iPadOs 14.2 Beta2 - could be placebo, but it feels snappier

Maybe, try these in stand-alone first.
Be sure you have the latest Drambo version (1.26 just out).
And, please report it to BeepStreet.

Yeah, it's already mentioned on beepstreet forum. I tested it on latest Drambo beta 1.26(4)

  • @noob indeed 😎

  • The presets bug is fixed for my AU's in the 14.2 beta 2 for developers. So, I've closed my report with Apple. I'd be interested to know if it is fixed for people on the public beta too. Also, if it shows up again in the final release of 14.3 or whatever it ends up being, it would good to track it here so that I can file a new report on the issue.

Apologies if this was mentioned already, but since updating to iOS14 all my old BM3 projects featuring the Poison-202 AUv3 synth are loading with the synth playing the init patch. Not sure if this happens in other hosts too, but will test later.

Fortunately the patch selector in Poison still shows the name of the patch I was originally using, so I can go through the preset list and reload it manually.

@jimpavloff - has anyone else reported this to you yet?

  • Ugh I really want to update but I have too much in progress to risk things breaking.

I’ve been reading throughout the thread and feel like, since I only use NanoStudio 2, BM3, Fabfilter Suite, and Drambo, I should be safe to upgrade to 14.0.1?

You're not concerned about reported issues with BM3 and Drambo?

What's the rush, anyway? Apple has clearly messed up in the music apps area. Why not just wait for an all-clear from devs and other users?

I'm on iPad Air 2, iPadOS14.0.1 and all those apps mentioned work without issues.
I do have to admit I've mostly been using ZenBeats for the last couple of days...

Mostly because I use my iPad for other things besides music apps and would like to take advantage of some of the new features for non music stuff.

Also, I’m not using any AU’s or IAA plugins except Fabfilter so it’s just the Native plugins in NS2, BM3, and Drambo and then I use Fabfilter on the master.

Seems safe based on what peeps are saying. I think all those devs have released updates for 14.

Yeah seems pretty safe. Everything I do is throw away so I’m not concerned about breaking any existing work.

The next updates to iPadOS are not that far away either...
For me it's been stable without issues on both the iPad 8 and iPad Air 2.

Even if it 'works for me' it might not for others since very user is different.

I've been throwing a load of AUv3's at ZenBeats without issues so I guess the 'crashes' could be host dependent.
(I can't load a single AUv3 in iMPC Pro 2 without it crashing as an example...).

So yeah, considering the apps in question it should be a pretty smooth ride :)

Has anyone checked to see if maybe IDAM can be used to send audio from MacOS to an iPad?

    I can hope, right?

I don’t know the answer to that as I haven’t updated yet, but yesterday I FINALLY successfully used studiomux with logic and it was fantastic. Now my ipad can be an external effects processor along with my uad and my mac mini running audiogridder.

  • Has anyone else found that - even better, solved - AUM working and then not working (and then working again... rinse and repeat) on alternating days with Audio Units?

It sounds mad, but that seems to be the pattern as far as I can tell. Monday - it sees Audio Units. Tuesday - no audio units. Wednesday - voila! Audio units again...

    WTF?

It's been reported that listing IAAs first allows it to list AUv3s after. Also, this has supposedly been fixed in a recent AUM update. But you must have at least one IAA for it to work. Aside from that, we're waiting for iOS 14.2, which is supposedly the working version.

Thanks - i heard same but it definitely wasn’t affected by use of IAAs... i have lots, but never use them, so the days it worked were the mystery!

Everything was already up-to-date when I updated to 14.1 and (so far) it seems to be fixed. I’ve had two days of it working, anyway :)

Maybe you didn't understand. It's not about using IAAs or not. When you're in the app that has the problem, AUM or whichever, you need to view the list of available IAAs, before viewing the list of AUv3s. Apparently that initializes something on the iOS side that makes the AUv3 list work. You could try that if the problem recurs. Good to hear that it's working for you now, at least.

  • Just jumped to iPadOS 14.1 from 13.7. So far using BM3 I’m not experiencing any issues using AUv3. All of them came up and loaded from previous sessions. I was hesitant at first but so far so good.

I thought iOS 14 would be an iOS 13 fix :o

My overall impression is that they've only added new bugs and closed Apple forum threads with too many bug reports from iOS 13.x that weren't yet fixed in iOS 14.
I have the last iOS 13 version and that's a mess already.

I don’t even know what might be triggering this. It seems to just happen spontaneously and unrelated to any particular app or action 🤷🏻‍♂️

I hope this issue is known and that it gets fixed soon.. 🤞🏻

It is an ios 10 bug. Rumor says that it will be fixed in ios 14.2.
I have not upgraded myself but a workaround should be to load an IAA plugin. The the AUv3 plugins should show.

Again i have not tried it myself since i have not upgraded to ios 14 but this is what i have read on this forum 😊

Please note that there should still be an issue with state saving or loading of presets.

Thank you for this reply. Your suggestion for loading IAA did not work for me, though.

Yeah hope this gets fixed. It’s quite an annoying bug.
