moment, but it doesn't matter where those instances are loaded (same project, different projects, different hosts).

This never crossed my mind really, but the implementation might actually be worth investigating!

How about loading Atom (1) instances into Atom 2, is that possible?

    No.

But it would be possible to live record an Atom 1 instance into Atom 2, no?

    I don't see why not.

@blueveek : I beg of you to enable Atom 2 to record and playback all MIDI (on the channels received) even if it is as a black box. For many of us, CCs are as important as notes AND would be overjoyed to at least be able capture and playback performances even if we can't edit them right now.

There is nothing right now on iOS that can really do that outside of standalone apps -- and Photon kind of (but it is so fiddly as not to be very usable).

If adding a black box mode is not time-consuming, please add it sooner rather than later.

Of course there is — LK!
It records CCs and you also can edit them. Brillant App (AUv3) from Imaginando. Don‘t get me wrong, but I don‘t really understand the hype about Atom2. Strange that LK doesn’t get the recognition it deserves.
BTW, I will also get Atom and use it, congratulations for the release. Would be nice, if you add MPE recording And editing soon (Even Ableton has this now ;-)).
    Skål!

They will compliment each other.. the editing capability in ATOM 2.. then shoot (export it over to LK)

    Refresh / Repeat!

Apple is known to take their sweet time to review submissions sometimes, they might even reject for ridiculous reasons. I'm sure you all know this already, but if you're seriously constantly refreshing the store (and not just saying it as a form of endearment), then I hope you won't get finger fatigue :)

That being said, I can't wait to see how the review goes. Hopefully well, hopefully a slam dunk.

    I'll join ya. ☕️

  • Good coffee to you all. I promise myself to stop compulsively check AppStore😂😂😂

@blueveek Good luck on the launch just hope the Launchpad integration angle doesn’t upset the Apple cart ! Hopefully no stupid showstoppers.

Let’s hope that Apple does not see a problem in the scripting capabilities. Atom 2 allows execution of JavaScript code and that might break the guidelines. In the past Apple had been quite picky on that but is a bit more relaxed since 2017. From the review guidelines:

2.5.2 Apps should be self-contained in their bundles, and may not read or write data outside the designated container area, nor may they download, install, or execute code which introduces or changes features or functionality of the app, including other apps. Educational apps designed to teach, develop, or allow students to test executable code may, in limited circumstances, download code provided that such code is not used for other purposes. Such apps must make the source code provided by the Application completely viewable and editable by the user.

Update: I was a bit reasoning about it. Well, Atom 2 does not allow - if I got it right - general purpose scripting. You can only hook your script into certain events. I think it would be impossible to program a game or a virus using that interface. Mozaic is doing something similar, although it can’t trigger actions on the app itself, it can only process Midi data - AFAIK.

    @krassmann
I was actually thinking something similar yesterday. But maybe scripting isn’t too bad when it’s sandboxed (as kn brambos‘ App. How is it called mosaic!?! )

Is it to be supposed to come out today?

Tier 10, according to this it's $9.99 in the US.

I will request for an upgrade bundle pack as soon as Atom 2 is released, which I'm told takes a bit of time to get approved. If you want to wait and upgrade for free (or pennies, I don't know how this works yet), you'll be able to. That being said, please consider purchasing the update.

I will definitely buy it sir! We got to put our money where our mouth is and support continued development. Besides I can’t wait around for Apple to approve the bundle, I want the Atom update as soon as it drops! 😂

  • Germany 10.99€ is it out?
I think I will not really wait for the free update... ;)

  • I haven't read this whole thread, so excuse my ignorance. Are you telling me this is a free update? Ridiculous. Please charge for it.

  • Ya No free upgrades, this is well worth the asking price, and you should def get that!

  • Yep I’m in the ‘gonna pay for it’ club

That's generous, I'd have easily paid 3X for this.
