For some reason I am not getting as much fun out of Drum Computer as I hoped. Maybe my expectations were to high or something - but I just don’t feel as inclined to open it and use it as often as I expected.
I am however unable to keep my paws away from Pure Acid ever since the step conditions update - ‘sweet as a nut mate‘ I believe is the urban parlance. This in combination with random background sprinkles provided by Groovebox (user saved kits with the bass drum/ snare etc turned down) is getting me there at the moment.

I think I’ve discovered what was putting me off of it after having given it another whirl.
Almost every time I randomise the bass drum to start off on - in an init patch with a standard four to the floor - the randomised results don’t produce an even equal sound over the sequence. One or two of them is either humming, crackling, pitching out or doing something else weird. I want all my drums to sound exactly the same. I take it there is no way to improve the chances of more consistent results when randomising. All the sequencer probability parameters are at neutral.

Maybe try a reinstall... The Bass drum is consistent here on all notes of the sequencer (neutral).. Randomization can generate some 'extreme' stuff... But getting to know the app, it is getting easier (and intriguing) to tame and tune the sounds... It is worth the time to get it right..

Reinstall seems to have done the trick - thanks for that. Much better now.
For some reason the lights on the drums in the mixer don’t seem to be flashing in time to the drums being played - so it’s not possible to locate a drum by observing the lights - any thoughts on this?

I was having that issue.. but it just disappeared.. how about a reboot? 🙂

Edit.. or maybe adjusting the Audio Buffer in the ‘advance settings’? I know I had that issue....

It’s ok now - I was saying in my post that you helped me to fix it 😀 the reinstall worked.

Is there a way to share presets from DC? I can’t seem to find an export function for kits.

    Files app—>iCloud..

Hmmm. Seems I can't use icloud. Guess I'll need to contact Apple. I never set it up and now it's not working.

  • Theres Icloud setting in general settings where apps ( drum computer is )

Theres also a setting in advanced settings in drum computer.

    Thats all I know ( I swear )

    Edit sidebar and enable it?

Wow, that's a lot of file apps.

  • Naw. It was that my iCloud was never actually set up and I had to do things to make that happen. I got it all sorted out. Thanks, y’all!

I’ve been playing with Drum Computer since it came out for iOS, and this might be common knowledge to most of you guys, but and my game was just completely changed today as I realized I could use an instance of Atom in AUM with a few select midi notes to trigger pattern changes in DC. Super fun!

Here’s my (shameless plug) latest creation featuring 4 multi out drum tracks courtesy of Drum Computer.

    That was beautiful! Great work.

Sorry, glad you got the first issue sorted.. The second issue (lights syncing) may need a reboot, Audio Buffer adjustment...
    Good luck..

Thanks! It really started as a test project to fiddle around with Cykle, MDES, and the 6144EQ which I picked up during the BF sales. I’m really glad folks like it though!

  • I'm loving Drum Computer but on my wish list would be to switch the Hall reverb for a Delay.

  • Will this fill my need for SeekBeats and Elastic Drums AUV3?

I think it’s a free download (with restrictions) standalone..

  • Hi,
I made a request on sugar bytes support to be able to have the option to LOCK the 4 incoming and destination modulations.
Because when I press make kit it always reset the parameters 😦🤬
The best will be to implement for all parameters in the soft the ability to lock any parameters 🙌

  • Updated.. 1.0.3...

    Thanks SB..

Yes sir, I figured this out the other day, and it’s great.

so where is the record button? i want to play a pattern in on he pads but can’t find out how to record

No record. It is DrumComputer not DrumRecorder.

You can export audio, or midi, by pressing export in upper right. Exporting 32 bars of audio isn’t quite recording but it’s close.

  • I was playing with DrumComputer's Mute Mapping (16-23) the other day using StepPolyArp-Unit.

You can mute any of the 8 voices via midi keyboard.

ahhh that’s nice, i need to start using midi keyboards more lol

Is it me, or is it missing a live record button?! I've mapped this out on my controller, but I can't record into the sequencer by punching in beats... What's the dealeo?

You want to tap in a beat live? No, DC has no record feature. Grid entry on the sequencer only.

I wouldn't say no to a record button either.

    SUGAR BYTES!
    HEY!

    1. TEMPO ON HEADER BAR
    2. RECORD BUTTON
    3. EASY MULTI-SAMPLE INPUT

    Love,
    Flight Manual

Record button is a must. That’s also my “purchase app” button.

Multi sample input... You mean multi samples as in velocity layers?. Definite +1

  • wow, long thread...
Quick question: with so many options in DC, is there a way to change the tracks to mono instead of stereo? Or everyone doing this outside of DC?

  • Do you have to make your own kits or re-save entire existing kits so they arnt panned and with effects?

Has anyone used the MIDI program function in Drumcomputer?

What I really like about Sugar Bytes synths is that they have a MIDI program - basically a list of patches that you can recall using program change messages. This is great for live sets

Drumcomputer doesn't seem to have the same set up, but it does have a preset folder called MIDI Programs. Once I save a patch there, I'm not sure how to recall it. Is this feature only half-integrated? Has anyone used it that can explain it to me?

If it follows the Aparillo logic then "Presets saved in the MIDI Programs folder can be recalled via MIDI program change messages. The preset number is the program change number."
However, in Drumcomputer, the MIDI Program folder doesn't number the patches!

    Thanks!

@drewinnit there's something about this in the forum

    https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=536922

The MIDI Program folder is used to map program change messages to presets.

Put the presets you want to load via PrgChange into this folder. Then you can send MIDI prgchange messages to load the patches from that folder and they should load via program change according to their alphabetical order. Of course this is limited to 128 presets. And nothing will happen if you call program 100 and only have 2 presets in the folder. The "ignore program change" setting in the Settings Screen of DrumComputer should be unchecked.

  • edited December 2020

@mojozart wow, many thanks for the tip - I would not have found that thread on KVRaudio!

That's good news, then it will work like the other SB synths. I will test it out tonight.

I may send SB a suggestion to number the patches in the MIDI Program folder to make things a bit easier for us :)
EDIT: Oh I just noticed, it says in alphabetical order...that's weird because then the order of MIDI Programs is dynamic and preset numbers will change depending on new entries.....will investigate.

    Thanks!

  • edited December 2020

@drewinnit you may want to rename the presets in that folder, e.g., prefix each with a 3-digit number.

Also it makes these problems when the track with DC is not running, eg. just staying open on a track while i on the next without playback or recording. Weird. Nobody with similar issues? It’ rock solid in standalone mode.

CB3 update addresses AUv3 issues. See what Monday brings! 😎👍🏼
