The more I think about, it's not worth wasting any saliva over 4 pizzas...
...it is what it is, and if we get an update so be it
Do you think the fix for ios14 will include any other updates?
This is all the news that there is:
https://www.blipinteractive.co.uk/community/index.php?p=/discussion/1678/dont-update-to-ios-14-if-you-can-avoid-it
I think it would be wise for the developer to wait for iPadOS14.0.1 or what ever the update number will until Apples fixes the AUv3 issues in the current build causing problems with missing icons and state-saving issues etc...
Wow!!! I can’t believe the stuff I’ve read in this thread. SMH!!!!
Audio tracks will come when it’s ready in the meantime enjoy the app. If you can’t enjoy it without audio tracks don’t use it for now and wait a while. It’s not like the app value is depreciating 😂😂😂😂😂. Relax and enjoy the fact that you can make music while being mobile. 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Could it be that all of our points of view are valid (read as: "Can't we all just get along?")? I think so, and am sad when I see people get so disgruntled due to a mere difference of opinion. Y'all are being cattier than my cats. It hurts my soul, fellas!
I mean, I bought NS2 long ago and vaguely regret it now as I really like to work with audio in my projects. Knew audio was promised when I got it, figured I could wait...it's been a long wait. Regardless, used it enough to know that it's great at what it does (so far). Created a couple of promising bits but put it away and haven't gone back yet. Same story as with SO many other apps that I've bought...few were quite as expensive up front, but the sum total makes that expense pale in comparison. It's the risk of the iOS model and environment. I don't begrudge devs the money I've spent on their products when the lack of a use case is due to my own workflow decisions. NS2 is NOT broken, just missing some pieces that I want.
I recently got an 8-track copy of Bitwig Studio and thought about upgrading to the full version...for $349?! Now that's expensive, but not out of range for most desktop DAWs (or DW's if you prefer). Did I mention that came along with my purchase of a $1500 Linnstrument controller? Turns out I play better with a $10 (oh it's $25 now) copy of GeoShred, and the sounds are built-in! Point is, I'll stick to iOS and accept my occasional losses...or consider them investments in the future of apps that sometimes find new life in a later update. The most disappointing thing about NS2 is its failure to reach its hoped for--yes, "promised"---potential. Could Matt be more open in communicating with customers? Yes, absolutely, and it's likely that would foster some goodwill but it's also entirely his prerogative. Some of us really hate that interaction and self-promotion part--takes SO much energy, and if that were not so true of me and my music, for example, I'd be a famed rock star by now.
I don't even post on here that often for some peculiar reason even though I spend an inordinate amount of time reading almost everything you guys say. I sometimes regret not participating more too since we all know and love so much about many of the more vocal personalities on here. I'd even bet a lot of you barely know or even think anything about me while I sit here considering you my "virtual buddies." Now, some of you may believe you have a better way for Matt (I don't even know this guy) to conduct his business, and from a business perspective you'd probably be right, but maybe it isn't better for him personally. Who knows? Only Matt. Be grateful for what he's contributed to our little world so far, hope for more greatness in the future, but find your joy elsewhere if it isn't in that.
(PS: With some small amount of guilt, I'll admit that I enjoyed the drama up until now but don't let it get too toxic, my virtual buddies. I value you all too much.)
Just a quick reminder: Matt is a person. With like, feelings and stuff.
Has anyone blamed Trump yet?, Russian interference?
I thought global warming would of sped things up
Anyways hopefully the Dev is in good health and all that
I think the Xequence audio app (if that’s still in the works) could come first
For real 😂😂😂
When I bought it, I had no idea it didn’t have audio tracks. I think the App Store description is really misleading in that regard.
What would give you the impression that it has audio tracks? It doesn’t say that it is a DAW and mentions only synthesis and sampling. It has a lot of words devoted to the synth and sampling engines and says nothing about audio recording.
I can see people that bought it in the first few months being steamed that audio tracks haven’t arrived since at the time the developer gave the impression that they’d arrive in 2019. But by fall of 2019, it was known that audio tracks would be delayed and the developer made it clear that he wouldn’t guess when they would arrive.
I asked on this forum for a DAW that wasn’t locked into 4/4 time and someone on this forum recommended it. So I went to the App Store thinking it was a DAW. The app store description certainly sounds like a DAW. Which it is—just an unfinished one.
I would be happy to see audio tracks but would definitely prefer all the midi fx and automation fixed first. I find these stop me from using it, but not having audio tracks is not really an issue for me.
Every DAW on iOS is unfinished.
