I may have found a bug or two related to using MIDI plugins on a track. It appears the MIDI plug-in is not saved with the track at least Octachron is not saved but also some of Brambos midi plug-ins, all the ones I’ve tried so far are not saving. Also when you record Midi from these plugins, you can see the recorded notes in the timeline but when you click on the track to go into the piano roll there are no notes there to edit. You can hear the notes playing but you can’t edit anything. Very possibly user error so I’m happy to learn. Thanks.

Ok, so when you load the saved project, are the AU MIDI's gone or do you mean that their parameters were not saved?

For the other problem: you may have MIDI clips on top of each other. Please long-tap an empty space on the track and select 'Merge MIDI clips' (if present) and see if that changes anything.

Merge midi clips fixed the second issue, I can see the notes now. Thanks!

The MIDI AU plugins are not there at all in the saved session and the patterns that were programmed into the AU not there either. I did not save the pattern in AU first.

Ok, can you please tell me which Bram Bos MIDI AU does not load?

My mistake, the Bram Bos MIDI apps do load after saving and reload. The issue may be with Octachron after all which will not reload after saving. I thought there was another app but I’ll have to let you know if I can find it.

    Thanks!

Ok, and this is reproducible I suppose? So, start app, create instrument track with Default Sound Set, add Octachron as AU MIDI, save project as, load project -> Octachron is gone?

  • Yes I had been using Octachron with Korg Gladstone as my sound but I just tried it with the default sound set, one of the drum kits, sounded good, saved and no Octachron AU there when reloading the project.

Ok could be user error but I cannot access the user interface of any of my AU apps within Audio evolution mobile. Been sleeping on this for a while so basically first time mucking around with it.

Not sure whether I’m supposed to access the patches from the instrument select page but the only banks and patches shown are for the default sound set all the AU's are blank. I notice when choosing IAA the instrument itself open up as the separate app. I presume the AU instrument is supposed to open when you tap on it in the mixer page rather than open the instrument selection page?

Tap on the keyboard icon button to the left of the AU’s name itself right above the Mute button on that channel. I assume you created a midi track. Hopefully I understood what you were asking.

  • @dwrae Is there anyway to bounce a track “freeze” to the project
i.e freeze region /auto insert to current project timeline at marker?

No. You can only freeze and unfreeze tracks as a whole. You can save a range of audio to an audio file and then import that at any location, although that won't include automation.

OMG. Didn’t see the subtle line between the AU name and the keyboard icon. I was tapping on the name. Thanks.

  • Audio Evolution Mobile Studio version 6.8.6 has been released:

    • Added a 'Trim end' option to the 'Auto split' dialog.
    • Added a Mute/Unmute option to the clip pop-up menu (except for clips on pure MIDI tracks).
    • 'Auto split' was not calculated correctly for stereo clips. Solved.
    • Clip volume and fades did not work for a multi-drum pattern track. Solved.
    • Markers could be placed incorrectly when tempo changes were present. Solved.

Thanks for all the hard work!
    I love this app!

  • Audio Evolution Mobile Studio 6.8.7 has been released:

    • Added an option 'Track selection' to the 'Export to other DAW' dialog.
    • Solved an issue where MIDI notes could be drawn outside of the clip.
    • Selecting a subdirectory in the instrument selection dialog could cause a crash. Solved.
    • Solved a crash after arming a pure MIDI track when the input was set to 'Virtual keyboard'.
    • Scan for BT MIDI devices didn't work anymore. Solved.
    • Solved a freeze when loading a project with a freezed track with more than 2 Fx Sends.

This app just rocks. Such a good touch-based ui once you start to “get it”.

  • So I got all excited and bought Fabfilter Pro Q4 to go with all my other Fab apps. I loaded them into CB3, and then n-Track Pro with 100% Fabfilter apps on a Guitar, Vocal, Piano, Bass, and Drum track as well as the Master track of each DAW for my mastering efforts. I used 256bits and didn’t freeze any tracks on my humble Air4. I noticed playback stuttering and latency issues on both DAWs. However, I had ZERO issues on Audio Evolution. Smooth as silk. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

  • Hello @dwrae !
I checked PDC and it turned out to be broken. Firstly, the compensation does not work, and secondly, you may hear a strange sound that appears at the beginning when the application tries to compensate for the delay introduced by the plug-in (in this case, in linear phase mode):
Could you check it out, please?

I'll check it out, although I am pretty sure it has worked so it should be a specific case.

I cannot reproduce it, although I only have the Pro Q 2. Can you reproduce it with only the Pro Q 2 on the track and no effect muted? Can you try with our Default Sound Set instead if you are using an Audio Unit and see if that makes a difference?

  • Unbelievable

  • Audio Evolution Mobile Studio 6.9.2 for iOS has been released:

    • Added search fields to the instrument selection and effect selection dialogs.
    • Parameters with automation points are now displayed on top in the parameter selection menu.
    • Added an option 'Show MIDI channel button in piano roll' to the MIDI settings. This can be helpful with Audio Units like the (upcoming) Battallion drum machine.
    • The FX Send block now displays the target bus name as subscript.
    • Opening the MIDI remote control for effect parameters twice could result in the MIDI learn not working anymore. Solved.
    • When swapping effects with a side chain, the side chain wasn't swapped as well. Solved.
    • A connection from the IN block to the second row was not set when loading a FX grid. Solved.
    • User-defined drum kits were not displayed in the multi-instrument selection section. Solved.
  • Thanks for the update, I would love to use AEM more but I always find myself hindered with some poor usability, I know you fixed the one for having to pause to use many parts of the UI.

I hope to find time to make some more concrete suggestions, I would really like to see AEM being updated for a more user friendly experience, it is a very complete DAW!

    Hi @dwrae!
Thank you so much for updating this awesome DAW with exact features I wished to have

I found a couple of issues:
    1. The app crashes if you add automation for an AUv3 parameter and tweak (even another) AUv3 parameter via MIDI CC. I tried with SWAM violin, added automation for "Expression" with AUv3, and tweaked vibrato by "modwheel" MIDI CC from the MIDI editor. And app freezes deadly every time when I start playing.
    2. Is it possible to display MIDI CC on top if they store information as you did with the automation? My default case is playing SWAM instrument expressively live and then doing small corrections, but it is always a torture to find the exact MIDI channel in the list

I tried all sorts of things, but I cannot get it to crash. I don't have SWAM violin, so if you could check if it happens with another AUv3, I'd appreciate it.

    What I tried:

    • Create an instrument track with Electric AU
    • Record a couple of bars of notes
    • Automation: add curves for a couple of parameters
    • In the AU display, MIDI, add two CC's that I can control from my nanoKontrol 2
    • Play and move the faders on my nanoKontrol vigorously
      No crash here
  • Audio Evolution Mobile Studio 6.9.4 for iOS released:

    • Note offs are now sent to an AU MIDI after stopping playback. Before, starting playback could still have a hanging note that was processed.

    • Added 'Render to a MIDI file' to the track pop-up of instrument and MIDI tracks so you can save individual tracks to a MIDI file.

    • Solved a possible crash that could occur when disconnecting or connecting a USB audio device.

    • Audio tracks are now unarmed when attaching/detaching an audio device.
