Great synth - instantly one of the best on iOS for me. Actually find it easier to create my own presets with this than with subtractive synths. Just draw and see what it sounds like! But I do miss the preset curves from Addictive Pro (Sawtooth, Square, String Body etc). @VirSyn can we have them back please? Would make the synth much more immediately useable and tweakable for beginners🙂
On my 2018 9.7in running it in AUM with Fugue Machine and StepPolyArp I'm hovering between 65%-85%. No other apps open, no fx, 512 buffer setting.
Can anyone recommend a preset that is close to a basic “init” state? I find it helps to learn the app concepts in a hands-on manner (along with the manual of course) by starting from the simplest state and building up from there. Addictive has 00 Init, which served this purpose. Thanks.
@zilld2017 Tap the preset area, then tap “+ Instrument” on the bottom left of that window.. name your new instrument, and then tap on a blank block to load the default one..
Also, each section of each block has an init button on the bottom left of each window.. you can randomize that section to your heart’s content and get back to an init state (of that section) with one push of a button.. 👍
Is there a good video tutorial? Having trouble grasping with just the manual
I covered the basics in my part 1 video Greg. Pt 2 will come some time soon-ish:
Please maybe add a global modwheel and time on/off button, which is accessable. Not sure if Im using how app was intended but with a long sequence. I could hear blocks, then rewind and alter block.
Time on. Press key. It plays from start. Look at block screen. See and hear sound. Tap to mod wheel. It will play from modwheel setting. Adjust blocks, Tap back to time. Press key to audition from beginning or stay on modwheel.
Thanks.
@gkillmaster The app is still very fresh and most of what I've seen so far has been introductory.. Gavin's Pt.1 was good.. I'm sure Pt.2 will be worth the wait.. he's great at doing in-depth tutorials.. every knob, slider + button are usually covered..
Believe it or not, I watched Jakob Haq's Exploring Addstation live stream BEFORE I finally purchased AddStation.. Jakob had only just picked it up himself and was going to figure it out "Live".. it was super helpful because he was as lost as I was.. so every question that was popping into my head, he was trying to figure out with the live audience.. I actually learned a fair bit.. it's a 2 hour video and lots of off topic material throughout (that's also the beauty of this other channel of his) BUT it peaked my interest enough to buy it.. you could always skip through it until you find something that's new + helpful to you.. try it from around 12:40 where Jakob starts from scratch.. watch for Samuel's (Samu) comments in the chat replay.. he was super helpful in that stream as he always is..
I'd actually love to see @virsyn making a tutorial video that is a deep dive into making presets for this. Showing how to make a few different types of sound from scratch. Showing us how you guys made some of the presets that come with the app
@Gavinski Now that would be awesome! To see how they were originally put together.. yes please..
Can I +1 a +1 on my own comment? 😜 @royor
+1
The update really helps performance and even though it was unintentional at this stage, seeing all those automatable parameters is also very promising. This is definitely Virsyn's best synth so far for me.
The automation possibilities are mind boggling.....thanks for the accidental sneak preview @VirSyn !
2017 ipad pro 12.9 running IOS 13.5
AddStation AU won’t load in apeMatrix for me. Tried reinstalling apeMatrix, but no dice.
Also, the part sequence doesn’t seem to work on iPhone but works on iPad.
Anyone else experience these issues too?
Yes reported they looking into it fix out soon.
Speaking of which, I asked this earlier...what parameters can be automated? From AUM:
Nothing in the manual that I can find...
EDIT: just realized—“sneak preview”, ie, not yet implemented.
Thanks 🙏
Cool 😎 app!
The latest version accidentally Includes a beta version of the automation parameters.
So far the parts parameters have not been fleshed out but the blocks....wow. Automation of each of the 8 blocks on individual partial level for the harmonics (512), pan, frequency offset, attack decay, filter value and noise value....
Thank you @Gavinski ! I’m looking forward to that
Aha. I just noticed apeMatrix failure this morning and reported it. Good to know it's being worked on.
Update to 1.1 just released. Now apeMatrix should be happy again.
This release also makes sound edits easier:
Hi, loving the app! Great to know apeMatrix is groovy now.
I noticed the sequencing part doesn't appear to work when used on an iPhone for some reason. Works on the iPad, but not on my iPhone. Tried an iPhone 11 pro and iPhone 7 plus. Both running latest iOS and in stand alone mode.
Good update. Thanks.
Wonder if sequencer lengths can be midi, with maybe value added to main block page.
I take it this update hidden all the parameter names again as not seeing them listed in ApeMatrix?
Dont worry about sequencer. Its cool.
Na. Patterns man.
Thanks.