Just the opposite for me. The music I’m working is heavily sample and found-sound-atmospheres based. I need to be able to arrange sounds on audio tracks similar to arranging video clips in a video editor. I can do it in Zenbeats but the UI in ZB is wonky for this purpose these days and makes the process tedious and buzz-killing. I’m looking forward to ZB getting an update or NS2 getting audio tracks sooner rather than later so I can get my work done completely on my iPad. I have credit cards that won’t expire before I do so there’s some sense of urgency here! 😳
You crack me up man 😂
Your point is valid. However, if you understand (accept?) that the majority of "companies" releasing apps on iOS are single persons for whom iOS almost never returns enough income to justify the time they spend, and who still have to put food on the table, you may get less riled up over "promises" not being kept.
Matt is the only "Blip Interactive" employee, and by last account could only afford to work on NS2 about half-time. I think you realize that and were making a general / contractural point, but just in case you didn't know.
Since we often engage these hard working people one-on-one, they aren't faceless "companies" to us, but people that have to make a living just like we do.
I'm not saying any of that that against you any way. I totally get your point. I'm only offering it as perhaps a way to look at things that might help reduce your future frustration. You can count the iOS music apps that actually have a team or company with any kind of investment potential behind them on one hand. Like it or not, that's just the way it is.
Yeah I completely understand, it would be good for that kind of thing. In the end I record into Ableton where I'm less restricted if I really want to go to town on samples.
I also like working with found sounds etc. Recently I've been using Evolver to sequence samples, it's a bit of a fiddly thing to get used to but can be quite fun and interesting and also a bit more generative than having a fixed timeline
+10000
EXACTLY !
I bought on the sale , hope I can get audio tracks at some point but if not that's ok. Truth be told iOS platform is a bargain, I would say people who spend $100's on buggy software or $1000's on hardware with promised features that never materialize should be the one's who get "steamed'.
Now I am thinking about running NS2 in CB3 is that doable ? Export the midi from NS2 to a CB3 Midi track triggering NS2(AU)
Blip Interactive has 2 apps on the "online store":
Nanostudio which works on IOS 7 and earlier and is FREE.
Nanostudio 2 which has a rating of 4.6 from 206 reviews.
When audio ships the ratings will probably drop because audio has a whole slew of
expectations involving sub-mix busses. Stretching. Alignment. Triggering and on and on.
Anyway. The main reason I feel sorry for Matt is not the challenge he faces adding complex features to an app he intended for a specific use case but because when he takes a break he's exposed to the off hand comments of the rabble that think a roadmap is a promise.
Roadmaps are "Things to Do" for the developer. He's consistently produced updates and
owns the "To Do' list as the sole creator of this little gem of IOS software. I think he has his
head down typing, testing and re-factoring his application for audio. But only time will tell 'cause he's not going to compound a mistake by repeating it and setting unrealistic expectations. He's just going to do the work.
"Are we there yet?" Spoken by me on a long drive to Ohio as a 5 year old. I grew up but I still
have problems waiting for the cool toys to arrive. Meanwhile, I ignore all the cool toys in the
toy box and whine about the one I really want. But I whine privately and don't throw rotten food at the developer with the power to change reality.
That would have to be AUv3 apps from Korg... just the same apps with AUv3 Hosting and FX capabilities. Shit they have an army of developers and cash. Still... I wait patiently.
Textbook troll. Ignore on.
Yah at least add a gif of a troll on a unicycle or something. That just lacks creativity.
Maybe you should take your own advice on this matter?
Boom goes the dynamite
Its not just audio tracks, its poorly implemented AUv3 as well. Cant record midi AU’s. As it stands NS2 is Gadget with only two Gadgets. Its what it is. Time to move on for me. I expected like 10 comments on this thread but its turned into a shit storm.
probably would have been a more thought-provoking conversation if the premise was not a rhetorical question. you already know NS2 is not the DAW for you...so there’s not much conversation to have here for you. For some of us NS2 is great and enough, for others its missing key features. Its obviously not what you want it to be, so perhaps Cubasis or Fl Studio Mobile might better fit your needs.
You have missed the point. NS2 had promised features that never came to fruition. As i have stated near the beginning of this post I like NS2 but it is not what it was stated to become. It is literally a synth, sampled drums and a sequencer. Maybe these features are coming still but two years have passed and they are not here still. It was not a rhetorical question (dont know where you got that). This was not intended to provoke thought, it turned into something that was clearly not to turn into and you are simply dragging it on with your own brand of unnecessary snark.
