@Bon_Tempi - many thanks - glad you like the new sounds!
Really sorry - not in the foreseeable I'm afraid. That would have to be an entirely new sampling project I think for various reasons, and given the current situation, I don't have easy access to a nice piano to sample.
I actually managed to source those samples from a very old recording session for pianoscaper - an app I did quite a few years ago. The ambience you hear wasn't added, it was on the original recordings.
I think what you're hearing (and you must have very good ears!
) are artefacts of the compressor I used on the bass, and the guitar itself, isn't the quietest. I had hoped that noise levels were acceptably low, especially for bass in the context of a track / mix.
I guess it's the downside of me being a little old-school with sampling. If we were recording that bass in a studio, then that's how it would sound. I try and keep noise to a minimum and avoid extra de-noising if I can.
Having said that, if you're finding the noise to be unacceptable, there may be something funny going on that I haven't seen before so a recording showing the noise would be helpful if it's possible to do that.
That clean guitar is really clean, but is here being dirtied up nice and lofi by Nembrini Cali Dual
Thanks for your detailed answer -
And sure - No problem - it makes Mellopiano maybe even more unique knowing the story behind ,,,
And about the noise in the bass-samples - I will try to record it and sent it to you in a PM - just need to find the time next to my work and so ,,,
wow free mood units instruments available !!!
what a great thing to wake up too!!!!!!
scapers!
Yeah really great new sounds.
Awesome, thanks for the headsup!
I wished these could be previewed though.
Got the clean electric too, as Gavinski used it and i really really sounded great!
Love that one!
Awesome of @moodscaper to add a new free pack, thanks. Really love this app.
@moodscaper Thanks for the new sounds + the easy updates on a couple others.. 👍
Thanks guys! I love the preview idea, but it runs the risk of bloating the app until such point I host my own content (seriously considering, given all the Apple hosting / download issues...). Anyhoo...
Here's a little taster of some of the new sounds in the scapers instruments. First chance I had to play with Gauss too.

The scapers are great! And also thanks for collapsing the presets by default 👍
Is there any control of mood units to be mapped to a controller? Or can be?
@Bon_Tempi - I finally got round to looking at noise in the basic bass samples and the most significant thing I see / hear are two traces of electrical type noise around the 10K and 20K (hence my comment about you having good ears!) mark. I've had a go at reducing this noise in a 1.1 update for those instruments.
You can see the noise (two horizontal white lines) in one of the samples here:
And here's the same sample after noise reduction:
Anything else perceived as noise, I think we're going to have to accept that as part of the vibe of the particular instrument and gear used.
You should be able to update basic bass from the main moodunits app (no need to update the app itself). Sadly, Apple-hosted downloads from the App Store are as flakey as a box of Kellogs finest, but FWIW, it all worked fine for me on the current (1.4.8) version.
Lend me your ears when you get a chance, and let me know what you think. Thanks, -Rob
Sorry missed this. The main moodunits sample-based instrument (Waverley) has various parameters (attack, decay, filter envelope etc), but at this time, they have not been designed for realtime twiddling / modulation, if that's what you mean? They're intended to be more a case of "tweak the sound to taste" / set it / forget it. Sorry about that.
@moodscaper
Do we need to just open the standalone to update a sample set (the Bass ones)?
I am not sure how to delete the existing and download the new one, if that is required.
Yep, just launch the moodunits app and go to the MU Store. Hopefully it'll have the option to update / and show you the currently installed version. No need to delete the existing one - app should handle all that.
Definitely much cleaner when you open it up
Thanks for reply. I could still buy. Every synth dosent need midi.
Isn’t there some parameters exposed in AUM, or no? I thought there were a few. In which case use another app to connect to and cc from there...
The Waverley synth does not, but some of the MU FX modules do.
Got to say that these are beautifully sampled
@tja - thanks!
So, yeah... I'm working on something that will make things easier. Turns out hosting my download content with Apple was (with hindsight) A REALLY BAD IDEA...
I'm trying some alternative stuff, including things along the lines you suggest. I also have to come up with something that will work for existing folks / downloads, so that's making it challenging, but rest assured, I'm working on it.
I spend more time on patching this download stuff up and helping people with problems than actually programming for almost two months now.
Here's an example of the hot mess that it is:
So, a download has a state. It should be active (downloading), finished or waiting. Unless it's downloading... except when it says it's waiting, but the download progress is changing... which means it might actually be downloading. But only maybe. Ridiculous.
@michael_m - thanks so much! The sampling / sound design is my favourite part of the process for sure. I actually hate programming. Can you tell?
@moodscaper many thanks.
@moodscaper thanks for the update, you might consider doing a push notification if you can when there’s updates through the app itself. I love these sounds, I’ve been using this over pure synth so often for my bread and butter cos the vibe in the sound design is so perfect that I’ll usually just add an amp sim in the fx chain and be done with it. Instant gratification when I’m zipping along in an amphetamined crazed creative state.
Any of the bass guitar stuff good for bass guitar. Or is it mangled bass guitar
just wanna say, MU is great!
@moodscaper i have a question about touchscaper, was just curious if you had any time or where still working on finding a way to make the save easier? i still get so lost trying to find my projects haha ...i know auv3 state save would be great but that’s something you’ve discussed the complexity of so i’m not asking for that, just curious if you had any more time to consider the all in one project saving or any progress! thank you! i’ma huge touchscaper fan but i just keep not being able to recall my projects 😬
