For some reason I am not getting as much fun out of Drum Computer as I hoped. Maybe my expectations were to high or something - but I just don’t feel as inclined to open it and use it as often as I expected.
I am however unable to keep my paws away from Pure Acid ever since the step conditions update - ‘sweet as a nut mate‘ I believe is the urban parlance. This in combination with random background sprinkles provided by Groovebox (user saved kits with the bass drum/ snare etc turned down) is getting me there at the moment.

Well, my Desktop Demo expired... So, let's see if Sugar Bytes loves Black Friday sales...

Has anyone else had a problem with a sample triggering multiple times when they play it with a midi controller? I have tried it with a couple and both of them do the same thing.

Is the roll option on? Theres a piano for pitch and a roll per voice.

Id say its obvious you have roll off but just in case.

You are a star! Many thanks. God knows how that's happened. Well, I'd say it was me but I don't think I've turned it on, especially on random samples that I haven't actually used before.

Time to have a gander at Gavinski's tutorials.

Would you pay the full price for it?

I believe roll is on most of the tracks by default, had the same issue when I first used it. Lol.

i’m still loving DC, i feel like it can do complicated things very quick... just messing with all the parameters in the sequencer helps me get grooves out fast that other apps are a struggle. i am liking the PA update to!

Does anyone else find it too easy to trigger the MIDI Learn feature when adjusting controls?

    yep.

  • It’s also a bit too easy to press the various randomizing buttons, awesomely clever though they are.

DrumComputer might be the first app that makes my 6th gen iPad seem inadequate. In standalone mode it seems normal, maybe slightly sluggish, but I’ve noticed using it in AUM sessions with a couple other tracks, the UI while tweaking sounds becomes so laggy it’s not enjoyable. This is with 50% DSP and just a few other tracks with a few plugins each. I haven’t noticed this with the dozens of other apps I use.

Have you tried increasing the buffer size in AUM?

Anyway, sprung for the desktop version... so much potential..

And reminded me of Camel Audio's Alchemy and Alchemy Mobile... What if you can use the iPad version as a controller for the desktop?

Edit.. What if SB did this for ALL of their iOs products... IAP?

  • I’m on iPad 6 128gb iOS 14.2 and haven’t had any problems. So far only using in standalone and 1 AU instance inside AUM, but with several other tracks going. It’s my app of the year probably and I’ve only had it for 2 days. Which iOS are you on? Airplane Mode works wonders if you need the extra memory.

I think I’ve discovered what was putting me off of it after having given it another whirl.
Almost every time I randomise the bass drum to start off on - in an init patch with a standard four to the floor - the randomised results don’t produce an even equal sound over the sequence. One or two of them is either humming, crackling, pitching out or doing something else weird. I want all my drums to sound exactly the same. I take it there is no way to improve the chances of more consistent results when randomising. All the sequencer probability parameters are at neutral.

Maybe try a reinstall... The Bass drum is consistent here on all notes of the sequencer (neutral).. Randomization can generate some 'extreme' stuff... But getting to know the app, it is getting easier (and intriguing) to tame and tune the sounds... It is worth the time to get it right..

  • so where is the record button? i want to play a pattern in on he pads but can’t find out how to record

No record. It is DrumComputer not DrumRecorder.

  • I’ve been playing with Drum Computer since it came out for iOS, and this might be common knowledge to most of you guys, but and my game was just completely changed today as I realized I could use an instance of Atom in AUM with a few select midi notes to trigger pattern changes in DC. Super fun!

Here’s my (shameless plug) latest creation featuring 4 multi out drum tracks courtesy of Drum Computer.

Reinstall seems to have done the trick - thanks for that. Much better now.
For some reason the lights on the drums in the mixer don’t seem to be flashing in time to the drums being played - so it’s not possible to locate a drum by observing the lights - any thoughts on this?

  • is 16 steps the limit per section?

  • @eross said:
is 16 steps the limit per section?

    per pattern yes.
What you can do is chain patterns.

To create longer loops, set one pattern for 16 steps
and the next one could be 7 steps for instance.

Chain them together and you've got odd time signatures or polyrhythms.

  • one last question. is the an INT patch for starting from scratch?

  • @eross said:

    No worries.

one last question. is the an INT patch for starting from scratch?

Yes it is though the channels have sounds
already lined up the patterns are blank.

I didn't even realise this until you
asked and had a look for myself.
I had already created my own.

I was having that issue.. but it just disappeared.. how about a reboot? 🙂

Edit.. or maybe adjusting the Audio Buffer in the ‘advance settings’? I know I had that issue....

  • Is there a way to share presets from DC? I can’t seem to find an export function for kits.
