Here’s a little jam inspired by @R_2’s insight that the Hybrid synth is a Waldorf Eurorack case... (first music post so be kind!). It’s a quick set-up to test CC mapping and sequencing in AUM.
https://youtu.be/U0Z2Kp7BbUM
Korg Module with Hybrid Synth, sequenced by Marbles in mirack through K7D delay.
Marble’s Gate to BGA ASR controls Filter cutoff, Marble’s Y output also controls Carrier Ratio and Time (envelope), through Befaco offset to fine tune ranges.
Rozeta LFO controls and FM EG intensity
Zeeon sequenced by Drambo, which also does drums.
There’s a few things that I still don’t understand about this set up. I downloaded the trial version of the Extension that allows for MIDI CC mapping, but the button appears greyed out in Module Standalone and does not work. However, in the AUv3 version in AUM, all midi parameters are exposed and can be mapped, but there’s a catch: they need to be routed through AUM’s MIDI control; mapping doesn’t work directly if sent directly from the MIDI generator to the Module AUv3 (this is a bit of a PITA but can be worked around). Gate and CV work as expected.

Edit: immediately after posting this screenshot, I noticed the Module Virtual destination in the matrix; however, sending mirack and rozeta cc control to that destination does not work as expected, it only works through the MIDI Control
I don’t know if this will keep working after the trial expires, but 21,99 EUR (including discount?) for MIDI mapping that doesn’t completely work is not so appealing.
Something I do appreciate about the way Hybrid’s knobs work is that a limited number of knobs are mapped to different functions according to each pad. This makes it great for use with an external controller like the Minilab, since I can map the 16 knobs to two instances of Module and they will adjust with each patch change, which is very versatile for live use.
Additionally, since I installed Module my iPad Air 3 DSP gets sudden spikes of 160% that wreak havoc for two or three seconds, then it goes back to 30-50%.
Thanks for listening and any insights, Hybrid is great and it’s exciting to see what’s coming in the future!
You can buy the IAP for module for £19.99 this includes all six synths. Its only if you buy them individually that its more expensive at 4.99 each.
So you can still upgrade module to the pro version for the same price as buying pro in the first place.
It's a bit weird, this IAP is not listed in the App Store for the Pro version, but the CC learning is still greyed out.
I find this a bit expensive just to have midi learn, especially for those who bought the pro version.
Yes, no cc learn in Module pro with the 7 day trial. Works ok on Fairbanks in Gadget though.
On the "In the mix" YT channel you can watch / listen to the improvisations with Korg Module, both the built-in sounds and those from the IAP. Author of the channel focuses on the sounds of pianos, for comparison he also plays on competitive pianos another companys. He has amazing playing abilities.

The ‘Module Performance Expansion’ might not be necessary if using Module primarily as an AU plugin.
With Module as an AUv3, use the host to map any of Module's 8 parameters (plus several others) to an external MIDI controller.
For example, in AUM, all 6 Module's 8+ parameters are destinations.

And each AUM channel supports MIDI Channel Filter, Note Range, etc.
I have different packs than you (after ‘Soft Horn’ the Triton sounds are listed) but they’re all correct. No choirs or anything.
They work fine outside of gadget. But most of the flutes load as choirs in gadget.
@Lil_Stu07 I did check in Gadget. I don’t have some of those sounds in your image (they are probably from the Module Performance Expansion which I don’t have). But the ones I have load normally - Tape flute, etc.
The Kapro and mellotron expansions aren't showing up in Glasgow for me. The Ivory piano does work, because you access that through the salzburg gadget. Also, Gadget now seems to burn through battery at a terrifying rate on my ipad pro 2017. I hope they can sort this soon, as it's ruined gadget for me at the moment.
Crikey, just lost an hour noodling on the cello patch using an 88 key controller...
Yeah the hybrid/cinametics are very good.
Not keen on iap inside AUv3 though, much prefer singular AUv3 synths which you can load up. Hopefully Gadget will get the AUv3 treatment so you can load the different Gadgets as AUs, so you can get the choice. The UI works better in the gadgets compared to Module too I think.
...
There is definitely mess in Glasgow patches. @ioue can You fix it?
Definitely smart to let people trial the sounds, I’m not sure I’ll be able to go back to soundfont orchestral patches after this, and I only tried this one set so far...
Yeah it might be the only way they can do it for Gadget, which I can live with if it happens![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Yep, but for me it has been doing this for a few years now. Whenever I have a longer session in Gadget the battery usage is twice as much as similar apps. Frustrating.
Yeah my presets are messed up like @Lil_Stu07 mentioned, just checked.
Maybe Was a rushed update release
Hopefully the fix is coming
I'm a little confused!
I downloaded the free 7 day trails of most of the IAP's 3 days ago. Some of them took up to 10 minutes to download. I decided which ones I want to purchase tonight and took the plunge. I signed in as normal and the screen came up as successful purchase but then each IAP I purchased started to download again even though they're already on my ipad. So I cancelled each download as I didn't want to double up as most of these IAP's are a bit hefty on the file size.
Now the Hybrid patches have all gone monophonic after purchase! Anyone else having these issues?
@Sandstorm - Re-downloading won't take up any extra space. Just restore purchases and you should be fine.
We are fixing the Glasgow browser issue.
Something that I can’t quite figure out - there’s the hybrid module, the synth expansion 2, and the cinematic pack. I’m not mad keen on any of the base presets or the expansion 2, but quite like the cinematic one - can I buy just that, or do I need the module upgrade in order to use the cinematic presets? I’ve only trialled the cinematic and that works fine as is...
Great to hear!
Yes you can.
Cheers Tim 👍
Thank you.
I’ve searched around, read the above table and read this entire thread and I’m still confused about the difference between Module and Module Pro.
According to that bizarrely formatted table, there are several Pro features which are unlocked in Module only if you attach a KORG controller. But according to posts here, the only difference is the included instruments/sound set.
Is the table outdated?
@syrupcore ... Module is free? Is Module AU equipped?
It's outdated, incomplete, and incorrect. The controller info was there when it was called Module Le.
Module has 1 preset for each of the 6 keyboards/modules. Pro has ~130 presets total.
Module Pro gets you the 6 Essential sets, which are currently on on sale for $5 each, so you save $10 by getting Pro.
@LinearLineman I had both on my iPad earlier. Both have AUs, and the AUs seem identical, other than the presets. Both AUs are in '2D' mode.
Thanks... the big difference for me was re-downloading Module after non-use and reclaimed storage pushed it off my disk.
Then not getting any IAP's to install in Module. So, I re-installed Pro and everything is
golden.
Pro is worth it but like most truly useful app complexes... it's expensive but worth it in the end and multiply so with AUv3.
I still haven't tried the Cubasis route yet but I should because the combination may be
very effective or it could be "bug city". Early experiments with scaling AUv3's in AUM are really encouraging... doing multi-track MIDI compositions in Xequence 2 and targeting a rack of Module instruments in AUM or ApeMatrix looks very promising to create some film music
or any musical intention. A powerful composers sketch pad for pretty reasonable prices.
StaffPad still wins for anyone that's comfortable with notation because it renders each bar as you enter it and can playback at that point so you can quickly erase, edit or delete anything based on the way it sounds and not just the way it looks. I'd guess using the Piano Roll in Xequence 2 once the tracks are assigned and loaded would be a similar experience.
Add a few notes and hit play.
When Atom ships a new version Module will make a great target for that new capability too.
I recommend the Orchestral and Choir IAP's for anyone interested in this approach to IOS composing. I haven't dug into the Cinematic IAP yet but I suspect it's good for adding some
additional moods to the usual orchestra/choir palette.
