Comments
I haven’t read all the comments but holy sh*t, this app is breathtaking on guitar.
Here you go. Not sure how it will open but it’s the file for the latest track. Cheers

Meant to post this in this main thread, not the other one....
Some Gauss/Korg Module/AUM noodling. Really loving this app!
@brambos what about a feature that could record the knob adjustments? sort of like parameter locking.
i.e. like automation it could write/rec the changes you make to certain knobs, or the movement of the playhead, or 'record' in the shake to add warble feature, etc.
Also what about saving the sessions? is that something that is coming?
thanks
after some experimenting ive decided this is an every app killer. so simple, yet so great. only issue im having is some minor clicking, but nothing i cant work around for now. Congrats @Hainbach @brambos and thank you!
another vote for toggle!
Amd another vote for a record sync option even though I know it is unlikely 😋
The plugin obviously supports full AU parameter automation, as all my apps have since 2016. Just record your knob-twiddling in an AU host which can capture AU parameters.
The standalone lets you save and record sessions. For the plugin that's the responsibility of the host.
Very easy to do this. What host do you use? Everything can be saved, including the audio buffer.
I’ve just recorded 5 loops in the standalone version that I want to export as single loops. Do I have to open Gauss in a host and tempo match the project in order to do this? No button in Gauss to export the loop?
my findings: if you switch off icloud for Gauss in settings first then there is an ‘on my ipad’ folder for it.. the standalone preset with the recorded loop resides in there.
In Apematrix i have saved Gauss presets and gone into files/onmyipad - apematrix presets and grabbed the named file,, it contains the preset and recorded loop.. BUT it needs renaming, you have to put the .gauss appendage on it then you can copy it into the standalone Files App Gauss folder and open it from inside the standalone.. once you have yr preset folder by saving something in apematrix you can copy the standalone files into apematrix presets gauss folder and open them from the apematrix gauss host window..
i guess there’s no reason that any if those files can’t be transferred manually to other hosts that handle presets ... haven’t tested with Cubasis or Aum yet.
All seems good to me.. a few extra steps but workable if you need to migrate gauss projects about the place.
You can also simply let them run and record the session as WAV in the standalone (the red record button in the corner).
There’s not really a “single loop” as every loop will be completely different, so exporting that would be rather arbitrary. Hence we chose to let you record a longer session and then cut out the loop you like best.
Ah. Sadly not what I was after. I can see I can’t use Gauss in the way I had hoped. Still it’s very cool, just not the tool I thought it was for this particular idea.
That’s correct; “.gauss” files are simply AU presets, so any app that lets you manage AU state saves should be able to handle them.
There a lot of missing parameters for AU automation! Reading your statement would bring false hopes as It did on me.... Do you plan to give us FULL parameter automation? Especially the Sync divisions and transport control. Thanks.
Off topic, not so much... I was reading through this thread and I just wanted to say that all those “this is an Enso killer” comments, and the tone, is just not right. This is not a competition. And these devs work their asses off so that you can be excited about their app for a couple of months and ditch them when something better comes along. All good and natural. But, man, a little respect?. For starters we’re in an Audiobus forum and 90% of the posts are about AUM, and maybe all these Ensos and Gauss wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Loopy. Just some curtesy and being a little thankful for those 8€ apps that gave you some good times would be nice.
Excuse the lecture tone, I’m off to get Gauss.
Yeah, the cross over between Gauss and Enso is they're both loopers. In looks, feels and functions, completely different.
Is there any way to send or record AU parameter automation in AUM, without CC values? Still hoping to find a way to do a full tape stop with Gauss in AUM, without having to manually tap. I suppose I could route audio from AUM -> BM3 -> Gauss -> AUM.
Parameter automation is currently implemented to be able to record a session exactly like you're performing it, which is the use case I was responding to. No false expectations that I'm aware of. Transport control is not required for that.
You're talking about being able to set up remote control of the app without using the built-in GUI, which is quite a different use case. Since 99% of the users will use the touch screen interface as it was meant to be used, I focus mainly on the primary use cases. That's not to deceive users, it's simply a way to make sure I use my scarce time as effectively as possible.
That said, I have remote control of all the transport functions working now. It will be in a future update.
Also, people somehow think that exposing an onscreen control as an AU parameter is a matter of flipping a switch in the code. It's not. It's a complicated chain of stuff with lots of possibilities for bugs and problems. Hence I only want to expose controls I deem necessary for using the app as we intended. Let's call it self-protection
"Missing" implies that it was promised that every control on the screen is exposed as a parameter. I'm not aware we did that anywhere.
Well said!
Yes!
Just spent a bit of a gloomy, windy early morning with this, and the first thing my wife said to me upon waking was “If I didn’t know better, I’d say we’ve got an Enso killer on our hands.”
The moral of the story is don’t tell my wife she’s wrong in the mornings.
And to avoid false hopes, I am exposing (in addition to what's already there):
+!
I did like his video with the dude who makes his own tape machines and then makes tunes with them and adds sounds from his personally recorded foley library. That was really interesting.
I find that most Youtubers' content is 95% fluff. Feeling pressured to churn out content on a daily or bi-daily basis has the inevitable effect of watering down that content.
Whenever I see the Subscriber count of a channel I always wonder how many of those people still watch and out of those, how many watch on a regular basis?
Perfect. Thank you!
What about changing the sync on the fly or rhythmically using the 1989 button? Can we record automate that? That’s just two things I’d like to automate and I can’t right now, and I was expecting to be able to do, that’s why I said about false hopes based in your statement. I know there ar ton of users and a ton of workflows and a single person can’t track all of them...
Not only remote control but also automate the recording, something I do a lot ie. inside Drambo or do most of the octatrack users. There is an infinite number of options far from the obvious!
I know you need to manage your time just trying to make that jewel you bring us even better and more open for the experimenter, that’s the Leif motiv right!?
Great!!!! 😍
I can understand the work behind the curtain.
You said: “ The plugin obviously supports full AU parameter automation”
Full is full, not half, not almost full not full but one 😉
@brambos
FR: internal resampling could be useful
gratefully received in these here parts.. pause is going to be a interesting performance automation..
lovely stuff.
I wonder what is the point of a post(s) like this. To shit on an app developer on their unveiling? To bring someone down to earth? To be sure that we are all humble?
