  • Will check later but think it might be because pitch range was adjusted, which is for mpe. This will be good mpe synth, with pitch range per voice and block sequence. Making normal patches, instead of an album on a synth.

  • Pitch range per note is not working for me on Roli Seaboard, and another person has reported the same problem, but dev says it is working for him. I really need more ppl to test this and report back to the dev if not working. Again, set pitch bend on Fundamental to +6 so it is easier to hear the pitch bend. Anyone who has a virtual mpe controller like Velocity Keyboard or Kb-1 can also test this please. And definitely email the dev if it is not working.....

  • Sick.. sooooo.. Sick..

  • Fellow AUM abusers + new AddStation owners.. Get a good first impression..
Do yourself a favour.. Use the standalone at first.. put the keyboard in some sort of scale mode (I ❤️ minor pentatonic), turn quantize (for the keyboard, far right side) on or off depending on the preset, and play while sliding on the Y axis (vertical).. also X axis if keyboard quantize is OFF..
You won’t hear the full potential of this synth if you’re only using AUM’s built-in keyboard.. I’m positive you’ll get lost in the sound for a good while.. have fun!

thanks man! ill def try it

  • @royor, yes, this is excellent advice, it's really nice to use the inbuilt keyboard. As I mentioned in my video, you can also use something like Velocity Keyboard with y axis assigned to cc1 (mod wheel)

That should be some sort of sticky in the App Store description.

It’s habit.. get a new app, if there’s a standalone version I’ll end up using it first.. realized while I was playing AddStation’s built-in keyboard that there was no way I could do this in AUM without using Velocity Keyboard (don’t own it) or KB-1 or.. 🤷‍♂️
Then I wondered how many other people might be missing out on that cool experience.. and there’s quite a few patches that take full advantage of this..
I did see your video and did notice cc1 assigned to the Y axis after I already played with the standalone version.. you’re always 2 steps ahead.. that’s why we watch your tutorials..
Now I’m left wondering how many other apps I’ve not used to their full potential.. 🤔 I can see myself picking up Velocity Keyboard just for these circumstances.. I think KB-1 would also work quite well.. need to investigate that further..

I’m really digging the sounds from this one..

@reasOne Do it! You may be pleasantly surprised at the extra sounds from some of the presets.. 👍

@Philandering_Bastard Yeah, I should leave something similar as a review..

  • Actually, while I was making the vid, I couldn't help wishing that AUM keyboard could get a few developments. Ability to assign cc to y axis would be a great start. Some kind of full mpe setup would be amazing, and if it could do Velocity like VK does, it'd be amazing. @royor

I remember the 1st Virsyn synth I bought (Lies.. I can’t actually remember which one was first, Ha!) was ALL because of the bendy X axis (quantize in Virsyn-speak) keyboard.. I thought that was sooo cool (remember, I’m a guitarist first).. I was thrilled by ONLY that aspect.. Now we’ve got all these other features for the Y axis.. 🤪 kid in a candy store.. 🍭
Extra features for AUM’s keyboard would be cool ONLY if it didn’t affect it’s simplicity + rock solidness..

  • I’ve only done standalone so far. I usually always start there if possible. Liking the potential here quite a bit!

  • Let’s not forget Xequence AU Keys..

    Wonderful app. Not MPE though.

Really excellent advice, i should have pointed to this more directly.

The expressiveness of AddStation is the reason that adding full MPE support is very high on our list for an update...

AUM has a feature whereby it can call up an app’s built in keyboard instead of AUM’s. This currently doesn’t work with Addstation, but it might be worth looking into. I’m sure @j_liljedahl would be happy to help get it working if approached.

Harry, if you guys implement mpe properly on this, I'll be all over it with another video on that. Sadly, a lot of iOS mpe synths don't implement all 5 aspects of mpe well. Please do a good job on this, the mpe users in the community will be very happy if you do.

@VirSyn Just bought and had an initial play with it ... it sounds amazing, and definitely fits into the "sounds like nothing else I own" category.

    A few usability suggestions:

    • Ability to play sounds with the patch browser open, to make auditioning sounds faster
    • Maybe a mixer to mix the PARTs overall, rather than adjusting the LEVEL of each block
    • A HOLD feature on the standalone keyboard to allow editing with notes held down
    • Also, to be able to jump straight to the PART settings from the main BLOCKS screen (with the block grid)

    Keep up the good work!

Damn this thing is crazy good. I have noticed if I’m playing a loop for a while and messing around with it my cpu will start to really spike but it could be from other apps, anyone else have this happen to them? Although it has seemed like updates in iOS 13 have been screwing up audio stuff lately

  • Don't know if it was mentioned but since everybody owns everything brambos, Mononoke comes with tuneable pads that can be used as mpe keyboard.

No mention yet of what parameters are controllable. Maybe none...yet. What does this mean?

@VirSyn I am loving your new app! It sounds incredible. I am, however experiencing a lot of CPU spikes on some patches where the sound either glitches, distorts and in some cases nearly crashes my Ipad Pro 2017. I have IOS 13.5 installed.

I am using the app in AUM but only so I can use my controller keyboard. I have no other apps in the chain.

Is it possible to update the app to correct these issues?

I can’t use it in AUM at all, without crashes and glitches on my Air 2 aside from the most basic settings, and even have problems with some patches in standalone.

Surprised this is so much heavier on CPU than other big synths, such as the Moogs, SugarBytes, IVCS3 etc.

That's odd. I can use it in AUM on my Air 2 with glitches only on a few heavy patches or with a lot of polyphony. Indeed, it's a heavy one, but playable within reason here. I'm not at all surprised that it's heavier on CPU than other synths considering what it's doing. I can't even imagine the complexity of the signal processing with all that must be going on in there.

Our poor ol' Air 2s are really starting to get long in the tooth. I'm at 48000 Hz / 256 buffers here. I haven't tried at lower buffers, but if you are at 128 or lower maybe that'll help.

It has been glitch free on my iPad gen 6.

Maybe power cycle your iPad and see if that sets things right.

    ahhh that’s right! good call

  • I like this one, it definitely is something different so that's cool. But I really really want that big dice that randomizes across the tabs, @VirSyn!

Is that the same as double tapping the home button and swiping apps off the screen?

  • has anyone noticed that if you change presets using AUMs browser , the sound changes but the blocks shows from the previous preset until you open and close a block?

It would be interesting to hear from a 2020 ipad pro owner how they're getting on with the app as regards to cpu spikes etc. Sounds a lot like the old Korg wavestation at times which I really like! I'm wondering if this was his inspiration for the app?
