Could you take a screenshot? It should be as simple as making sure the midi input of the AU module is connected to the track head midi. If there is something like another VCO or generator placed after the AU, that would prevent sound from the AU, and you’d need something like a mixer connected to the AU output to hear sound.
Yeah, I know.
That's for everyone else.
No worries.
That was a presumption on my part.
I've yet to actually put notes on the sequencer section of the extra channels.
One moment....
Yup, crashes with a note on the sequencer section of the extra channels.
Hhhhmmm I wonder if we use dRambo within
dRambo maybe we can sequence on those channels that way.
Good idea. Let me know if that works well for you. I’d check myself, but my iPad is currently having a bad day.
Actually, the bad day of my iPad began after I ‘keep adding’ added about 24 tracks. Then my iPad crashed. That’s normal for my ipad these days, but I wonder if those extra tracks aren’t optimized the way 1-16 are? Cause it is a bit of a hack.
Or it could just be my old, faulty ipad.
Will do.
I'm going to try it after I've had a my coffee.
24 tracks?? I'm still on the three extra channels.
No wonder.
They most probably aren't optimised, it definitely feels like a workaround.
Nah, I do most of my dRambo stuff on my 9.7" iPad Pro 1st gen.
Ahh well the tracks weren’t occupied. I don’t think I would need that many in a production scenario. I was just testing the ‘keep adding’ method, and simply pressed repeatedly for no other reason than I could.
Enjoy. I just had my last cup of the day.
Interesting. Switched off the pads setting as you show above and the keys worked with the AU as expected. Switched the pads as keys back on and it doesn’t. I’m pretty sure everything is set up correctly. Here’s a short vid:
Yeah, I did the same thing.
They will be useful as sub mix channels before routing to
the Master Mix as well as using them for sends and returns.
Yeah, it's my last cup of coffee for the day as well.
Can anyone explain how to activate/find the new program change feature - I can't find it in the latest version of Drambo?
I was able to add 2 extra channels (that’s most I’ve tried so far). And had instruments and notes sequences on those extra channels with no issues. But I added my 2 tracks differently. I clicked to add in a track between channel 8 and send 1 - just got Drambo Saturday so not sure how to explain better. I can post screen shot if anyone isn’t clear.
Were you in excess of 16 tracks? That's what this method is referring to. Normally, only 16 tracks can be used in a project - but a neat hack exists to use more than 16.
Check this post for the details.

Ah ok - not at 16, sorry. I’ll try that after breakfast and see...
I am using this Mozaic script:
https://patchstorage.com/basic-midi-controls/
just tested, works with all the Sugar Bytes synths that offer PC
Before the update, I used this same script but the information wasn't transmitted properly, so no PC occurred.
It can be useful if you ever find 16 is not enough. So far I haven't hit that limit though. And with AU Drambo in Drambo (dramboception..), it's even less likely that I'd need more than 16. But you never know!
Happy Drambo-ing mate!
This has prolly been answered but couldn’t find it anywhere...is it possible to record the midi data from a midi auv3 in Drambo onto the timeline/pianoroll , if so, how?
@RajahP, got the pads to work. Need to throw a midi processor module in there. Channel Filter keeps it simple.
EDIT: I seem to be getting hung notes on occasion. Monitor shows midi off is being sent. Not sure how/why, but am investigating. Meanwhile, threw in a Transpose module (default setting) and it works consistently. User error, no doubt.
Here’s a really basic question: how do I route the PC to the synth (Sugarbytes or something else that has PC)? I’ve loaded LK to track 1 with Factory. The track is playing the notes from LK but not the the Program Changes.
No, this kind of MIDI routing doesn't exist (yet?) in Drambo.
Only if you'd route the AU hosted in other host, e.g AUM into Drambo. Not really the setup you want for everyday use, but if you just want to "convert" some ideas you already created in AUs to have them on Drambo timeline, it works.
PC messages are sent the same way as notes. Try MIDI monitor unit to see, if LK sends PCs. I am not aware that LK can send PCs but maybe I have just missed this option.
..
Thanks - LK does have a separate window for PC automation under the piano roll where you can automate other parameters like velocity, panning and the like (also PC). After messing around a bit with Sugarbyte’s Factory, I was able to get it to see the PC messages by going into the “Program List” settings and setting that up. It was not immediately apparent, but it worked.
As I can see it, no ”DAW” on iOS/iPadOS can record the output from Midi-AUv3...
Actually it’s doable.
Hosting dRambo in dRambo as an AU midi processor and
routing the midi output to another track using Victor Porof’s Midi Tools.
Make sure that you set the midi channel to another channel other than
the one your transmitting from otherwise it’ll create a midi feedback loop.
i.e drambo as midi auv3 on channel 1,
use midi tools to route this to channel 2,
press record on channel 2.
Stop recording before it starts overlapping.
I haven’t tested it yet for multiple channels but for one channel it works.
Actually, this is even better than my idea with other AU host. Great!
Ahhh!
Great solution mr Gravitas!! Thanks!
@skrat @ErrkaPetti
No problem.
Be careful with the routing and midi feedback so make sure
you save your project before configuring it in case it crashes.
Unfortunately, it seems like un-compacting (is this a word? 😅) the rack also uncompacts nested racks. I am making some crazy rack-inceptions with a rack containing e.g 8 other "subracks" so it's sometimes annoying. Have it on my list but tried to bother the developer just with proper bugs for now.
I figured it out, by simply clicking on the first or the left-most module of the sub-rack/modules, it compacts them.
Any tips on being able to trigger Enso record in standalone Drambo via cc?
